LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place.
Was travelling for work and was put up in this fantastic old house. I was so pleased! The character, charm and beauty is amazing. The staff are so amazing, and the breakfast - SLAP MY ASS AND CALL ME SALLY - love it! Fresh, home made, tons of it...if you are ever in Kingston...DO NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!!! -

This is IT!
I came here for a wedding (the entire inn was reserved) and when I looked the place up online it didn't seem like anything special. I was SO wrong.
Every room is a different color, with one of a kind decor and personality. The building was once a bank, and after that it was a Gentleman's Club (in the early 1900's I believe). They called themselves the Order of Odd Fellows, and had a creed that involved aiding the distressed, teaching the orphans, things of that ilk. The bathroom beside the library features their certificate, along with several group photos that feature sharply dressed young men in front of the club. It made me want to create my own Order of Odd People and take exclusive photos in our club that happens to feature a BOWLING ALLEY (now defunct).
A cool little area would be the comfort station where the bank's vault used to be. Still vault-like in appearance, they have tea for the guests and tons of games to play (Anti-Monopoly anyone? Trivial Pursuit?). The room is the perfect for unwinding after a day of standing (cough..wedding...cough) to enjoy a cup of tea (or booze) and rifle through trivial pursuit questions.
The garden, while very, very buggy this time of the year, boasts a hammock and several seating areas. The bedrooms are sumptuously decorated with perfectly coordinated linens and wooden accents. The fanciest suite (where the bride and groom stayed) featured a GIGANTIC jacuzzi and a large shower. It is a bathroom fit for a King and Queen!
Another great thing about the Frontenac Club is its location. It's a mere 2 blocks from the water, from which you can spy the great Wolf Island and its gigantic windmills. A few blocks down is a wonderful park that seems to have live music going on during the weekends and many a Canadian black squirrel.
I had a great time at the Frontenac Club, and while I wasn't your every day inn guest, I'm sure that I would give the place 5.5 stars if I could stay there for a night! It was perfect. And come on...the Order of Odd Fellows? 5 stars ALL THE WAY.
