Before we ever planned our club run to Vancity, Ginger 62 has always been on the map for their line up of supreme EDM talent in the area. On this particular weekend, we lucked out and caught the Ginger 62's 10th Anniversary night on a Saturday. The featured DJ was Norman Doray! We just had to do this experience the right way with bottle service in the VIP.

Unlike Vegas, in Vancity you can take your sweet time on most typical weekends if you have table reservations.  We were having dinner till 9pm, and my buddies were panicking because we had to be at the club normally in Vegas. However in Vancity we had an extra 2 hours to kill so we manage to take a stroll down Granville street. This is the area which is considered the "strip" of the town where all the night life is.  Following a little cardio of watching schwasted club goers on this street after dinner, we came up to the doors of Ginger and I gave them my name on the reservation.

Without wait, we all lined up and walked in. I managed to even sneak an extra person in on our table because they were super chill. No upping your min bullshit out here. Just get in and buy a bottle and have a great time!  As I was walking in with my hostesses, I was offered a complimentary coat check where all I needed to do was tip. The night before at another club, I believe they charged for this service. Needless to say I gave them a sweet tip regardless.

Walking through the lounge area, there are tables setup with a couches and a side bar. The music is banging in this area, but its more of a walkway for people to meet and greet, rather then a rage dance floor. A fun experience here is the Ginger 62 photo booth! You can jump in and take some real time club pics and upload them to FB or Twitter right away and its completely free. I thought this idea was very neat.

Our table was setup behind the DJ booth. We had to walk pass the main dance floor and up some stairs. The DJ booth area is elevated, and behind the booth is about 6-8 tables setup.  We quickly browsed through the menu, and without a question we wanted to ordered the Belvedere bottle and have it on full display.  Once you place an order, the bottle is then emptied out into multiple double shot -shot glasses and place on your table. Then the empty bottle is placed on lamp above your table.   Since you can't have a bottle on your table, this is a good way for the VIP clientele to show off what they have ordered.

Once Norman got on the stage, and we were almost completely schwasted is when the fun began.  We raged out behind the DJ booth and everyone working in there was all high five distance.  I never had such a personal DJ to clientele experience in the states.  The party is on and cracking till 3am, and when Norman closes his set, so does the club. From 2-3am is when the club starts to empty out. I thought this was kind of odd since nobody in the states leaves when a headlining DJ on, especially on this special occasion. Needless to say, we got extra room on the dance floor and were able to show off some shuffle skills.

Shuffling in Canadia was one of our goals, and we accomplished that with full force. With venues like Ginger, EDM in Vancity is definitely going to take off as other places uses this joint as a role model.  I know this place is definitely going to be on my schedule on my next north of the border trip!

Hard to believe Ginger's been around for 10 years already!

Ginger is a great little club. It's definitely a more upscale venue, and the crowd that gets past the ropes is generally reflective of the image they're trying to maintain. The decor exudes a boudoir/burlesque vibe, there's ample seating spread out through the club for sore dancing feet, and a good sized dance floor that's almost always packed with beautiful people.

However, even Ginger has it's off nights and there have been a few times when the place was overrun with Surrey bridge and tunnel crowds, wannabe gangsters, and Asian guidettes.

Fun times are to be had a Ginger, and I'll definitely be back for more.

Ginger 62 has been somewhat hit and miss for me in regards to the music. However, I went last Saturday 13th August with 2 friends and it was THE BEST music ever! I even carried on to the djs after party I loved it so much.

I love the fancy decore. I love the vip section behind the dj bouth. I love the size (not too small not too big) and all in all I love to dance at ginger.

    Good times

When arriving at Ginger the line can be a tough one to get through, and for a good reason, this is home to I would say the overall hottest crowd in the city.

When you walk in the club you will enter the main room, along the right hand side is tables and booths all the way to the back of the room, on the left is the main bar and probably a huge crowd - avoid getting your drinks here, keep going.

When you keep walking you will turn left passed the bar and be in the dance floor and dj area, if you are really thirtsy scurry on passed here and stick to you right you will walk through an entrance to another area with another bar, get your drinks here because it is usually less hectic. After your hands are full of Vodka and Red Bull and you make your way back through the dance floor area you will see the stunning new vip room across the  floor, chances are since you went to the bar though to get your drinks and you don't have bottle service then you will never see the inside of this room.

Overall Ginger's new look is stunning, the crowd is gorgeous, and if you can get inside  then chances are you're going to have a great night.

