Remember folks, every last Thursday of the month everything is 10% off!
I love this location and as they say "The rest is history." -

This past week I finally convinced the husband that we NEED to stop by the new location for Galloway's in Burnaby. Luckily we do have a vehicle so it's not too bad for us. If you were on foot, it's not a convenient location but then if I were on foot, I probably wouldn't have heard of it either.
The products they offer and at the prices the sell at is well worth the drive. Until he met me, my husband never knew that inexpensive and bulk spices existed. Now he's as much of a fan as I am and we already have our next excursion arranged. -

After driving by Galloway's every week since it's opened, I finally decided to give it a look. I am impressed!! You will only be able to get there if you have a car, but it's worth it. I got a lot of G-Free products for a fraction of the price, some items are more expensive than getting it at the store- but their flour and spices section is amazing.
You can also order products online and pick them up at their 2 locations. Also if you order 3+ more products, it's usually cheaper (not on all products)- I've finally found a place that sells my rice cakes for cheap!!! YES!! -

Go for the selection, but not for the ambiance.
Galloway's has an unbelievable selection of all sorts of items, including an impressive number of spices, flours and bulk pastas. They also have tons of stuff for baking, including chocolate products, nuts and dried fruits. Their prices are very competitive and they always have weekly specials.
The only critique I would have is that while the Glenlyon location is bright and new, it has the feel of a dreary, bargain-basement warehouse. In other words, it's not a particularly inspiring environment to shop in.
This location of Galloway's is definitely not walkable, but if you have wheels, it's easy to find along Marine Way (the closest major intersection is Marine and Boundary) and there's always ample parking out front.
It's definitely worth checking out. -

Warehouse location for bulk foods. Lot's of obscure ingredients for your cooking needs. This is a little out of the way for me, but if I need something specific, I would come here if I can't find it elsewhere.

I've been meaning to go to Galloway's for years - today I finally made it to this location as I was in the area.
I went specifically for a spice, garam masala.. I knew that would had it. Funny, my impression was that they'd have bins of spices that you could fill your own bag. Silly me!
I also bought some israeli couscous (so much love for this I can't even tell you..) and some granulated cane sugar that was on sale!
I noticed they had a few decorating items for cupcakes (so many different sugars, wow), and that was awesome too.
Other items I could find for way cheaper at my grocery store or other stores. Example: Herdez salsa jar for $5? $2 at Fred Meyer in Washington..
However, if you are on a special diet, this is the place for you! -

Today I had the pleasure of going to Galloway's Specialty Foods new location in Burnaby.
I have heard (on Yelp mostly) great things about Galloway's, specially about their gluten free (GF) selection.
The store is a decent size, clean and bright. Their merchandising is impeccible. I headed straight to the GF section (it's one of the middle aisles) to scope of some treats. They had a selection of Bob's Red Mill mixes, GF cookies and crackers, loads of rice pasta, and quinoa pasta (though that seemed to be largely sold out). Next I headed to the flour section to scope out prices as I do not currently need any, but I was with my mom and she was puchasing. Pricing on GF flours is definately the best I have seen, the catch is the smallest bag you can buy is 1kg. Which is grand, unless you live in a condo with limited cabinet space (most GF recipes will have 4 or 5 different flours).
From there I explored the rest of the store, including the oil section and jam section (both had delicious looking items).
My purchases of they day were sugar, rice crackers, a bag of crisps, a package of quinoa pasta (first I found in Canada!) and a chocolate bar. I was hungry. The cashier who rang me through and was an absolute delight! She was chatty, told of the story of Galloways (from inception to now), and when a line formed her response was along the lines of "Oh I love lines! I find them so exciting." But geniune. And more exciting - free vitamin D sample with purchase! My mom and I both got a little bottle with 3 vitamin D tablets. Cool bonus!
I will definately head back here for GF baking needs and quinoa pasta (best GF alternative out there in my opinion). For other GF items like cereals they are either on par or slightly more expensive than other places so I wouldn't beeline there to buy them, but if I am there wouldn't hestitate to take advantage of the selection.
