Lots of ambiance. Great setting.
They have some really nice Fireplaces in this restaurant that are functional and they use them. It helps set the mood.
This place is quite busy. When I was there they had several business dinners going at once as well as couples eating. The wait was only about 20 minutes.
Our food was delicious. And they have great drinks.
The place is a bit Mediterranean/Greek. Not quite Italian but an Italian could be happy here. They have fantastic Fish and chowder. The salads are delicious. They can augment their recipes to meet your needs if your good at communicating those needs.
The service was A+ the food was about 3.5-4 stars. It was a bit pricey but worth it. The desserts were fantastic. I had fried Ice Cream for dessert. I had a pasta dish with Shrimp that was spicy and tasty.
I recommend. You should try it.
There are better places down by the water in downtown Victoria - but for the Langford area this was good eating. -

A great gem in the Heart of Langford. You wouldn't think it, but the dining here is fantastic. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food is dynamic and fresh. I was absolutely blown away.
I've had lunch here from time to time, which has been great, but the dinner menu completely changes things. Romantic setting for nice evenings out, but allows for larger groups to spread out and enjoy. -

The Garlic Rose Cafe is closed. The new restaurant in this location is Sabhai Thai Restaurant 250-590-5039. Haven't eaten there yet but as soon as I do I'll post a review.

This place is busy and we had a seafood pasta and fish and chips. A bit pricey but at least we were full after. I like the spicy crispy batter on the fish and the pasta was tasty.

First, I gotta say, it's weird that there is "Cafe" in the title of the Garlic Rose. I would say it's more of a Bar & Grille... on with the review.
On some other review sites, people bashed the service there... well, that's not entirely unfounded. We came through the door to a half full restaurant and were told it would be a few minutes before we were seated. Then we were seated and didn't hear back from a server for 15 minutes. No water... nothing.
That ends the bad part of this review. Our server came to the table and apologized for the delay, and our service was nothing short of prompt through the rest of the meal. The caesar was satisfactory but the garlic baguette slices that game with it were simply stellar. My wife had the tenderloin and I had the blackened flat iron steak with crab. I made a mistake ordering that, the blackened steak paled in comparison to my wife's tenderloin, though the flat iron wasn't bad.... it wasn't impressive. They gave me 6 crab legs.. that was just crazy talk. Lots of work but lots of meat as well, and for $33? Get out. I don't know what kind of pricing to expect in Langford/Victoria, but in Seattle you're not getting this quality of food for that price.
So in short, good show Garlic Rose. I can't say I'd drive from Victoria to eat here, but it was by the Amore Bed and Breakfast, and we'll happily return next time we stay here.