This is my favorite club in the city for table service (aka bottle service), plain and simple. When making a reservation, request to be sat in the VIP area, there are a few reasons for this, the main one being that the service here is far better , and you will be served a lot quicker. Part of what Ginger has done to increase their VIP services is they have came up with a new method of bottle service. Since in Vancouver you are not allowed to keep your bottles at your table and serve yourself which is frusterating at times, what they have done is put a pole in the middle of each table (only in the VIP room) and on top of the pole is a lit up cage where your bottles are kept, when you want a drink simply flip the light switch and the waitress will come over and serve your drinks - genius.

Under-served, bad music, and repugnant clientele.
A shame, because the decor is neat; swanky-burlesque feel, complete with dancing girls on display, and lots of non-reserved seating. We were entertaining a group of cousins from out of town, and it was easy to book a large group.

But, If you like upscale lounges with good music, and a dressier crowd, don't waste your time.
Note to club-goers: You can do better than blue jeans (especially ladies!!) and bad shoes. Tasteless.

I really love the layout of this club.  I can't think of any other granville bar let alone Vancouver bar that has this much seating inside that isn't set aside as reserved tables.
I didn't find any pretentiousness at the front, but I was there early enough to avoid the lineups.  In late winter on a friday the bar was full and still had enough room inside to maneuver around and buy a drink in a reasonable amount of time.

Ginger 62, these are the 10 things I hate about you:

    1) Your token Cinderella drunk who strikes at 12am
    2) And is dragged through the crowd (in her stilettos, over my toes) out the door.
    2) Your stupidly long line ups
    3) That make me angry when I come early
    4) And realize that nobody's inside.
    5) The unusual amount of greasy men that you allow in
    6) (When there are normal people waiting outside)
    7) Who borderline harass drunken Cinderella over there
    8) Which actually makes me feel semi-guilty/bad for her.
    9) But mostly, I hate you because somehow you can still pull it off
    10) Even when your music is .... meh.

I'm not a frequent clubber and if you're a Vancouver dweller, I'm sure you'll agree why. The crowd is an eclectic mix of Botox-pumped cougars, random internationals and people you'd find frequenting Moxie's or Cactus Club (no offense). But all hate aside, Ginger 62 does allow you to book long guest lists online and has reasonably priced drinks. Parking is crazy as expected since it's on the Granville strip but I usually find a street spot nearby on Howe.

The only thing I look forward to when going to Ginger 62 is eating poutine at Fritz's (around the block corner http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) and pointing and laughing at all the drunken Cinderellas who are in line with me.

Come here if you want to see girls 'dancing'....

More like the Pussy Cat Dolls strip. Which is boring in itself.

Yawn. Bring your own vodka in a flask & just ask for soda water (free).. you'll have more fun people watching & drinking on the couch than actually participating.

The fact that Ginger 62 has a line-up when the club is more than half-empty says it all.  This place is all pomp but no personality.  Inside the place you'll find a mix of conformist types and those who just didn't (or don't) know any better.

I was with a group who should've known better but somehow one drunk friend got his way and we all ended up paying $15 cover to come in, have a shot, listen to good house tracks mixed badly and leave after 20mins.

Not worth the time or money.

What I hate about nightclubs (not only Ginger) is that you make the guest list... but still have to wait at least 30 minutes in line... only to find out that there is NO ONE inside... what is that? .... and I never understood how Vancouver can charge such an expensive cover !!!!

Anyways............... I think that cash machines should dispense change, similar to the ones at Safeway.... because the bartender at the bar definitely did not know how to count my change... and it was not rocket science. Three of us girls bought drinks and my girlfriend had put in a big enough tip for the three of us... I bought a beer and was going to tip originally, but the chick didn't even give me back the correct change (DON'T SHORT CHANGE ME!).. I was pretty ticked off.. and she had walked off so quickly.. but my girl stood up for me and chased her down and made her give me my money back. She looks at me, and squeels at the top of her voice, pretending to be apologetic.

Her colleague goes up to her and she's pointing at us with her dirty looks... sorry lady but it's your fault, don't think I don't know your scheme.

The music is actually okay and there is a live drummer which is super cool.. but watch your money at the bar.

Hot club.  Shame about the personality.

