Half stars would be helpful here. I'd probably give it 3.5/5. My first time at a German restaurant. Loved the food, loved the selection. Loved the taste. Pretty authentic German cuisine but it loses marks for presentation. And the decor could be updated a little. The menus came in laminated sheets, and the dessert menu was pretty tattered.
Had (400ml) pints of the dark beer (I forget the name). Very tasty - advertised as dark and is kind of porter-esque without going there. They also drop off a warm loaf of their bread, which is absolutely delicious.
Apps - Matjesfilet Hausfrauen Art (pickled herring) and Schinkenteller Westphalen Art (cured meat plate). These were pretty pricey for what you get, but are good. Could use a bit more pumpernickel with them.
Main - Zigeuner Schnitzel comes with gypsy sauce (sweet & sour) with some sweet veg. The schnitzel is pork. Tasty, especially with the sauce. Some might say it's too salty, but I like salt.
