Beer was cold. Tempura was hot. Sushi was yummy. Ref dragon roll the best.

Good, but not awesome, somewhat expensive sushi. Limited variety, to the point that, if you've been there once, no need to go back. There is a WAY better sushi place, cheaper, with exponentially greater variety, sort of hidden but most likely more convenient for you to go to if you're downtown, kind of inconspicuous, in Victoria. I won't be a prick and tell you what it is here on Futaba's page. (It's in my reviews though.) Let me just say we found it and then we were like, ahhhhhhh, now we don't have to go to Futaba anymore, because once was definitely enough.

Futaba is pretty good. I like that they have brown rice options available for their sushi, but find it strange that they charge extra for it on some rolls. Maybe it costs more than white rice and I should just shush, but it still struck me as weird.
I find their hot dishes here pretty great - the agedashi tofu is especially delicious, with a light but flavourful batter, generous portion size and nice sauce. I wish it was served separately from the sauce, as the bottom pieces get incredibly soggy. They do decent tempura and Don dishes as well.
Their miso soup isn't to my liking - it has a lot of stuff in it (mushrooms, radish/pickle, carrots) and I like my miso plain - but others have really enjoyed it when they've had it with me.
It's not the place I'd go first, but there's nothing to complain about. It's decent, with a good selection.