The new Ginger 62 was a long time coming.  A top Vancouver designer gutted and remodeled the interior of the club.  The price tag was steep, the place looks amazing.  The interior feels like a French burlesque house.  There are no negative connotations in that statement.  Everything is at once tasteful and tacky.  The mixed sentiments give the room an electric feel, the old world elements entice.

The room feels distinctly Montreal.  Bottle service compounds this notion.  I love bottle service, throw it into a club and my interest is instantly piqued.

Yes, the room is great.  The clientele is not.

Classic Granville Street party goers.  Tasteless, tacky, rude and pugnacious.  Its painfully evident that these clubbers can't hold their liquor.  I have no respect for this ilk and can not feign it.

The bouncers are notoriously the worst in the city.  We are coming to the club you work at, spending our money and paying your wage.  I get it, you're a goon, brain-dead and have no career options.  But that's not our fault, yes you got dealt a shitty hand in life and now must bounce.  Again, not our fault.  Take some pride in your job and provide the service the industry demands.  Despite my penchant for doing it, I hate being condescended too.  I didn't put up with it from doctors in university, I won't put up with it from simian-esque bouncers clinging to their precious few brain cells.

Even if I could get past the people inside, the simpletons at the door are too much.

Unless you know someone - it's the biggest hassle to even get inside this club! Seriously!

First of all, it's located way at the end of Granville Street, so after you park the car, it'll take another chunk of time to walk to the place. And when you FINALLY get there, you will notice a large line up. Don't even bother to ask the bouncers how long the line will take because you will see many others who have arrived after you walk right in as they give a slick little handshake to the bouncers. BUT if you've stayed this long - when you FINALLY get to the door - the bouncers will look at everyone in your group very carefully and then point out one of your friends saying that he's not wearing the right kind of shoes!

So after the oh-so-long night, you just end up going home; because the guy wearing the wrong shoes was the driver and he didn't have any other shoes in his car (most people wouldn't anyways - so its not really his fault).

Ginger 62 is located on Granville St. in the Granville Entertainment District below the Ramada Inn & Suites.

Came on a Saturday night where a group of buddies and I were wandering the streets of Granville. After scouting out the places of long lines we decided to check out Ginger since it was close by and there wasn't a long line. The place was having a special event that night (I don't know what kind of event). But it was $15 at the door and we all got a free voucher for any cocktail at the bar. (Yay!)

The ambiance of the place was swanky-cool, dark and seemed ultra chill.  It seems like it would be a small area but it's pretty big as you get to wander inside the place.  There are lots of people hanging out and having a good time if they weren't at the bar or by a lounge. Bar was pretty crowded and they did their drinks pretty good. (I had a couple shots).

The place was playing trance music all night long. My buddies and I were able to hang out at the stagette. There were a couple seats available and tables for people to chill and you are dancing along with the DJs. Behind the DJ area is a bar which only does bottle service only if you want to drink in the stagette area.

Although there was some eye-candy in the place. There was also a couple of creepers in the area. If they weren't trying to get into one of your photos with a pal, they were either trying to talk to you and offer you drinks and claiming that they were a "billionaire". (obviously drunkards who needed to leave people ALONE!) Yet again these things happen everywhere.

Women's restroom is in between the bar and the stagette. It was nice to have a guy point me and my friend in the right direction because we were about to walk into the men's restroom which was diagonally across the club.

Aside from the creepers, this place is pretty cool to go to have fun and club the night away.

My friends are getting married in Vancouver, and Ginger 62 was one of their designated spots for pre-wedding festivities.

We were advised to put our names on the list through the website. It looks as though different party promotion companies may operate the lists each weekend night, and a number of us signed up for the guest list (though the way in which it was worded, we "applied" to be on the guest list rather than signing up for the guest list). It turns out that many of us didn't make it on to the guest list; earlier in the evening it was generally fine, though it got more difficult as the night went on. Oh yeah, and $12 cover.

Besides that hassle, it's a cool vibe inside with dark wood interior, lots of low tables, couches and chairs all over the place. It got quite crowded over the course of the night, but it wasn't too tough to get a drink. Drink specials were pretty decent ($6 proseccos!), and bartenders were fast and friendly.

It was billed to me as more of a lounge which would've been more conducive to meeting friends of friends and/or hanging out with old friends, but the music was so loud that conversation was difficult.

3 1/2 stars. I rounded up to 4 stars because I couldn't believe all of the negative reviews. Is it because I am not from Vancouver? I don't get it. We were on the guestlist, but didn't make it on time. There were 5 of us (3 guys, 2 girls) and after explaining that we had gotten lost, and therefore arrived late, we were still granted guestlist privileges.

