Mmm sandwiched ..
This place is really tops, I just had the carrot soup today and I have never liked my veggies disguised as creamy goodness more!!!!
And my sandwich today?! Also splendid. massive focaccia, literally an inch of prosciutto, bocconcini, sun-dried tomatoes, olives *sigh*
and a litre grapefruit soda from Italy
All this goodness cost me $16
I should have taken a picture... -

A-OK
This location has changed hands a few times over the years and as it has it has gone through a few transformations. Originally a grocery store run by a lovely couple from Malta, it was sold to another owner who transformed the front into a cafe with some really decent grub and quick service. The current owner has made some minor changes but essentially kept the same format.
They have a lovely selection of pastas and sauces with prices comparable or marginally higher than other places around town. Decent deli selection. Lunches, with the exception of a couple of bombs around the time it last changed hands more than a year ago, are quick and tasty.
If you are in a rush you can call ahead and pre-order your meal to eat-in or take-out. Sandwiches (hot and cold) are made fresh when you order and catering-sized orders can also be arranged.Listed in: 365-Day Challenge - Review A…

Been here on two occasions, breakfast and a lunch. The breakfast that was served to me was swimming in olive oil making everything on my plate soggy. The hasbrowns must have been sitting in a pan for hours baking under a heat lamp because they were extremly hard and dried out to the point where I almost cracked a tooth biting down into one. The lazy owner comes out of the kitchen and quickly asks how our meal was and without even giving us time to respond he darts back to the kitchen. He couldn't care less. Their deli sandwiches and pastas are over-priced and there is a tremendous lack of customer service here.

I'm looking forward to coming here again.
Guiseppe's is basically an Italian grocery store and deli and they also have a couple of seats where customers can sit down and order pastas/sandwhches off the menu.
I had a braised veal with gnocchi. The gnocchi was extremely good, had a nice bite to it. The sauce was simply called "white" sauce and it was nothing special. The braised veal was excellent and and it came with the bone and bone marrow attached which was delicious slathered on the bread which is provided. The bread was really chewy in the inside, hard on the out and really tasty.
Prices are extremely reasonable given that bread and olive oil are unlimited. They also gave us a complementary desert which was a selection of italian cookies. Service is extremel excellent and you really feel the Italian hospitality. Guiseppe's actually walks around the store with a bottle of olive oil and is extremely hospitable.
The deli is not bad. Their Italian-imported prosciutto was excellent and comparable to what you would get at oyama but much cheaper. Otherwise, there isn't much variety. They also have a decent selection of Italian grocery items and you can actually buy the homemade gnocchi frozen which is nice. From what I can tell, they have a decent selection of olive oils, good selection of vinegars, excellent selection of dried pastas and of Italian cookies.
This place is really a 4.5. -

This one is definitely worth the trip. I stumbled upon this place randomly when I had a course to attend to in the area and happened to walk in. And am I ever happy I did!
I walk in to the aromas of freshly baked bread, ripe tomatoes, pungent olive oil, cured meats, strong cheese, and homemade pastas. Asked if I'm eating in or taking out, I'm quickly seated by the hostess. After ordering the grilled veal shank and a salad, I sit back to take it all in.
Couples speaking Italian at the other tables and old Vito himself checking on each table to make sure patrons are satisfied, there is a constant flow of people coming in to order pasta for the nights dinner or prosciutto and cheese to take home.
Before my meal arrives the waitress brings a basket of bread and pours oil into a side plate followed by a dash of balsamic for dipping - deliciously strong and aromatic. After munching on the bread for a few minutes, my meal has arrived.
The veal is tender and seasoned to perfection - just like my grandmother would make it. Served simply on a plate with nothing but the shank and it's juices, with a side salad, it's one of my favorite meals.
Done with meal and still savoring the flavors lingering in my mouth, the waitress brings a bowl of clementines as a complementary dessert and I order an espresso. My espresso is quickly brought back and, having never stopped tending to his dining area, Vito comes by with a tray of cookies and chocolates for me to choose from as accompaniment for my coffee.
I left delighted, sure of my return soon to come. Well done Vito, well done. -

Giuseppe's is amazing and if you need proof I have two words for you: Bus drivers. You can always tell somewhere is a great place to eat when those with the shittiest, most thankless jobs flock there. Giuseppe's isn't just great sandwiches, it is comfort and joy in sandwich form.
You won't get a deli or Italian sandwich better than Guiseppe's anywhere in the city. The fact that it's a deli and the meat and ingredients are all fresh is only half the greatness. They offer all sorts of fresh made meals and pasta options from a home-style kitchen that takes so much care in the food they deliver. You sometimes wait 20 minutes on a sandwich but it's worth it.
Beyond the food service, Giuseppe's is one of the great Italian importers in Burnaby Heights. It's not on the size or scale of some of its competitors but it definitely holds its own with its offerings, especially in the meat and cheese departments. It was always the first place I hit when I had to throw a fancy dinner party and impress some guests.
As much as it might seem hidden and unknown do prepare for Giuseppe's to be busy. They have a die-hard fan club who is there around every meal time, especially after 5 O'clock so be prepared to fight for that sandwich, but man it'll be worth it. -
