I love their ice cream crepes! I have never gotten one of their savory ones because I can't help myself, but to get one of those sweet ice cream and nutella filled ones :). They have crepes you can choose from on their menu or you can make your own. They have a few flavors of ice cream that I have never heard of before, so it's a new good taste. I typically get one of their ice creams depending on what I'm in the mood for and add nutella and some kind of fruit, like bananas or strawberries. It is so good!

It is cash only, unless you reach a certain total, then you could use your card.
I think the prices are decent for what you get because it is very tastey.

The place is small and can pack up pretty fast at night, but during the day is not as busy. There is no place to sit but outside. It can sometimes be cold eating your delicious crepe out there, but that's ok! It is a convenience store with lots of Asian snacks, drinks, and miscellanious things to buy, too.

Parking here can sometimes be difficult to find. I typically have to drive around for a while before getting lucky with a spot.

I have always read yelp reviews, but have never actually written one.

Genki Crepes..... you will be my first review!

When I first moved to the city and found you about 4 years ago, I seriously had your #17 with any type of cheese at least twice a week.  The teriyaki beef, green onions, cheese and that sauce is the shiiiiiii.... High or sober,  #17 is a winner.  I think there was one week that I had a savory crepe 4 days in a row... alternating between the sausage one and the good ole # 17.

$10 limit on all cards.... Get some snacks.

No hot sauce... go to Quickly across the street and get some there.

Crepes, move aside! I could care less about them...

But ice cream?! Yum yum in my tum tum! Genki has some delectable ice cream. It's rich, creamy, and not a single bit of icy. I love it! You can taste the quality of their exotic flavors. So far I've tried honeydew and lychee, both are great. I love the lychee though.

I'll be back to try all of the flavors! There's only about 6 or so. $2.50 single scoop in a cup or cone.

above average crepes here, I like their savory crepes more than their desert ones. My go to crepe here is a mushroom, tomato crepe with ham and jack cheese. On the rare occasion when I am feeling a desert crepe, I will get the nutella with bananas and marshmallows. Only thing i do not like is the lack of a seating area and the fact that the bigger girl who works there does not seem to like to smile much.

Genki just doesn't compare to Sophie's, but in times of desperation and ridiculous carb/sugar/fat cravings, this will do the trick. I remember coming here in high school and seeing a pigeon flying loose in the store while the crepe-makers were just chillen, making the crepes like there wasn't a rabies-infested creature causing a ruckus in their store. Hahaha good times, Genki. Good times.

Love that I can get me some Asian snacks, car fresheners, random plush things, and crepes all in the same place.

Mmmm.. crispy thin crepes.. I got the ham and cheese crepe, Delicious at first but towards the middle, I suffered through a cheese and mayo overload. I never thought I could have enough of both, but it was actually a little overwhelming with just one piece of lettuce to balance it out.

The boy toy got a nutella crepe with fruit. That was delicious too but I have more of a salt and cheese tooth than a sweet tooth.

I will definitely be back for more crepes and ask for an extra piece of lettuce or 2.

It was my first time, so I walked in not knowing what to expect. Immediately my attention was fixed on all the japanese toys, foods, and beauty products. Not gonna lie, but I found myself in the beauty products. I was gonna buy some products for my face, but i couldn't read japanese, so I ended up not buying it.

ANYWAYS, the food. I was in the mood for food, but also ice cream. So i ordered #17, which was a crepes with beef, your choice of cheese, and green onions. IT WAS AMAZING! DELICIOUS! I WAS SATISFIED. My friends kept wanting another bite from me, but i was like, NOOO!

This place was sorta small, and really, it isn't a restaurant. It's like a small market you find at a gas station, except it has lots of toys and beauty products. So don't expect too much. Anyways I also got an ice cream crepe because i'm a fat ass and I really wanted to try. I got Green tea ice cream and it wasn't that good at all. I should have gotten a different flavor. OH WELL. try it out. GET #17 CAUSE IT'S REALLY GOOOOOD.

Every time I have cravings for crepes, my boy friend will take me to this place.  They make the crepes perfectly crispy.  The menu options here is overwhelming and I usually just tell them what I want.

The place lacks seating as it is part of a convenient store.

We ordered the egg puffs too and it taste just like the ones in HK!

Can't believe I never left a review for Genki!

