Well priced, fast pizza by the slice. They also have lots of Italian entree/sandwich options and whole pies.
Not the best pizza in the world but very very good. A great lunch treat. -

Disclosure: The owner of Giuseppe's posted a sign on the door asking patrons to post Yelp reviews in exchange for a free slice of pizza. This would be an ethical lapse if the review had to be positive. But there was no such stipulation. The other reason why writing a review for hire wouldn't be kosher is if I accepted the freebie. I did not. I paid for my pie like I have 100 other times over the five years I've lived down the block from Giuseppe's.
The review:
The staff has been the same for years. They are respectful and friendly, and they get the order right.
The pizza is good. Ingredients always taste fresh. Crust is excellent. To-order pies take 10-15 minutes. Slices are very large both in the store and for delivered pizzas. That is a big distinction from some NYC pizzarias, which sell mega slices one at a time but don't deliver "house pies."
There's a lot of competition in Murray Hill. Giuseppe's pies are larger and not as crispy as 33 Brick Oven and Vezzo (which I find rude, overcrowded and expensive).
Giuseppe's nearest competitor is Royal Pizza, on Third and 39th. Telephone orders are hard to communicate (language barrier) to Royal and the crust has been sooty on more than one occasion.
South on Third Avenue, Libretto's and Imperial each make tasty pizzas, but pies and slices are significantly smaller than Giuseppe's.
Ambiance is lacking at Giuseppe's. But that's fine, because it's a pizza joint. There are a few tables in the back and a small counter for standing patrons to munch their slices.
Drinks are either fountain sodas or soft drinks from the cooler. The bodega to the south sells beer and there's a liquor store to the north for wine. But, truthfully, I've never seen anyone attempt BYOB at Giusseppe's.
I have yet to try calzones, subs, soups and the baked Italian specialties at Giuseppe's. They are also advertising chicken wings and food of that nature. NYC's health department has awarded Giuseppe's an A rating, so the food is probably just fine to eat. But I am a purist who believes pizza places should make pizza and soup stores should sell soup. So I'll stick to Hale and Hearty for my minestrone. -

I would have given them 3 stars, but the restaurant did not have heat which made it uncomfortably cold and the restroom did not have toilet paper:(
As for the food, it was decent. I had the eggplant pizza which was good, but could have been better if it was hotter. Also had the small caesar salad which was a small container of lettuce topped with croutons and a side of caesar dressing... very lame!!!
Since I had a pizza craving, I guess it hit the spot, but I would not come back again. -

A solid neighborhood pizza joint.
They don't spare on the toppings which I appreciate... They make very hearty pizza. -

This, in my opinion, is true NY-style pizza. We came here around 11am, and they were just opening, and baking fresh pies for the lunch rush. Everything was so good, and honestly, I could've had one of everything. I also could've eaten here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day I was in Midtown. I loved the food that much!
Huge selection of pizzas.. Cheese, meats, veggies, creative combos (ham & pineapple, buffalo chicken), as well as strombolis, wraps (like a smaller, thinner stromboli), calzones, and a bunch of sandwiches that looked great, even though the fillings looked kind of pre-made, the bread looked very fresh.
They have a steam table which looked fairly fresh, but quite frankly I would skip that and just stick with pizza.
Serious NY pizza for serious pizza lovers. A+. Very nice staff and clean restaurant, too.. Not huge though so be ready if you go between noon and 1pm on a weekday! Nice part of town, too. -

Best NY pizza I've had so far and also the best Buffalo chicken pizza I've ever had! I got the $5 chicken tenders and fries, too, and they were really tasty. Add on a small fountain Barq's Rootbeer and it came to like $11. Thank G this place is walking distance from my day job!

Staff is always friendly and the pizza is always fresh. I have had the plain slice and buffalo chicken slice and both are excellent. The place is also clean and never usually have to wait. Definitely recommend for a slice on the go.

Ok. Not amazing, but good enough.

My favorite pizza in Midtown. Great slices and if you get there earlier than noon, no line. Try the pizza with everything on it. It's pretty much perfect. Crispy crust, fresh veggies, cheese that isn't made of 'stretch armstrong', and pep & sausage that are tasty but not greasy.

Surprised that this place wasn't already on Yelp. Used to be Original Ray's.
I've been coming here for years (close to 10 I think) and the pizza is always good. Not the best slice you'll ever have, but really good. And consistent (same two pizza guys working behind the counter for as long as I can remember despite an ownership change). You know you're going to get a quality, tasty slice 99.9% of the time.
I've had their slices (great classic slice), their rolls (love the eggplant roll), their pastas (love their eggplant parm over penne ala vodka). Everything has always been really good. And fairly priced.
It's a typical NY pizza joint: a counter on one side, some tables in the back. The front part is nice with some wood moulding and trim. But you don't come here for the ambiance.
Can't go wrong with Giuseppe's. Hope to see them here for many more years. -

A busy little pizza and pasta joint that's nice for cheap lunch. The pizza is nothing special, but it's good enough for the price and is served quickly despite long lines. The front of this place can get pretty crowded since everyone is ordering, waiting for their orders, paying, and putting on condiments in the same little space. Nevertheless, there is a small seating area in the back that seems always to have room. Be warned that there's a credit card minimum of $9 or $10, depending on which cashier you ask.

Called after the lunch rush, and was in the mood for some pasta.
semi-near my office, and requested penne ala vodka.
not what i expected, the pasta was a runny soup of cream.
not going to order from here again.
