Review from Melissa B.
Peterborough, ON
We love this movie theater.
Its what you'd expect from a Galaxy Cinema. This one here in Peterborough though, shows the 3D versions of movies that not all Galaxy Cinema's offer.
There are about 11 or 12 screens. Some obviously bigger than others. The auditoriums are all clean as far as I am aware, never had a problem with that. Bathrooms are usually a 9/10 for cleanliness I would say.
Popcorn is fantastic. -
Review from Evan H.
Peterborough, ON
Although this is where I go to see the blockbuster releases, I'm a guy who prefers to stay home and watch a movie in the comfort of my own living room. So if I were to pit the Galaxy vs my living room, I'd say that they need to work on seats that didn't make me feel uncomfortable after 3/4 of a movie. Maybe I'm just being picky, but I'm sure I've been in better seating conditions in theatres in Toronto. I'd also like the employees to stop walking back and forth in front of me twice (three times during a long movie) to sign a crinkly piece of paper that everything is hunky-dorey on the far wall (distracting). I'm not sure why there are the three rows of seats of the front of the theatres as the viewing angle is so close, you would be better to just lay on the floor. At least the few times that I have bought a ticket and found myself in a packed room they refunded my money with no hassles (including once where I purchased tickets in advance and had to leave town that evening unexpectedly).
Tickets are $9.99 for adults and $7.99 for kids ($12.99 & $10.99 for 3D) which I appreciate because it is cheaper than Toronto. Tuesday is cheap night, but good luck parking at the underground parking lot as the lot is always full and good luck getting a good seat as the theatres are packed! The prices are as high as expected for confections and there is a New York Fries and Yogen Fruz here as well.
Mind you, the theatre itself is always immaculately clean and the employees are courteous. Galaxy is owned by Cineplex (which used to be my favourite theatre chain), so now that I've begun Yelping I may have to revisit this review after I try a few AMCs to pit them against each other instead of my living room :-P)