My fave crepes by far. It's a small shop like a mini mart of asian snacks and such and the corner for crepes! The only downfall is there's not much sitting area for eating your crepes and other goodies besides two benches inside and another outside. If you come on a rainy day, that 2nd bench inside basically gets hit by the rain for the most part.

I always get the nutella with lychee and i ask for green tea ice cream The bomb!

I loveee Genki's Crepes!! The crepe is always perfectly crispy, and I love how the ice cream melts towards the bottom.... the combination of green tea ice cream, nutella, strawberries and bananas is amazing. Soo yummy! Boyfriend and I always stop by after getting some chicken wings at San Tung! As full as I may be, I always have room for one of Genki's crepes! :)

5 stars, because it's seriously that good!

Semi-embarrassing story.  Went here on a date after dinner a few months ago.  Ate our crepe in his car while he drives me home.  Talked, laughed, thought to myself I was quite the charmer.  Get dropped off.  Walked to my bathroom.  Turned on the lights.  There was Nutella smeared on my chin, like a blob of it.  Shook my head in complete embarrassment.  Either he was really nice and didn't want to say anything to embarrass me or it was dark in his car and he didn't notice it at all.  I never asked him about it and he never mentioned it afterward.  Therefore, it never happened in my book.

I absolutely adore Genki Crepes.  Sure, there's usually a line but it's worth the wait.  There sweet crepes are a lot better than the one in Japantown.  The fruits are fresh, the crepe batter is perfection, and they make their crepes with love.  I also love how this place has every single flavor of hi-chew, special flavor Pocky and hard to find yummy Asian candy (Marshmallows stuffed with strawberry cream are my favorite).

How does Quickly's even stay in business!?
(regarding to the Quickly's RIGHT across the street, I hope your reading this!)

This magical Japanese mini mart is home to the best crepes in town, and then some!

    No Contest:
    - Genki's Ice Cream Crepes are no runner-up to "Sophie's" or "Belly Good Crepes" (in Japantown).
    - The Snack and Savory Crepes blow "Crepe House" out of the water, as well as for the price!
    - The Egg Puffs trumps "Eggettes" (in the Sunset) by far with their delicious pancake-like batter and over 8 varieties of flavors: Regular, Chocolate, Red Bean, Honeydew, etc! Eggettes only  has 3 flavors at a time.. comon, egg puffs is in your name!
    - What? Genki has tapioca drink too? You better believe they trump "Quickly's", because they do!

My favorite Crepe to order for half a decade now is still the Green Tea Ice Cream + Lychee! I love the lychee pieces the best! Soo good..

Don't forget this is also a Japanese grocery shop that sells a bunch of imported random goodies, from candies to merchandise to miscellaneous car doo-dads! (I usually just stop by to pick up a 2-liter bottle of Aloe drink).

Where else can you get a delicious crepe on Christmas or New Years Eve? That's right, Genki stays open on the holidays too! TOO MUCH WIN.

The place itself is inside a small market type ish store. Been here a few times, and I definitely have a favorite. I always get the Green Tea Ice Cream Crepe with Red Bean Paste and Whipped Cream, but there's plenty of options. So goodd. The portion is pretty big especially if you come here for dessert after dinner. I came here after dinner with my girlfriend, and one order was enough for the two of us. You can get this for around 5$ which is a great price for dessert for two.

This place has a minimum charge for credit/debit card, so bring cash.

Let me just say, every time I think of crepes GENKIS is the first and only thing that pops into my head but sadly I live too far to enjoy it. I had my first experience at GENKIS on my first trip to SF and boy was I glad my now bf introduced me to this place. The first time I got the cheesecake and chocolate ice cream combo and boy was it ever so delicious and my bf got the strawberry ice cream with kiwis. Yum! My mouth salivates as I write this review. I can't wait til I get to go back to try the other delicious combos and perhaps make one of my own.

Btw, this place gets packed but don't let that stray you because it definitely is worth it :D

OH MY YUMMY!!! I am a huge fan of Crepes a Go Go and I have finally found a to go crepe that compares! Big plus that it's in an Asian market too (filled with Asian snacks and drinks).

I made my own crepe (Ham, cheese, spinach and mushrooms). They have a variety of cheeses to choose from but not Monterey Jack.  I ordered one crepe for around $6 and within minutes I was biting into pure happiness. They serve it a paper cone and the bottom is wrapped in foil to catch the juices. They gave me extra cheese per my request. Everything in the crepe was flavorful and I'm glad they don't use simple deli ham. BEST part of the crepe was the crepe itself. Perfect crunch and perfect flavor. The crepe wasn't dry and held it flavor with the toppings.

