Gig Street Music is one of those new and used stores. It is small and funky. You will find all types of guitars, drums, amps, gadgets, and great staff.
It has that personal touch that you are looking for. The owner goes out of his way, if he knows you are looking for something in-particular, he will search for it and call you when he finds it.
They also offer you repair service. Will build you a guitar and even ship anywhere in the world.
Go have a look, you won't be disappointed. -

Musicians can be an interesting bunch. While most people like to have things that are brand new, musicians seem to hunt the most beat up, warn down pieces of gear to perfect their collections. The proprietors at Gig Street definitely know this and stock a lot of quality vintage gear.
Some people seem interested in the beat up aesthetic alone, while others subscribe to the theory that well used guitars are like fine wines that get better with age. Either way, Gig Street has you covered. Some of the gear in this shop looks like it has been through hell and back, but when you plug into one of their amps, it sounds incredible. Unfortunately, this kind of quality doesn't come cheap and you can expect to pay a pretty penny for some of the more rare instruments.
But hey, like any big-ticket purchase, a guitar is an investment. If you find the exact axe you're looking for it can be easy to justify the price tag. If you're looking for a guitar with some character to channel your inner Hendrix or Richards, Gig Street will almost definitely have you covered. -

Gig Street might be a dream come true for musicians in this city, but maybe not the spot for first timers to go.
The used guitars in here can make your hair stand on end. There are beautiful instruments on display. Guitars that tell their history through their burn marks and paint scratches, amps and vintage peddles that fire up warmly...it's essentially heaven for those in the market for a classic sound.
That classic sound will cost you a sizable amount of money, but if you're so dedicated then money is rarely a problem.
I find the staff in this store to be rather cold, but that may have to do with the fact that I didn't give the impression that I was looking to buy. Still, from the brief conversation we had I could tell that they know their stuff and are passionate about their business. This is nice, even though they do give off that music elitist vibe from time to time.
Despite this minor gripe, Gig Street is a great alternative to the big music chain stores in the HRM and a must see for fans of vintage gear. -

Gig Street Music is a unique location for the music lover that has a passion for the Guitar. I remember when Bruce the owner seen my Dad's jumbo Gibson's guitar and he took it in his hands and played that like a dream.
When you walk into Gig street you will find all types of guitars both old and new looking for someone to take them home.
Not being a guitar player myself I have asked Gig Street a few times is he is going to start to offer guitar lessons and hopefully soon this will happen as this is one thing that is on my bucket list.
Go check this place out of anything.
