If you're looking for cheap, good, fill-your-stomach kind of Japanese food I'd recommend Fukuroku Express.

I usually order their set menus or just a good bowl of chicken udon ($6). Their chicken udon is filled with chicken, at times the skin is still left on, not appreciated by me, but may be by others. The udon is always bouncy and chewy. The broth is rich with flavour, may be the MSG talking? As for set menus I order the Noodle Set ($8), which comes with a small portion of udon, chicken teriyaki, vegetable/ebi tempura and 6 california rolls. The udon is as above, the chicken teriyaki is soft and the sauce is good, wish there was more each time. There is usually too much tempura batter for my taste, but I just rip off the excess. Never been a fan of California rolls but theirs aren't bad.

I've ordered their party trays a few times before too but I have not since for a while, only because the quality wasn't there for the price. I found other party trays more worth it. But if you're close and in a hurry, it's not terrible.

Free water is by the cashier. There's a TV where we watched part of the Nucks game once. Seating is a little old but it'll do.

Overall, for a quick Japanese fix, Fukuroku is A-OK!

I don't know what everyone is trippin about! the food's not that bad... I remember when Fukuroku used to have their own large restaurant with the floating sushi boats  on the corner of 3 road and browngate right where HKYK hotpot is now! Man that place was bumpin on a Friday and Saturday night.. well until  the ALL YOU CAN EAT restos came sprouting out..

Now lets fast forward to now.. A new location (right under Superstore) a lot smaller (only a few tables) and pretty cozy! (Food Network was on)  I just recently came here just for a bite after work and  the food i ordered was delicious! The Tempura Unagi was crunchy and very flavorful. and the Shark fin sushi was the bomb diggy! Try it for your self and u be the judge.

Fuks is a ok in my book! ;)

I remember those days back in highshool.. I always come to this place to get their combo!! It comes with chicken teriyaki don, udon noodle, California rolls, miso soup and salad :-) HUGE portion for the price that I paid for!!

However as a young innocent, inexperienced high school kid, I didn't know that quality of the food was not that good until I get out of the world and tasted many, different and much better quality food!!

Overall, since I had my memories at this place.. I will give it two stars for the experience but not for the food.

Chopsticks...what's the first thing one might think if when they think of sushi...chopsticks. Apparently when you order from Fukuroku you must also request chopsticks.

Not to mention the missing soy sauce, this place was minimums only from the beginning. From the clipped conversation over the phone to the deliver and ditch experienced at the door, I was hoping that the food would be better than the paltry customer service.

Alas I was wrong, from the moment we cracked open the tiny plastic case the room was filled with the scents of yesterdays fish market. Now not only were we gypped on chopsticks and sushi pieces, the sushi we had in our possession was overwhelmingly fishy.

In my moderate sushi experience, normally if the fish is fresh it is not fishy at all. The fishy fragrance lingered on the couch and in the air until all we could do was package the dinner as bio hazard, and watch our $28.00 slip away.

I was going to review all the pieces we did try, but whats the point, just don't go here. Richmond is known for its sushi, so another place is just a stones throw away.

Bottom line...I think Mr. Greek makes better sushi; that's the point, they don't and neither should Fukuroku.

If you are shopping at Superstore on No. 3 Road and desperately need to find a platter of something to take to a party or family event, this may be your place. The sushi quality is not all that high and the rice is so so..not a big fan. There is a bit of convenience, though. Sometimes this place is right where you need it. The prices are low....it reflects everything else and exemplifies a familiar old saying.

Sure this place is convenient if you're shopping at Superstore, but seriously I can't see how anyone could call this place good.

As the name implies it's meant as an "express" type of place.  You can equate it to food court sushi.  Everything is practically prepackaged and you just pick and pay.

I suppose it meets a certain need, but at this rate you're better off getting cooked food from the section within Superstore.

Meh - the only big selling point of this place is that it is conveniently located under Superstore.  Otherwise the whole experience was underwhelming.  The sushi was passable.  I found the rice was too wet giving it a weird texture.  Service wasn't that great either.  The whole ordering process was not friendly at all.  Will not be going back.  They use to be a lot better.