I wish we had a place like this in San Jose!!

I just love crepes but I'm still scared to try a nonfruit one. This place is part store, and crepe. I spent like 1 hour watching the people make crepes it's so interesting. The crepe is also big so I got a bit full off of it. Got ice cream inside and it was all over and not just one spot.

Long overdue, sorry Genki...better late than never, right?

This is the kind of place that brings you in even if you've just had a massive bowl of Pho right next door...the aromas of fresh hot crepes, mixed with nutella, whipped cream, cheesecake, etc are just too strong for me to avoid.

My fav is a crepe with custard, blueberry sauce, cheesecake and whipped cream-I do this about 3X a year and it is divine and worth every single calorie. My normal to-go crepe is a scoop of ice cream with nutella, still awesome. I think its important to note that they have a delicious honeydew ice cream that I really like all on its own too. I've never had a savory crepe here, sorry!

Prices are pretty affordable for dessert and what you get, bring cash unless you plan to spend at least $10 here with an atm card. The store itself has tons of cute asian items-from make-up to little packaged snacks (dried fish or fruity gummies?), I always enjoy looking at everything while I wait for my crepe.

Dont let the crowds scare you, even at its peak hours its only about a 7-10 min wait at max to get your scrumptious crepe in your hands. Enjoy!

I think I would come back!

I ordered the #1 of the ice cream crepes which was the original Vanilla Ice Cream in a crepe with my choice of whatever ONE topping I wanted. But I got two and ordered nutella and bananas.

    Yum.

    P.S. Credit/debit cards are accepted after $10, I believe.

CREPES! CREPES! CREPES! I really like the crepes here. I usually always order a Nutella w/ Strawberries. Sometimes I get Nutella w/ Cheesecake & Strawberry Ice Cream & it's SOOO DELICIOUS! I only order that when I feel like going "all-out," haha. I love the crispy texture to it. Also, I like how you can hold it in one hand, which comes in handy when you're driving. They have tons of choices for crepes, both savory & sweet..I always get the sweet ones though. Tons of toppings. They have tapioca drinks, ice cream, egg puffs as well.

Lots of asian snacks, candy, & drinks located here. You always can find something. My go-to's are Pocky & Hi-Chew Candy.

The wait can get ridiculous. Sooo many people go to Genki Crepes..you're either waiting to order or waiting for your order. Hopefully you come at the beginning of the "rush." Or try going during non-peak hours..maybe you'll just get lucky.

There's 2 small benches inside to wait &/or eat your order. There's also 2 tables outside.

Parking is...non-existent, haha! Super hard to find parking for multiple reasons: it's Clement, lots of busy businesses around, people who were there first & are already circling around, & more. You really have to be lucky or go at a really odd hour/time. Late nights (especially Friday & Saturday) are the hardest. Good luck!

    CASH ONLY.

Dessert crepes from Genki are like tasty on top of awesome with a side of fantastic on a bed of delicious. Oh yeah, rounded out by bliss. Let me explain.

Tasty, classic American and Asian ice cream flavors to choose from. Fantastic topping choices, from staples like nutella and whipped cream to Japanese favorites like red bean paste. Delicious, perfect, hot, sweet, fresh crepe wrapping it all up. And the bliss? That's the harmony of enjoying it all in one hand-held dessert, AND knowing that there are (thousands? millions?) of possible flavor combinations just waiting for you to try.

As other reviewers have mentioned, your indulgence isn't cut short by Genki closing -- they're open pretty late and normally stay open on holidays. You may have to be patient for your creation, but fortunately there are shelves crammed with Japanese imports to peruse, and a large bulletin board filled with strange postings. The only downside is a lack of indoor seating upon which to savor your just-made scrumptious treat, but those witty people at Genki knew that your joy was likely to cause oversight in your normally perfectly clean and tidy eating habits, leading to all kinds of goodness spilling onto the sidewalk on Clement Street, instead of in their tiny store and cafe.

They do actually offer many options for savory crepes and even other food categories, but who are you kidding? If you're hungry, just get two desserts.