We DID still pay $15, but that's because we KNEW who Dj Heather was, and she is a GREAT house dj. We heard some really good house music that night. I personally like house music, and I believe they usually spin house here.

The interior was really nice and comfortable. It was dark on the dance floor, while the lounge areas were a perfect dim. Suitable for those who want to engage in conversation.

Shots were reasonably priced. We bought a round of jager bombs for $10/ea.

The crowd was mostly white; maybe a handful of Asians. But everyone was nice. I spoke to a lot of people here. A few of them have even become my friends on FB. Holler! =P

I do have to note that there was a girl here who became EXTREMELY drunk by 12:30am. She was DEAD WEIGHT! Two douches got into a serious verbal argument over who was going to take her home. YIKES! Security took necessary precautions....

Honestly, I have never had a bad experience here. Whether it be the line or the bouncers, I've found them honest and friendly. (My waits to get inside have never been excessive nor unnecessary.) The bars and seating areas, as well as the patrons, are all tastefully decorated.

Bottle service is available, but the bar staff is far too attentive to let go to waste.

This place is built around a more mature crowd, which leads to meeting great people and having great conversations... Which is the reason I have no problem becoming a repeat customer.

On your next visit, make sure you take a walk thru the tassels between couches/tables. The locals seem to really like that. ;P

After a wonderful dinner out with some girlfriends in Yaletown, my girlfriends and I wanted to go dancing and see the bustling town of Vancouver, BC. Mind you we are in our late twenties to mid thirties, so our idea of dancing probably consisted of perhaps Top 40s of some sort and when we were highly recommended by our waiter to go to the Ginger, which by the way isn't just a jaunt from Yaletown, it more like four blocks to west and two blocks to the north. But whatever, we are fit girls and walked in platform heels for about a half in hour in short mini cocktail dress. (My advice for future-next time take a cab! Its freezing in early March)
The dissappointed was when we got there. Its a red rope entrance and the bouncer asked if we had reservations and of course we said no:), he let us in anyway and we walked into a really dark corridor. At the end of the corridor, there was a coat check and cover charge. BTW they only take cash. There is an ATM which is conveniently located inside the club. I believe they had a $2 surcharge, which i wasn't paying since i thankfully brought cash. The cover was $25 a person which we paid (mistake!). The DJ kept playing techno music, which sounded more like the same beat but in different rhythm, which i'm sure is techno music. But you know how when you first enter a club and hope this is just the opening music and then they start playing stuff with actual words. Yeah, didn't happen.
I guess we should have asked more question from our server.
Overall, no one really danced. It was more of a place where people there just people watched and the areas that were 'reserved; I'm sure cost a pretty penny to have reserved.
The venue was cool. It was a hip club but definitely not for the $25 cover.
Later i heard from a local there were actually nicer places and for a lot less that wasn't too far from the Yaletown.
    Lesson learned! :)

One of my favorite clubs.  Swanky.  Great service.  You can easily get a drink even when it's busy.  Big dance floor.  A few different areas to hang out in.  The music is never too loud to talk.  It can get busy so get there early if you want to avoid the line.

This place stresses me out. I just don't get it. Typical tacky pretentious Granville club. More of a lounge, kind of.

I've never just come by here on a random night. Every time I've been here it's either been for promo work, a photo shoot or a private party, so I've only seen the misery others suffer at the hands of the idiot bouncers dragging their knuckles at the front door. I can only imagine how fun it is to wait in an hour line to get into this club, witnessing all the charming Granville passerby screeching at you drunkenly from the sidewalk, only to pay a $12 cover and get hassled by the buffoon standing at the front door, and to enter into an environment that looks like a 20's brothel and mingle with Chachi'd-out losers and skanky cacophonous girls from Maple Ridge who give you the side eye while oozing out of their $180 Talulah Babuton dress and clacking past you in their Jimmy Choos, all while desperately trying to send out that "I'm-cool-cuz-I-go-clubbing-downtown" vibe. I just can't deal with it. it's not worth my time. Even when I was 19 I felt ridiculous here.

