Looking for some quick takeout fish and chips? This a great place to go. Delicious, fresh haddock two-piece fish and chips are $10.00 and very fast. I had this and a cup of coffee which was ready in about 5 minutes. The waiters/waitresses were very nice and attentive, but there were no table menus and you had to order at the front. This place was obviously designed as a quick bite to eat type of diner. The coffee was pretty cheap flavoured as well and was probably sitting there for a while, though nothing unexpected.
This place is ideal for cheap takeout, a quick sit in, or even a fun time with your family, but I don't think I'd come here with my friends.Listed in: Classics

I was 100% underwhelmed with Fries and Company, the Fish was basically floating in grease and had a bit of a odd taste (maybe the oil was old). The portions of fish were giant but I would rather have smaller portions of better fish. As a side I did have the sweet potato fries and they were not horrible but the fish was put on top so there was allot of excess grease that poured off the fish.
One positive note it was very fast (5 mins tops) and price point was good $12 for a 2 piece with sweet potato fries. But the fish was so nasty I only had about half of 1 piece and tossed the grease soaked fries so not a good value. -

Pretty decent fries but kind of 'meh' everything else, if I'm being completely honest.
The inside doesn't improve much over the exterior, staff stick behind a walled-in counter, waiting silently until you figure out what you want, and your order is handed back through the window five minutes later in disposable dishes. Pretty down and dirty, no frills fry restaurant.
If you do go, dare to be different and try your poutine Newfoundland style with gravy and dressing (as in, Thanksgiving stuffing but finer) instead of gravy and curds. I can't say it competes with the cheese variety in my opinion, but it's definitely worth a bite to say you've tried it!Listed in: North Enders, Shameful., Poutine Powerhouses

Fries and company has been around sine 1974 and still located at 2603 Connolly Street. Going there as a small kids I used to love the fish and chips it was a real treat back then.
Over the years the location has changed adding a second floor for more setting, fireplace that keeps you warm on those winter days. The menu has burgers as well if you are not a fish fan. The gravy I think is one of the BEST around and the homemade fries are delicious. One thing that I like is that batter is light and golden brown so that you can actually taste the fish.
Again a favorite on payday. -

This is a long-standing neighbourhood restaurant that's been serving straight-up fish and chips for many years, and will probably continue to do so for many more.
The haddock is always fresh and is cooked to order (everything is deep-fried, of course). An order of clams and chips is overflowing with delicious clams (not clam strips), and the scallops are as tasty as deep-fried scallops should be.
There's a small eat-in section, and the place is crazy busy with all the local Catholics on Friday nights! The employees can handle "busy" though, and there's very little chaos or confusion, even when the shop is overflowing with takers-out. -

We popped into Fries and Co. today to check out the clams. We'd heard good things (through Yelp, of course!) and were eager to test the waters.
The first thing we saw when walking through the door was that the dining area was small. Very small. (Remember this for later in our story.) We placed our orders at the counter, noting with approval that taxes are included in the displayed prices.
We then went to take a table while we waited for the food. The only table left was a middle booth that was entirely inadequate to seat three of us. The benches were short and the width between the benches and table was incredibly narrow. We ended up with the table diagonal to accommodate the three of us, and not comfortably at that. We noted that there was an upstairs to the dining area, but unfortunately it was closed at this time of day.
The food arrived in short order and we found that it was as good as we had been promised. The clams, although small, were beautifully fried and there was an adequate serving (we had ordered a small). The hand-cut fries were delicious; almost as good as the ones I can make at home.
All in all, it was a promising visit. I'd like to go back when the upstairs is open, in order to give it a thorough evaluation. -

This is probably one of the Best Fish and Chips I know of. Growing up around it, it was our favorite. Small but Good.
Fresh fish (Haddock) , Home Made Fries. (this makes a big difference for me). Fast and Good. It has a downstairs eating area as well as upstairs.
When you are there, read some of the articles on the wall. It has a lot of interesting stuff.