Pretty fast service and the prices aren't too high. My advice? Ignore the savory crepes and go directly to dessert! So many great flavors and you can walk around Clement Street enjoying your crepe. My friends and I like to go there for dessert after eating at Bhurma Superstar or the pizza place down the street. A great way to end your day!

Ooh they sure do know how to make one mean dessert crepe! I like how their crepes are balanced in terms of flavor - nothing so sweet that by the time you're done, you've got a stomache.

Try the green tea ice cream with red bean paste - they're not heavy on the paste which I love. The lychee ice cream crepe was amazing... so rich in lychee flavor! I'm not a nutella fan but I have heard nothing but great reviews for it here. Eggettes (regular or chocolate) are always safe to get.

Oh and you know those yummy green tea kit kats that you can only find in Japan? Well, don't hate me for blasting the secret (or maybe it isn't a secret anymore) but they sell 'em here! Yup. But only if you can find them in the store...they sell out alot.

Located across the street from Burma Superstar, coming for Genki Crepes after dinner was a given. But having built them up for 1.5+ years since I first visited, my most recent visit to Genki Crepes was a bit of a let down ... and after just having Sophie's Crepes not too long ago, I couldn't help but to compare the two.

Maybe I was overly stuffed from dinner and had no room for dessert, but I didn't find our crepe all that memorable. We had evidently ordered the exact same crepe as our first visit - strawberries, custard, no nutella??!, lychee ice cream, and whipped cream. The crepe itself was a bit *too* crispy, giving away to no chewiness. Overly crispiness could have probably been remidied with some vocalization and monitoring... but that what switched me off from Genki - though my boyfriend loved it! The lychee ice cream was overly icy and left me longing for the gelato from Sophies. The custard was also more like the cream on top of asian fruit tarts than egg pudding - which was what I was expecting, though I guess thats not something to knock them down for? IDK; maybe my expectations were too high... but I think I prefer Sophie's Crepes to Genki's... not to say I won't stop by again the next time I make my rounds at Burma Superstar.

Worth noting, my boyfriend says he likes Genki's better than Sophie's... so I guess its all down to preference.

It kind of sucks that there aren't tables like some crepe places I've been to, but the benches by the entrance and outside aren't bad.

    What I ordered:
Vanilla ice Cream + Nutella Crepe (C-)

Maybe I have higher standards or maybe I'm just completely uneducated in the world of crepes but i've had better.

I prefer my crepes to be warm and soft, like a fresh off the stove thin pancake. The crepes at Genki just reminded me of an ice cream cone. I got the vanilla ice cream + nutella option, it was just whatever...hard, flaky, cold. To me, eating a crepe should be like having sex: salivating, warm, exciting, and sometimes a little messy. Genki's crepes is the sex you regret as soon as you get into it and hate yourself afterwards for it.

I finally tried a crepe from Genki: Red bean ice cream, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream ($4.95). The crepe was very thin and crispy. I didn't like how it was so brittle. You can see that it is cracked in multiple places. The batter reminded me of fortune cookies. The red bean ice cream was creamy but didn't have enough red bean flavor. Three stars.

I do like their mini mart though (good selection of Japanese candy and snacks), so I gave them an extra star for their Japanese candy and snacks.

This place makes one of the best dessert crepes in San Francisco. Also, their shakes aren't bad, and their egg puffs are crispy chewy heaven. Prices are good, but it's cash only when under $10? I think. I love browsing through all the miscellaneous items they sell in their market.
This is my go-to place for ice cream crepes when I don't feel like going all the way out in the avenues on Judah (Crepe Temptations, my favorite).
If you like soft crepes (yuck), go elsewhere.

Oh my, after all the hype with this place, it's about time I finally tried it!

I came here with my best friend and siblings on a semi-warm afternoon. After having a filling lunch, of course we'd be down for some sweet treats. And naturally, genkis came to mind since I never tried it before. Note: parking is really  scarce here. If you're lucky, you'll prolly find parking by the meter. But if not, residential is your best bet.

I was surprised to find that it was connected to a mini market. I had the idea that it was it's own store, but it's okay, it's pretty convenient.

My sister ordered a green tea ice cream & red bean paste crepe, I ordered a banana, honey & almond crepe, and my best friend ordered a banana custard crepe. The batter is really crunchy and it's super sweet. It definitely works with the condiments :)

Sucks though cuz they only accept cash :(.

Definitely will come back to try the rest!

