Went to check out Gigantelli's for myself after all the great reviews. I had a car that I was looking to buy, but I thought I would get it checked out mechanically before buying. Well I called them up, and at first found out that they were booked solid because of the long weekend coming up. But Joe made some room and fit me in the next day. Totally surprised me right off the bat.
Brought in the car and they checked it out. Turns out the car was a total waste of money; would cost more to fix than to buy. So they explained everything to me in a way I could understand, and to top it off, he gave me a discount on the check up since he knew I had gone through all this trouble just to find out I wouldn't be buying the car.
Great guys at this shop. Definitely run like a family shop. Will definitely be bringing any mechanical issues to them in the future. -

I seriously can't say enough great things about this place. I'm a woman that's the exact opposite of mechanically inclined and I called them this morning with a car making a noise that convinced my dad the CV joint was about to go. Joe told me they were booking about a week in advance but offered to take my car in for a look. I dropped it off and left for work. About 4 hours later I got a call saying that they had pretty much disassembled my car, took it to the lot beside them and did donuts left and right and drove it down a back alley filled with pot holes and couldn't find a thing wrong with it but suspected it might have been a small rock that got caught in the brakes. These guys could have told me it was going to be a $2000+ fix and I wouldn't have known any differently especially since I told him upfront what I thought it was. You just don't find honesty like these anywhere anymore and the friendly wonderful service is second to none.
I will NEVER bring my car anywhere else. Ever!

If you don't currently have a mechanic, look no further. Hell, even if you DO have a mechanic, look no further!
Gigantelli Auto is a family-owned shop run by the Gigantelli brothers (shocking!). I'm not quite sure if they are co-owners or if Joe runs the whole show. In a nutshell, they are some of the nicest, most honest guys I know.
I know, I know: "What's next, a review on a used car salesman?" But honestly, I simply can't overemphasize how honest these guys are. I've gone into them before thinking my car was totally screwed and would cost thousands of dollars to fix, only to get a call from Joe explaining that it was something minor (i.e., the price tag on the visit had LESS than 4 digits).
There might be other great mechanics in Calgary, but I'm not willing to mess with a great thing. Sometimes it can be a few days wait to get your vehicle in, but that's only because too many Calgarians already know about them! As a fellow Yelper, you deserve to know, too.
