How much do I need a Dia de los Muertos flask? How much do I need a mirrored, cylindrical, star-shaped candle holder? How much do I need a Mexican wrestler light switch plate?

SO much, my Yelper friends. So. freaking. much.

I loved this store! The employee and owner were wonderful and nice. I went on CInco de Mayo, meaning everything was 40% off. So needless to say, I went kinda crazy. I bought a screen printed tshirt, a flower bobby pin, and a dia de los muertos esque sugar skull bead to make a bracelet with. Loved the place and will definitely be back! The store layout was really cool, too.

This store is wonderful! It has tons of Mexican, Latin-American, and local artisan/unique items (paintings, wall hangings, crafted pillows, bags, etc.). I ran there last minute for a Day of the Dead wedding cake topper. Not only did I find what I wanted, there was a large selection of various  theme toppers/statues from Mexico, Peru, etc. Also, Alex, the owner is a doll. He is so helpful and patient. I will definitely return there the next time I need another unique and beautiful gift.

Was showing my brother around town and happened to run along this store. Tons of artesanias from all over Latin America, reminded me of being back home in Mexico.Although, funnily enough, I ended up taking home a Ramones mounted screen print made by a local artist. The owner, Alex from Barcelona, is a great person and took pleasure in telling me all about the artists that craft much of the items in the store . There was too much to see that I wanted it all, and surprisingly he felt they were quite low on inventory since the Spring shipment was yet to arrive! Definitely a store to visit repeatedly!

This shop reminds me of South Street in Philly. A one-stop shop for all things cool gifts for everyone on your list (including yourself). It was hard not to walk out of here with bags full of stuff.

I immediately began taking photos as everything was so cool and the owner approached me so I would stop taking photos. I told him it was for Yelp and he said... in that case, snap away! I still felt weird though so I just shopped after that. The owner was SO SWEET and full of tons of information. He loves to talk though so once you strike up a convo, you will be there for a while. It's awesome to hear all about the local artists though.

Everything really had a sense of love, being made from the heart. I grabbed some small gifts and a pair of gorgeous earrings and handmade paper for an art project. There was a huge sale going on at the time which I am pretty sure happens a lot so you must stop in.

Yes, definitely very friendly staff.  There was a woman there helping me with everything while I was there.  There is so much stuff there, and if you are like me and like anything skulls, this is THE place to go.  They also have jewelry and books and a bunch of other stuff you don't need but want.  I think if you are needing to buy a gift for someone who doesn't want a bath set, you could come here and find something interesting.

    What a great find!!!
How could you not love this place.....
I found this store on Yelp and was immediately drawn in by the pictures. Such an interesting store with fabulous finds. I love that each piece in the store has a story behind it. It really makes everything have a "special" quality.

I really had to contain myself from buying one of everything. And the owner is such a sweet man, it was a joy meeting him and a joy shopping in this store.

This is my favorite little store ever. I find myself stopping here much more often than I need to and picking up funny pretty little things for my apartment. The owner is the best person in the whole world. He always makes my day a little more happy and sunny after I walk to him. Seriously. I love the unique jewelry and little thiings you can hang from your ceiling. There is almost always some type of sale.

From the window of the store, you just know that Fuego 718 is a store full of fun, interesting things. Everyone has pretty much said everything, but here is a quick rundown of the store.

    - Alex is a very friendly owner. He listens to reggae and sings along to it. He is also more than happy to tell you anything about every product in his store. You can tell that he is very passionate about his business.
    - Lots of sacred hearts. I don't know much about them but the store has a lot of Mexican sacred hearts.
    - Huge selection of Day of the Dead items.
    - My favorite thing in the store: coasters with fat naked women on them.

