Review from Jim C.
My first experience was back when their location was in the North End of the City. A 2 min walk every friday for little torpedo mini keg was a treat.
They had dreams & plans which meant moving to the sweet waterfront location in front of the Seaport Farmers Market.
What hasn't changed are the excellent brews that seemingly crop up every 3 months.
Every summer, they host the Seaport Beerfest and their space allows for private functions. Speaking of Summer, the proximity to the port means a lineup whenever a cruise ship docks. Standard hours and usually open when you really need some suds.
The growler setup is that you buy the bottles and refill it. You can opt into the system and get a discount after your 10th fill up.
Pints average around 5$ with a few limited editions a little higher. 6 pack of standard bottles is around 13$.
They are very engaged via social media and supportive of local business.Listed in: Fill Your Growler

A brewery reviewed by a girl who doesn't particularly like beer! I know. This isn't a good start to a review. But I went here for a tour for a friend's birthday and while not exactly a tour (they were in the middle of brewing - which we could see happening) that was okay by all in attendance (as a working brewery, we get that they have to actually make the beer). The staff was pretty great and it was a nice evening out with a lot of beer ($12 tour got us 5 beer) to drink. We were able to bring our own munchies and just kick back like it was someone's living room. It was a nice way to get out of the house on a birthday and do something different.
I've got a feeling that if one was a beer fan, this would be an even better review. (The amber beer was pretty good by my non-beer drinking standards).Listed in: 30 Days of Yelping

The people and beer at Garrison are some of the best! Always a fan of a good brew, and always a sucker for microbreweries, they easily deliver on all counts.
A true gem in amongst buildings at the Seaport, Garrison is a great place to pop in during a walk on the waterfront if you ever visit the city, but regardless of why you visit, just do, you won't be disappointed at all!Listed in: The Quintessential Halifax…

So this is one of Halifax's fine breweries that you're able to visit, sample at and buy beer. It's kinda tucked away around the Halifax Seaport, so it's not exactly the place you'd walk to every day. However, on that note, it's right next to the Halifax Farmer's Market, which is amazing cause it's a perfect place to go after shopping with the hordes on Saturday.
Garrison has some pretty interesting flavours if you ask me. Take a peek inside their fridge and you'll notice raspberry wheats, coast to coast "mashups" and blueberry beers. My personal favorite that i found really interesting was the Hop Yard Pale. It's funny cause at first they told me it would kinda smell like lychee, and then have hints of grapefruit in it. Well, being skeptical I didn't really think it would taste like that, I mean I'm drinking beer, not a cooler. None the less, that's exactly what it tasted/smelled like. Amazing... wtf. Also... what the hell does a Jalapeno Ale taste like... *shiver*.
Samples there are a buck each for a little cup (or it may be 2 dollars, i don't remember). It's nice cause you don't have to have a giant glass of something that you may not enjoy.
Personally one of my favorite varieties was the Irish Red. It's not the best red I had, but I think it's my Garrison of choice. -

Super friendly staff, great beer, and cheap growlers. And, you know, walking distance from home. Pretty much perfect.

Garrison Beer has stole my heart.
First, the beer is tasty and refreshing. My favorite is the Raspberry Wheat. Cool and refreshing. There are tons to choose from as well, Hopyard, Jalapeno, Blackberry Wheat (which is second to my Raspberry Wheat) etc..and you can mix 'n' match bottles. They also have their own pop now too!
Second, you can sample anything on tap for cheap!
Third, Garrison offers a brewery tour for $12 per person which includes 5 beer. (Hello, buzz!)
Fourth, and most importantly Garrison was open on Canada Day!!Listed in: Before the Hangover

Great beer, friendly staff, and you can customize your beer case to what you want. As far as our local microbreweries go, this one is my favorite. A nice selection of brews, size options, and did I mention that you can customize your beer case?
Beer love all the way!
They also are great at sponsoring local events and artists. I love the sense of community they have with Halifax.
Oh, and let's not forget about their brewery tour where you can see where the magic all happens.
5 stars all the way for these folks. I don't get "wowed" often, but Garrison... WOW. -

Another review to pimp Garrison's Brewery 'Tours'.
More of an inexpensive way to book the brewery for an event than an actual tour, the Garrison experience is very cool and laid back.
$12 gets you 5 beers and 90 minutes to drink them in. Bring your own food, your own tunes, and 9 of your best friends (they have a 10 person minimum and will charge you for people who don't show).
The staff are very friendly and approachable, the beers beyond reproach, and the ambiance cosy and comfortable. I recommend!Listed in: Downtown Gems, Rocktober!