The manager and all the staff (EXCLUDING the bouncers) have never been anything but nice to me, so that warrants the one star. The other is for the decor. It's kind of a cool-looking 20's brothel. Like I said, I've done photo shoots in here, and the place is pretty friggin sweet when its not full of assorted club trash. The only thing that gets me is the red shag carpeting everywhere is seriously disgustingly filthy. Along the bars and the sides of the room, the carpet is still bright red, but on any trafficked areas, its faded to a dirty burnt orange-brown. I've had to lie down on it before and not move for an hour. I itched afterwards. Not happy about having to roll around in everyones STD's they stepped in on the bathroom floor. God Ginger - a lady should keep her carpet clean :p

(Side note: Random Story: I was coming here for a promo. As directed, I walk to the front of the line and tell the assholes - I mean bouncers - I'm with the Bacardi people. They are having some sort of problem with the velvet rope - it's stuck and they can't get it to open. I'm 5 min late and still need to change. My boss is texting me telling me to get my ass inside. I say, look, I really need to get inside. The bouncer snaps "Yeah fine! Here!" and grabs the rope, bunching it against the side of the pole. I go, naturally, in a hurry, to step over it, assuming that was what he intended me to do. Well, that was a mistake. I got SCREAMED AT immediately by all three bouncers, "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?? NOOO! NO! NO!" "YOU DON'T FUCKIN EVER DO THAT!! EVER!!" And the bouncer grabs the pole and LIFTS it off the fucking ground for me to walk underneath. "HERE! FUCK! Do that again and you're fuckin gone, I don't care who you're working for!!" Man, I almost lost it. I SO almost fucking lost it. I was late already though, so I just collected my shocked look and went inside. Whoo. First of all, is it really THAT fucking hazardous for me to step over the fucking velvet rope? I know that's a no-no, but I was late and the fucking velvet rope wasn't coming disconnected! Secondly, that fuckhead bouncer may not have cared who I worked for, but his boss sure would have. And mine. If he had not allowed me in, he would have FOR SURE been fired. And what if I had actually been someone important? Would he have still screamed at me? I dunno. I'm done thinking about Ginger.)

On Saturday night for my friend's stagette 12 of us went to Ginger.  I have been many times before but have never reserved a table or gone for any special event before.  About a month ago I sent Ginger an email requesting a reserved table for a stagette.  The contact person there for such things is a girl named Lana.  Her return email was friendly and helpful as she answered all my questions.  It's actually a great place to have a stagette as they let the bride and 3 other girls in for free, reserve you a big table, you get your own server, and you get a free bottle of champagne.  I must have sent about 4 emails to Lana with different questions and she responded promptly and curteously.

When were arrived at Ginger for the big night we went up to the door man and let him know we were there for the stagette.  Right away he tracked down Lana and she came over to welcome us and let us all in right away.  Inside, we were shown to our table and introduced to our server.  Although all the girls in our group ordered a drink from the server, I went up to the bar and ordered my own from the bartender.  I'm not known for my patience and I know that when you order drinks from a server they tent to take longer than getting one for yourself.  I'm glad I did this as I ended up having this great bartender all night.  Of course I can't remember his name but he was a black guy with stylish glasses who was wearing a red hat.  After only 2 times of going up to the bar her knew what I wanted and while he was making the people in front of me their drinks, he also made mine so that when I got up there it was ready for me.  Great service from this guy!  This is the type of service you want when you go out.  I ended up tipping him between $2-3 per drink as I agree with tipping for good service.

I've read some of the other reviews about this place and I just don't get it.  Our group of girls were ages 25-35 and we didn't feel that there were a bunch of young bimbos there.  Sure, there's always a few around when you go out, but at Ginger I mostly find the crowd to be between 25-35, well dressed, and just out for a fun night.

All of us had a good time, the music was great and the live bongo drummer guy was kick-ass!

This is my first time here after Ginger 62 was renovated.  The new interior design is definitely interesting.  I don't see an universal theme, maybe except for fun.  There's a booth inside where you can take those 1 minute pictures, and there's a guy dressed as a bunny dancing on tables and riding a little tricycle around the dance floor.  Definitely different from your usual crowds.  The couches are pretty comfy and there are plenty of them to relax in.  The bartendders were friendly. A nice place to go to with friends for a get together or party.

ahahh Some of the reviews of this place are really entertaining. Nice work Yelpers. I know most of the bouncers in Midtown, so I don't have to put up with a lot of the stuff that people are complaining about here. The crowd can be a bit lame, but the room is nice, and when I have a crowd of friends and a bottle out I don't really care where I am. 4 STAWZ!