This place is just incredible.  Filled to the brim with hand-picked adornments from all over the world (with a specific nod to Mexico), most of which are handmade by living artists.  The owner, Alex, is so nice you think "how can someone be so nice?"  But he is.  Loves what he does, and treats customers like old friends.  Beautiful gift-wrapping and thoughtful customer service that just seems unheard of these days.  First encountered it while visiting Brooklyn a few month back and just ordered some gifts to be shipped over the phone.  I am a customer for life!

Fuego 718 is such an interesting and fun little shop.  When we went in they had the most excellent cross section of Day of the Dead themed items, and artist's creations.  I can't think of a single item there I've seen anywhere else.  This is truly a unique place.

Also, the owner, I presume, is this warm and friendly man from Barcelona. He was chatting us up about the Hungarian items he is currently selling (my fiancee is Hungarian), living in New York and visiting Barcelona.  5 minutes more in his shop and I think we would have invited him to our wedding.

My husband and I own a tequila bar in Jax Bch Florida. Our bar/restaurant is decorated with a  day of the dead theme. We recently took a trip to NYC and I yelped day of the dead shopping! So of course I had to go see fuego. I walked in and immediately felt like I was exactly where I wanted to be. And stay there! Alex  the owner is the most loving, kind, and passionate person I have met in a long time. When you own a store like this I don't think you could be any other way. It is filled with items from all over Mexico and items from local artists that Alex has hand picked. This store is now one of my favorite places on earth. Go in and meet Alex it will be well worth it!

You might, nay... have, to go to this store if you like beautiful hand-crafted art and you love Dia De Los Muertos.

However, if you need a reason to love people again... just go by and visit the owner Alex.  He's just one of those people who seems larger than life.  I'm a pretty stoic and cynical person at times and after walking out of that store I was a bit softer around the edges.

Seriously, when was the last time you wanted to hug a shop owner you -just- met while running around stressed out?

We jokingly made up stories on the way to the party that the figurines are actually made of small children that Alex has melted down.  It's the only way you can be that wonderful and nice... there simply must be some massive evil to balance it out.

    Just kidding Alex!

We'll be back to empty your shelves many more times.  I'm actually excited about Christmas shopping this year just so I get to go back to the store.

You will find the right gift here. Prices vary as much as the choices, but it is all reasonable. The theme is international, handcrafted (without being cheesy) and unique. Many items are traditionally Mexican, but they also sell handmade housewares and bags.

Just being in there is an adventure for the eyes, and the staff are super kind too.

Wow... These were the first words that came into my head when I walked in. What drew me inside was the "day of the dead" merchandise that they have. Upon going towards the back they have a great selection of handmade decorations that can liven you room. They also have purses, wallets, bags and even stationary. This is a one of a kind store.

I love the "sacred hearts" that they have displayed on the green wall. You will  find a lot of one of a kinda, eclectic pieces here. I'm gonna be redecorating my room soon and I will be coming in to get some nice pieces.

Being an artist myself, I was excited when I spotted the store front conveniently located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The 2 big windows on the front were wonderfully displayed with amazing colorful merchandise, I felt like a child in a candy store. The minute I stepped in, the aroma of oils scents made me smile as I walked down the aisle. I was inspired  as I spotted one of a kind pieces such as handmade jewelry, mirrors, blankets, post card, stationary paper, handbags, Dia de los Muertos switch plates, lighters, books, pop culture screen-print canvas paper.  The selection of unique decorative things are just endless. Enjoy, smile and happy shopping. By the way, the paper  shopping bag Alex gives you is a plus.

    Sincerely,

This is why I love NY

While walking around trendy Williamsburg, the boyfriend and I came across this gem of a store.  I was immediately pulled in by the Mexican art and the Dia de los Muertos items.  And the sale sign (25% off everything in celebration of Dia de los Muertos).  Cha-ching!  This store automatically made a new friend and customer!

We were greated by Alex, the coolest, nicest and most passionate business owner I have met in a long time.  He let us look for the longest time but was readily available if we had any questions.

