Review from Brian S.
I have driven by the Garden Buffet many times, but until recently, I have never stopped there. It's location is in a newly developed area of Windsor as so many things have seemed to "pop" up down here on Walker Rd.
When I came here, I had to wonder if this would be as good as Manadrin in Toronto and although it is not quite as good, the Garden Buffet is a good place for what it is. Is it authentic ? Are there better places in Windsor for Chinese food ? Of course there is and in some way maybe this is like the tex mex of Chinese places, but the Garden Buffet is nice, clean and probably even a "date spot' as it's atmosphere is nice.
The food here is 3 Stars or perhaps slightly better, but the thing about the Garden Buffet is that it is the best Chinese Buffet in the Detroit/Windsor area when you consider food and atmosphere. Nothing in Detroit currently compares to the Garden Buffet. The prices are a little higher than some of the other places in Windsor and quite in line with those in Detroit.
The sushi here is not too bad,, but not epic. The food overall was very fresh and of high quality, but on my visit, I was also here at a busy time which was a Sunday afternoon. I did not experience anything to that of what Mr Simon one review to his credit experienced here, but again this is not as great as some of the little holes in the wall that you will find on Wyandotte either.
Is Garden Buffet worth it ? I would say that it is if you are hungry.
Better than any Detroit Chinese Buffet. -

Man, this place is pretty bad. Not your usual Chinese-Buffet-in-a-strip-mall bad (ie violent food poisoning), admittedly, but bad.
The food was uninspiring and looked like it had been out for about 12 hours. Tough beef, tough ribs and even tough fish (didn't know that was possible!) was the main selection. When you're at a buffet and you are filing up on (bland) rice just so you won't be hungry, you know you're not getting the best Buffet experience.
The sushi bar is dire - especially when you consider the excellent all-you-can-eat experience at Tenko Sushi a few doors South.
I won't be coming here again, that's for sure. Very poor showing indeed, although the staff were friendly and pleasant enough, and it was definitely clean. But that won't save the experience. -

I've been going to the Garden buffet since they opened. I think it is the best Chinese buffet in Windsor, when it comes to cleanliness, food quality and service.
They used to offer an order sheet for sushi, and the server brings your special order sushi to your table. Unfortunately, they don't do it anymore!
The sushi bar is OK, not a big selection and is a typical buffet sushi quality.
on the weekends, the crab legs are really good quality (king) most of the time. Only on couple times, I had bad luck with the crab and it wasn't that great.
The Prime rib is good. The only down side I find, is the salad bar which is minimal. -

UPDATE: Since the first time I went to Garden Buffet they've improved. Kids are now charged differently and it's more reasonably priced for them.
Having given it a couple more chances I feel it deserves an increase in rating. The food is fresh and well prepared. It doesn't offer a HUGE variety but it's a good variety. The thing that makes them stand apart is that they also offer a mongolian bbq service, and sushi. Even at your table you can order rolls of sushi that aren't found at the buffet and they will prepare and bring it to your table.
The sushi itself is prepared very nicely and is actually really good. The price tag for all you can eat sushi alone is reasonable. Plus they seem to have crab legs every night and that sells a lot of people. Wasn't that much of a fan at first but I've become one now.1 Previous Review: Show all »

It's an okay place but I found it expensive for what you get. They charge similar to the Mandarin… Read more »