Garrison knows beer. They make a great selection of brews (the Raspberry Wheat is my favorite, and the Hop Yard Pale is a close second), their prices are reasonable, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable on every aspect of their product. The Brewery Tours, while not actually much of a "tour", offer some pretty fantastic bang for your buck. The only trouble is that you may not have enough time to finish all 5... but that's not such a horrible problem to have.

Garrison Brewery not only has great beers but also a pretty reasonably priced tour.
I highly recommend that you plan a tour with Garrison the next time you have a few people coming to visit; it's an excellent start to a night out! The only disappointment with regard to the tour is that you don't really 'tour'. The brewery employees sort of point and say: this is a vat but you don't really see the process through. Nonetheless, Garrison is a pretty economical choice no matter how you slice it with tour prices running from $12-$16 depending on the time of day you sign up. I don't recall anyone hitting their ceiling in terms of 'allowable samples' either.
'Garrison' currently brews the following: Tall Ship Amber, Irish Red, Nut Brown, Martello Stout, Imperial Pale and my personal favorite, the Raspberry Wheat.
Garrison isn't your typical dingy brew house either! The interior is modern with large wooden beams. Overall, a great place to enjoy a few beers with friends. -

Great place across the street from the cruise terminal. $2 for a small pour, I think 6 oz. You can get bottles and growlers too. Staff are friendly.

A little enthusiasm and a U-turn on a Friday afternoon can land you at the Garrison Brewing Company looking for a bottle of brew to sate a craving.
Andrew and I hopped into this hop-shop and realized that neither of us had ever ventured in before. The space is great. The brewing tanks are visible through a pane of glass and there is a cozy little space offside where some patrons were sipping samples. You can choose from a variety of Garrison's beers here, as well as paraphernalia, including tees and caps.
The gentleman at the counter was friendly and offered us some assistance. Andrew eventually decided on a bottle of their $7 barley wine, titled the "Ol' Fog Burner." He'll be sampling is momentarily, so I'll have to report back on the flavor rating (I'm sure it will be grand).
This is a great local brewery with a lovely store on the waterfront. Take a trip down and pick up some cold brews directly from the source! -

We were on a cruise that stopped in Halifax and the first thing I see is the Garrison Brewing Company.
Tired of the bottled Bud, Miller....blah blah blah options on the cruise ship, we pull in here for a little something refreshing.
Although it appears they do brew their beer there, I didn't see any signs advertising a brewery tour. The place is basically a tasting room with a gift shop.
We tried a few of their beers on tap... $2.00 tastings for what I'm guessing is a 6oz taste.... It was good. Nothing amazing, but some nice beers.... way better than the bottled crap they served on the ship.
If you are really thirsty, I suggest buying a large bottle from their gift shop refrigerator (instead of something on tap).... I think you bet a little more beer for your money... and you can still enjoy it in their tasting room!
If you are a micro brew fan, this is worth going a few minutes out of your way for a quick sample and I have to admit, they had some cool t-shirts in their gift shop. -

This brewery has a nice little bar in the front. They make really good beers here. I went for the sampler which I really liked. The bartender was friendly, knew his beers and was nice and talkative.

Despite a power outage darkening the first ten minutes of our visit, I enjoyed my time at the Garrison Brewery. I was there for a "brewery tour", a term which is apparently used very lightly in this town as no tour was given (for more evidence see also Propeller Brewery review). Beer, however, was plentiful and tasty. We paid $15 for essentially unlimited amounts of glass-sized "samples". We were able to try a special chili pepper brew that had been made in a limited batch - too hot for most, but an interesting flavour. The staff were pretty cool, and fun to talk to, but mostly it was about the beer.