I loved how he had stories for certain items, especially the street art and the recycled art from Haiti.  But, I totally fell for the Dia de los Muertos art and the Frida Kahlo items.  The selection is absolutely superb....try not to find a cool gift item here...I dare you!  The lucky boyfriend scored a new wallet for his bday from this place, while I scored some art for my bare-ass walls back in Michigan.

Honestly, I wanted to buy up half the store. I'm a nerd for latin american and street art...and Alex gets my nerdiness.  I only wish I brought a bigger suitcase so I could packed in more stuff from his store.  Honestly, I cannot wait to return to Brooklyn and this store!

This is a very cute shop, so many random and hard to find items can be found here.  I've only seen male employees working but they all have been very helpful, friendly and allowed you to browse without following you or making you feel forced to purchase. If you need anything regarding dia de los muertos( day of the dead)  they probably have it. It's definitely a hidden gem.

I adore this shop.  It all starts with the supreme care, love and attention to detail that you'll notice as soon as you enter.  Here is a store owner who gives a shit about each and every person who walks in the door. It's impossible to leave here without finding something for your friend, mom, dad, brother, great grandmother, you name it and make that 10 more items that you, yourself, will come to find that you cannot live without.

You will find:  unique jewelry, crafts, wallets, Day of the Dead items, creations from all over the world (concentration on Latin America), hats, and other gorgeous trinkets.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

There are certain shops you make sure to visit when you're in a gifting kinda mood. Fuego 718 is for those who enjoy presenting friends and family with unique, kooky gifts to reflect their unique, kooky selves.

I probably spent a solid 20 minutes browsing this store, fascinated by all the Dia de los Muertos-esque merchandise, handmade items, vintage accessories and stationery. You won't leave the store without wanting to take home at least one thing you spotted in the shop. The owner is very knowledgeable about his merchandise and will happily tell you the background of an item you're curious about. Not in the pushy "this is why you should buy it" way, but more like an "oh, you like that? it's actually pretty cool because..." kinda way.

I popped in post-election week so everything in the store was 25% off. It was really cute, the owner said it was an "Obama celebration"! He even walked me next door to the bar when I had to use the ladies' room because his shop didn't have one. "It's okay," he reassured me with a smile, "they're my friends."

If you don't come back for the neat gift possibilities (which you will), come back for Alex, the sweet, friendly owner. It'll be like visiting an old friend.

Alex is the nicest man in all of Williamsburg. Except after 2 margaritas, he gets a little sassy.

Fuego, formerly Love Shine 718, is one of the most unique little boutiques around. There are handmade items here from Haiti to Peru to Brooklyn herself. With almost every item in the store, he can tell you about the person who made it. There are tiny Dia de los muertes figurines, silver milagros from all over the world, resin jewelry, screenprinted giant skull pillows, finger puppets. If you ever dropped the ball and forgot someone's birthday, you can pop over here and grab something that'll look like you put a world of thought into it. Not that I've, uh, ever... uh, yeah. Anyway.

This place is fantastic and I always feel happy when I'm around Alex.

If you're looking for beautifully crafted, handmade gifts, (for others or yourself) THIS is the place. Fuego 718 offers everything from kitschy to classy.  I know i'll be the gazillionth person to say it, but Alex IS the sweetest man on the face of the planet.  Every time I come in, he lets me wander about, points out things that he thinks, rightly so, I might like.  He even gives you the whose its and hows its of the artist, where it's from and how it's made.

Once I went in and they were having a huge sale.  The hand stitched pillows I wanted weren't in stock, but Alex jotted down my name & number and said when they came in, he would call me immediately and honor the sale price from that weekend!

Yesterday I bought a beautiful figurine of an almost Dia De Los Muertos Mother Mary. Hand-painted in hot pink, turquoise, black & yellow, it was EXACTLY what I was looking for as a mantle piece. I also bought a light switch plate (which was buy 2 get 1) and a heart-shaped, hand-painted wall decoration for $12, and he let me pick out another, on the house, to make it even.

