Cute place. Excellent prices and menu selection.
Walls are filled with cuteness. Pictures of guests. Keychains. Art.
Regulars get chopsticks save in holders along the walls personalized with their names. One regular's pouch contains a fork!

Yum. So this is my stand-by for cheap, quick sushi at the other end of the Drive. I know, I like having someplace close by that ALWAYS is ready to serve me gyoza and tuna tataki. I like this little place because they are again: cheap, plentiful, and consistently good. Again, not super fancy or foo-foo but when you want a nice little meal to eat in or take out, they have you covered.
They remember my name AND my favourite orders, which is very sweet and appreciated. They also have their regulars chopsticks on the wall which is green and fosters a sense of community which I very much like.
A nice, little neighbourhood dining place. Win. -

If I could marry and or make love to a sushi restaurant, move over Yamato, Ginger Sushi has stolen my heart.
We stopped in with some friends who are.... regulars... to say the least. After hugs and hand shakes with the chef and staff we sat down and started filling our boots.
Gomae and deep fried spicy tuna roll, then had some sashimi and the most amazing tempura I've ever had in my whole life. EVER. And I've been to Japan. From there we had some amazing parmesan cheese rolls, this tuna-avacado-mushroom thing that honestly... blew my mind and some rice balls.
I could go on to describe every last taste and morsel I devoured like I'd never eat again, but I wont I will leave the mystery to you. Go, eat, stuff your face, love it. Seriously.Listed in: Hot Eats

Wow. Where did this place come from?! This place is handsdown the best sushi in Vancouver for the price... We ordered within 3 minutes of arriving and got it literally in 3.5. THAT is efficiency... It is a little small, but if you can snag a table then do it and go to town. My dad and I got so much food for $35-$40 and the service was impeccable. 5/5 stars from this happy customer

Whoa, i think this might be my new favorite sushi place on the drive! For what i is- a tiny sushi restaurant on the drive with cheap prices and a few similar looking sushi options on the very same block- the quality of food was really good!
I came here for dinner with a few friends, and honestly, i had lowered expectations based on what i saw in their storefront... I wasn't sure what to make of the children's tshirts that hung from the awning, hand-painted to advertise items on their menu, and the dead wasp that had somehow gotten itself stuck between the huge menu covering their window and the window itself just made me uncomfortable... Especially because he chose to die with a photo behind him, so i actually thought he was IN the photo at first... Ginger Sushi, i've decided that i like your little tshirts, but please, please, can you get rid of that nasty dead wasp?!
Aside from that though, no big complaints!! I ordered the sashimi bento box, and my friends got tuna tataki, an oshinko roll, unagi don and nigiri. We were all happy and impressed, and everyone's food looked good! The portions were perfect. Maybe a bit smaller than what you would get elsewhere, but i didn't leave feeling hungry so who cares!
The sashimi that came with my bento was excellent! The salmon was a great quality and didn't have huge veins of fat in it, and although the tuna did taste a bit chilly (ie: recently thawed) it wasn't THAT frosty and tasted really great! I find that the sashimi at most of the small, cheaper sushi restaurants tends to be greasy and taste a bit off, but everything i had was delish! I also got the chicken teriyaki with my bento and was pleasantly surprised to find that it still had a lot of veggies in it and wasn't covered in crispy, fatty skin. It also had just the right amount of sauce!
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but the people working there were actually Japanese! (They were speaking Japanese anyway!) I notice that the places with Japanese cooks tend to be the ones that don't have too much sauce or grease in their dishes, so it's nice to find a place that isn't a pricier Japanese-run izakaya but still has tasty, simple Japanese food!Listed in: Sushi

I love this place. They have weirdly fabulous rolls that are always done very well and are huge! I have gone here a few times just wanting a fairly light dinner and gotten one roll and it was plenty.
The first time I went, I ordered a sunomono salad and I thought it tasted strange (like the rice wine vinegar might be a bit off because it was sour). I explained to the waitress that it tasted a little bit weird and I didn't want to eat it but would pay for it. Then the chef actually came out and told me that it probably tasted slightly different from others that I've had because they use different types of vinegar depending on the part of Japan that they are from.
I thought that it was very nice of him to come out and explain, and also that that was interesting. But he was also nice enough to re-make the salad to a taste that I was more familiar with!
It actually wasn't that different in the end, but I ate it anyways because I trusted that it was totally fresh and because he had put an effort into fixing it up for me. It was so nice of him!
Overall I've had great food and great service here; the only drawback is that it's not licensed! -

Our friends have taken us here a few times now and the service is fantastic. I had the tobiko world roll and have never seen so much tobiko in so many colours in my life. Mmmmm.
If I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular and would have my own chopsticks on the wall with the other regulars. -

What ? No reviews yet ?!??!
Come on people from the drive, where are you ?? ;-))
So you get the message, I'm definitely a big fan of Ginger Sushi !!
Because they are super nice and really japanese ;-)
Because their sushi and rolls are always super fresh, top quality and very well made...
Because they have a great selection of awesome rolls...
And their Price !!!! incredible !!! Best value by far in Vancouver !!
Well... you can think that I must not be very picky... but actually, the contrary: after living in Japan, I have to say that not all sushi are making the par for me.
But I have never been disappointed by Ginger Sushi.
So why just a 4 ?........ Well, because I AM picky ;-) and I don't like the place itself.
Can't really eat there.
But it doesn't matter: take out sushi is just as good !! :-)) -

I would not go back to Ginger Sushi. The place is ok, very small, poorly decorated, mostly clean. Service was fine, nothing special. The sushi however was problematic.
We had tuna roll, California roll, salmon roll, tuna nigiri, unagi nigiri, and a rainbow roll. The rolls were extra small and sliced super thin in order to get 6 slices. Its like they cut their nori rolls in half to be cheap but are still trying to squeeze 6 slices out of them. Speaking of the nori, it was about as rubbery as I've ever had - not sure what makes it that way but this was some chewy sushi. The rolls were delivered with an imperceptibly tiny speck of wasabi - seriously, I put nearly the entire speck on a single slice of a roll and barely tasted it (cheap, weak wasabi as well). The nigiri were fine, a normal amount of tuna and a generous amount of unagi. The rainbow roll however was a complete disaster - it was larger than the other rolls, thankfully (about the size of what you would have expected from a regular roll at any other place), also sliced about 3 molecules thin and stretched across the plate. However, IT HAD RANCH DRESSING ON IT. Yes, go read that again if you are seriously thinking of coming here.
I've eaten a lot of sushi. Once you have fresh fish, it comes down to all the rest - properly prepared rice, the cut, the size, the presentation, the wasabi and ginger, the atmosphere, and the service. Ginger sushi has fresh fish and that's about it. -

I've been going to Ginger Sushi for years. It was never a fancy place but the service was always efficient and the food good.
Now it is my favourite place to go on the Drive. Its makeover, sit down service and new ownership make it even more comfortable and friendly. And the food is always good. The proprietors Vanessa and Kenji make everyone very welcome.
The rolls and cones are excellent and the portions generous. They have wild salmon which can't always be found on the Drive. There's a wide assortment of rolls, sashimi and a little bit of cooked food, mostly teriyaki.
If you frequent the place often you can have your very own pair of chopsticks kept on the wall in a paper sleeve with your name on.
The bill comes with chocolate poco sticks instead of mints and if you're a regular there's often an extra tasting of something that comes your way.1 Previous Review: Show all »
