I always come back to Funky.
My kids try to get me to eat at every other joint. I give them an honest try, but I ALWAYS go back to Funky.
Whole wheat crust, out of the ordinary toppings and no grease.
It's a bit more $$, but to me it is always worth it.
When I'm stumbling out of the Black Dog Freehouse, they are just so nice to be sitting right next door. How sweet.
I also order in. Pizza dude gives me a fridge magnet every time. If you collect 10, you get a free pizza. He usually comes within 30 minutes.Listed in: Underdog Challenge

While the Funky Pickle has one of the best whole wheat crusts I've ever tried (it's firm, but not cardboard-like), but I was disappointed in both the price ($34 for a large delivered pizza with 3 toppings including tax and tip), the quality of, and the distribution of toppings.
When I order spinach on a pizza, I want fresh spinach, not frozen spinach. If Pizza Hut understands this, why can't the Funky Pickle. Also, the pizza suffered from both too little cheese and too little sauce. At least it wasn't too greasy. -

Where else can one go to get as slice of okra and eggplant on goat cheese at 2 am after a night of brain cell annihilation?
I like Funky PIckle's willingness to be adventurous. The prices are a bit high though. -

Pizza...a dish that can be served with anything and everything. Any ingredient can used as a topping for pizza. The mixture of ingredients is the key to a great tasting pizza.
Ladies and gentleman, i bring you the "Funky Pickle"
Now you can be like everyone else and have that regular pepperoni pizza or you can live a little and try their concoctions of flavours. I'm not saying that their is anything wrong with that, but the one thing that blew me away was HONEY drizzled on the pizza if you wish to do so.
This is my routine with funky pickle:
Order that one slice of pizza, any flavour works.
Splash some tabasco and shake some parmesan.
Grab the honey and hold a centimeter above your pizza and drizzle.
How much is up to you.
Then take that bite into pizza bliss.
You may want to have extra napkins around, it can get sticky.
This is great for the after clubbing or party places to grab a snack that everyone loves! -

Some of their pizza is gross, some of it is confusing, but all of it is overrated. Proportion of ingredients is often way out of wack: one veggie pie i had, in lieu of sauce had a layer of herbs a cm thick - it was like eating a pizza someone had stuffed with grass clippings

Ok pizza, but I hope this isn't Edmonton's best. I found it very sweet- almost like there was honey in the sauce.

This is one of the places my friends and I head to after having a few drinks at the pub. Our motto after we drink is "soak it up." We like to stop by Funky Pickle Pizza as we stumble home from our night out. We are not the only ones who believe in soaking up the night's alcohol since there are lots of people in line waiting to grab a slice. If you are not there early enough then you'll miss out on the good stuff. If I make a few recommendations to make your pizza eating experience all that more pleasurable I would suggest the Pepperonly, get it? Pepperonly, Pepperoni. Ha-ha! It actually took me about a minute to realize that! Anyways, as you can imagine this pizza has nothing but pepperoni on it and it's delicious! I would also suggest the Pig Kahuna, which is made with ham, pineapple, and mushrooms and topped with cheddar cheese. The cheddar cheese allows the pizza to become a whole other dinning experience. It's really good. If you like lots of meat on your pizza then I suggest you try the Big Meaty, which has capicolli ham, ground beef, hot pepperoni, mushrooms and onions, oh and to top it off it comes with extra cheese! This is a great pizza and I love the fact that it comes with extra cheese (I like cheese!). If you like things simple and you like the classics then the Last Call Special with pepperoni and mushrooms would be your kind of pizza. If you like your pizza with lots of funky toppings that may not go together try the Funky Chicken with teriyaki chicken, onions, red peppers, sesame seeds, snow peas and bean sprouts. This is a crazy mixture but it's not too bad. I like my pizza simple so it's not one of my favorites.
The staff is great! They have to put up with all these intoxicated people all night long and they remain patient.
I really like this place since you can grab a slice and keep walking around. Unless your drunk, walking and eating is an art I haven't massed yet when I've been drinking.
If you don't want to leave the comfort of your home then you can call for delivery and they even do catering. -

Slices in this city are overpriced in general, but Funky Pickle has the distinction of being somewhat of a gourmet pizza shop so they can get away with it. The weekend nighttime lineups of bar-goers will attest to the satisfying nature of their product. My favourite is the slice with pineapple and hot peppers, and don't forget to take advantage of all the condiments on offer. Funky Pickle is the first place I ever tried honey on pizza, and I look forward to it every time.

Funky Pickle has always felt like a piece of home. In a bar district that's desperate for late-night post-bar munchies venues, Funky Pickle at least partially fills a hole. In Toronto, you can stumble out of a bar and find any number of late-night snack-shacks, pizza-by-the-slice parlors or hot dog vendors ready to fix you up. In Edmonton, it's very difficult to find a pizza joint that sells by the pie piece. In Toronto, it's a given. I miss that. Funky Pickle isn't the best pizza in the world. The closest I've gotten to that is the Wicked Wedge in Calgary and Famoso's Naples-style pizza, which is amazing. But Funky Pickle is very good. The ingredients are fresh, there are lots of great toppings and it's the closest you can get to gourmet pizza at a fast-food establishment. They could take a few tips from Wicked Wedge with their crust. Crust has so much wasted potential. But Wicked Wedge gives sweet E-town just a little more cosmopolitan edge.