If you haven't been yet, GO. Even if you're just killing time.

I stopped in this little boutique last weekend and was truly impressed.  They had a really unique selection of purses and other bags, throw pillows, knick-knacks, etc.  I zeroed in on a small wristlet purse made out of gum wrappers - really cool and durable looking!  I was told by the extremely friendly owner that they were from a project with Honduran families - the families make the bags and get 50% of the profits from each sale.  Nothing like feeling good about something you buy.

I did go back the next day to buy my friend one of the bags, and I might stop in another time if I need an interesting gift, but otherwise I can't think of a reason to regularly shop there.  Maybe around Dias de Los Muertos I'll be back to buy some of the cool skeleton figurines.

I truly truly love Fuego. Alex, the owner, is one of the nicest people I've met in the whole wide city, as mentioned by other reviewers. He's really helpful if you have any questions about the merchandise or need suggestions for a gift.

The products themselves are lovely wonderful things. Much of it is unique, like my recently acquired ceramic Hand of Fatima or embossed iron sacred heart. When I spend a little while looking around in here I often get the stories behind the products which is especially nice. So, if you're looking for some neat things to give your (or someone else's) home a splash of warmth, this is the place! (Like everyone says, the Dia de los Muertos stuff is particularly awesome- the luchador items I've seen recently are super cool too.)

Go! Talk to Alex! Get some neat things, or at least look at them in all their hand-crafted glory!

As it seems to be the consensus with all the other yelpers... fuego is en FUEGO!!

Who knew Dia de los Muertos paraphernalia, paper mache wrestlers, and other hand made trinkets could be the winning combination??

Completely baffled by what to purchase 15 coworkers for the Holidays I moseyed into Fuego 718 hoping I could find something for everyone.. something meaningful, but yet for the right price of course.

Not only did I find 15 personalized gifts at a great price, I also found a new friend, Alex, the owner. Alex was so kind-- so kind in fact I think I can say without doubt that he is the NICEST shop owner in the greater NY area. Yup, I said it.

I stopped in this little shop on my last day in New York, after having heard lots of great things about it from my sister and friends.

The store is wonderful. It has a great collection of Dia de los muertos statues, that are reasonably priced for that kind of stuff. Especially after whatever sale the store is having at the time. Tons of mirrors, pillows, bags, jewelry bits, etc. This is probably one of the best places to get quirky housewarming gifts or to buy some things to give your place a little character. The prices range from pretty expensive to student affordable, so there's some for everyone.

Another great thing about the store is the way it's put together. You can easily spend an hour in the tiny space trying to look at everything and never get bored. If you're in a rush trying to pick something up, this place will slow you down in a delightful way. Chaotic in the best way. Even on your way out, you have to stop to look at something you missed. In my case, it was beautifully drawn black and white post cards, that I probably would have bought a ton of if I hadn't already spent money I hadn't expected to.

Now, the single best thing about Fuego is Alex, the owner. As many others have noted, he is hilarious and charming. If you can't afford the stuff at the shop, just go to see him. Good people make your day better, and he is great people. He's also a great owner. He wrapped my package up in a cardboard box because he knew I was traveling with it, and even decorated it with little paper flowers.

There was not an unpleasant minute spent in Fuego. If I lived in New York, this would be a huge problem for me, as I would probably spend most of my paychecks there.

I love this store. Even if I weren't actually looking to buy something, I'd probably peak my head in just for a little eye candy or for a friendly greeting from the owner. This is a guy that clearly enjoys his job; he's always super nice and happy to give you background info on his items or on the artists that make the items.

Also, I think every time we've been in there, everything in the store has been 20% off.

I literally had to check out three times in a row because on the way out I found something else I wanted. It seemed like Alex, the awesome owner, made the discount greater each time I returned to the register. (Which was fine by me.)
THE place to go in the Burg if you need a present fast and have NO idea what to get. Mark my word.