Just went here yesterday for the millionth time.  I swear, if Genki crepes flashes through my thought process for even a split second, nothing can stop me from munching on a deeelish, crunchy sweet crepe from there!  It always reminds me of eating these handheld, ice cream cone like crepes (my personally preferred style of crepes, very different experience than French execution!) during my stay in Japan.  Pretty much ate two of these a day.

Anyway, adore the little shop it resides in - fun little Japanese toys and imported snacks, candies, and drinks.  Bright decor and lighting, and ALWAYS crackin' with folks.  There's a few bench for seating, but really, I love that these crepes are styled to easily eat them standing or for on-the-go.  Never had the savory ones, but I'm sure they're just as bomb.  Very little wait time and open late!!

Would for surely recommend anything with nutella, almonds, or honey.  If you want to go super cra-zay, try the cheesecake or chocolate cake crepes.  Blow your mind.

Got the nutella + banana + strawberries with extra green tea ice-cream.  The crepe itself was good.  Thin and crispy on the side.  But the service was just soso.  Not very friendly and polite.

I'm really surprised to see all the good reviews this place has. If you're coming here for crepes, I would ask you to pass. You'll find much better crepes at japantown or Haight for the same price. I've been here maybe 5-6 times considering my school is fairly close, and all of the crepes I had there were bland and there's nothing special about them. I gave this place two stars because they offer a larger variety of Asian candies in-store which is difficult to just find anywhere else.

We came here late to have some dessert and I really wasn't that impressed ONLY because I ordered the wrong thing. I had the apple and brown butter crepe and my friend had the nutella and banana crepe. Her crepewas pretty good but mine was dry and not too flavorful. Next time I go in, I'd love to try some ice cream with mine. (definitely getting the Nutella)

Lots of Japanese candies and snacks selection.
Lots of sweet or savory crepes. I usually go for ice cream crepes..either green tea ice cream w azuki or red bean ice cream w mangos. Crepes are crunchy on the top and soft/chewy with ice cream.
    Savory crepes are cheesy!
Popular in evenings with younger generations

This place is great for dessert on the go. I got the nutella and banana crepe. The crepe was nice and crispy and there was a good amount of nutella and banana filling on the inside. They also have some benches if you want to sit down and eat. The store is also filled with a lot of snacks and drinks.

    =)
I usually come just for the blueberry cheesecake crepe, though I took a longer look at the menu as I was waiting for them and some of the boba options look pretty good. Might have to try it one day.

LA LA LA. Crepe is lightly crisp and NOT soggy and comes with a good amount of filling.... num num num.......... I usually share b/c you get REALLY full off one crepe.

Also nice that they have 2 benches, one inside and one outside, for people to wait, or to sit and chat if it's not too busy :)

A must stop if you're in the area or SF proper in general. Loved that this place was open late when I had a sweet tooth craving. The crepes are both filling and delicious. I was expecting one of those dinky crepes you can get at restaurants on a plate, but NOOOO it's a HUGE crepe folded and served like an ice cream cone. ^^

For about $5 a crepe, these are nom nom nom and wallet friendly. I got the strawberry, nutella and cheesecake crepe. I enjoyed every bite of it. The crepe itself was a little crispy and thicker than a normal crepe which I loved.

There is an asian market right past the crepe stand so you can get your fix of asian snacks and products while you wait for your crepes.

There are also other snacks like boba and egg puffs. It's also pretty fun standing outside the window and watching the workers make the crepes and waffles! :D

A big fan!  After a big meal you can find me wanting a dessert especially if I am in the city since I don't frequest it often living in East Coco County.  I actually asked my husband if we could go to Sophie's Crepes the only crepe spot I know in japantown which is known for having a huge line.  My hub mentioned it to his father that we wanted crepes for dessert and told us about Genki!  We all met there.  And I was so excited because first of all NO LINE, and it was a cute little store that had candies, and sanrio type stuff as well goodies from candy to drinks.  WOuld definitely love to go back!

I sort of made my own Crepe: It was pretty loaded.  I had vanilla and green tea ice cream, cut up strawberries and bananas as well as whip cream and chocolate syrup.  I was in heaven!!!

Oh man, right when you walk in the store the aroma of fresh delicious crepes smack you in the face!

It was a good idea to follow Toucan Sam's advice: " Follow your nose"

If you are reading a buncha reviews to figure out yay or nay, let me just tell you right now:

    YAY!
