Yay!  So glad I finally stopped in to see the new location.  Great to have them back in the area.  Great take out (there are seats to eat-in) and fresh seafood.  Feels like I'm back in Vineyard Haven.

Bummer. I was very disappointed.  So I finally stopped in for take out.  I got the fried haddock sandwich with fries.  The fries were frozen and greasy..  The haddock sandwich was not good.  Tasted  very fishy and frozen.  I had such high hopes their take out would be good.

I'm so, so happy to write a good review for this place!  We have some great restaurants in Arlington but a seafood place has been missing from the list.

I got the fried haddock and it was so good and NOT GREASY.  That is such a rarity with fried seafood!

    We will definitely order again!

I waited for this place to reopen and was so happy that it is almost just a walk from my house! They have fresh seafood (a rarity these days) and the place is super clean. The giant lobster pools put the grocery store fish tanks to shame! I ordered a few days ahead of Christmas eve (four 1.5 pound live lobsters). Based on my experience last year at a place in Cambridge I was expecting an hour wait. I am glad to say that I am in and out in 10 minutes.
Some folks have said that they want baked seafood here or non-fried. I find it just a slight bonus that they offer prepard seafood. The chowder is great, never tried anything else. I am just happy they keep it real and focus on the fresh uncooked fish and lobsters and I hope they become an Arlington legend like their namesake was in Cambridge!

What a bummer! I'm not sure what Arlingtonians expect from a fish market, but this Cape Cod native is seriously underwhelmed. I've lived in the Cambridge/Somerville area for over 15 years and when I moved to Arlington I was willing to head through the traffic to get my fish in East Cambridge. But when I heard about a new fish market opening in my neighborhood, well, I was thrilled!

I headed over yesterday to get ingredients for my Portuguese fisherman's stew and was immediately regretful that I hadn't gone to Cambridge. The glass case was so filled with moisture you couldn't see the fish. They had a minimal selection and not on ice. I asked if they had fresh cod and the nice young woman pointed me to the Scrod. At this point it was clear to me that they weren't top notch. I don't want "some young white fish", I want cod. They did separate the fillets from the tails, but they were not the same price and no one could tell me the origin of the fish.  (and to me its not the same thing, I want to know exactly where my food comes from and what kid of fish I'm eating Cod or Haddock) UGH!

Off to the shellfish, which origins were also unknown, and well, for those that care it makes a difference. The meat of the mussels  after cooked were tiny and grey, not huge and orange. The clams however were a pleasant surprise. Well most of them anyway.

Finally I asked the sales girl if they had any fish stock and she led me to the freezer and handed me a bag of frozen fish. Sigh. $34 later I get home open my bag of scrod and inspect it closer and it was not fresh. Eatable, may have been frozen, but not fresh at all.

I want to support my local vendors, I was excited to have a local fish market, but with quality that hardly reflects our mere 4 miles from the sea, well Ill still brave the traffic over to East Cambridge for my fish.

The freshest seafood, at reasonable prices, served by the friendliest people, in a super convenient location with tons of parking... This is exactly what Arlington needed. These great folks will even boil your lobster for you, so you don't have to deal with the hassle or fear factor of doing it yourself. Oh, and they have sushi-grade fish as well. Or, if you're feeling lazy, let them do the cooking for you and order a lobster roll, crab cakes, calamari, fried clams... So good!

I'd almost forgotten what really good fresh seafood was like before Fresh Pond re-opened. Fantastic fried shrimp, haddock, scallops and calamari, with just enough breading--nothing that gets in the way of the seafood. Really excellent quality seafood across the board. If you want fries to be top quality, best to eat them in the shop--after getting fries home in the takeout dinner boxes they were a little soft, but the seafood is so good it doesn't matter. Have also picked up excellent live lobsters!

Stopped in for take-out and was quite impressed. I got fried haddock while my wife got whole belly clams and we both enjoyed our meals. My wife is particularly impressed. The breading is just right, not too thick nor too crunchy. The fries were done perfectly right. We ate our take-out in the restaurant at one of their four booths. The market looked impressive and we will be back for fresh fish soon. The store was kept quite chilly, no doubt to help keep all the fresh fish cool.

Stopped in to chcek out the new seafood joint in Arlington. They had a big selection of lobsters and a typical selection of seafood to select from that looked as fresh as it can get. They had some oysters too, I asked the girl behind the counter where they were from and she wasn't too sure, knowing where your oysters are from make a huge difference in the flavor.

Our first time here, and we were very happy w/ the haddock, scallops, & onion rings!  A bit spendy, but you get what you pay for w/ fresh seafood. The shop looks great, clean & welcoming. We will be back for more!

Went when it first opened for take-out back in the beginning of the summer (sorry for the late review). Other than the one hour wait for eat -in the food was excellent. Large portions at market prices. Great to see a local Seafood place back in business.

They are doing great business. But, regarding the take-out food, I wonder how much repeat business they will. have. The lobster roll meat had a texture like it had been frozen.  The clam BELLY roll had small bellies and strips. Premium prices for average at best quality.

I've now bought fresh sword, salmon, crab cakes, lobsters and shrimp at Fresh Pond Seafood in Arlington, and all were top quality and absolutely delicious.  The fried scallops and fried clams were the best I've had in years anywhere, including the North Shore.  The chowder is very good, reminded me of Legal's. They hit the mark with their tartar sauce, too.  Clean, bright, polite, friendly.  I'm happy to pay the price for the best.  They shouldn't change a thing. (Ok, maybe they could start serving fried oysters!)

Fresh Pond Seafood is BACK!!!! The same Family who owned the original Fresh Pond Seafood in Cambridge (Fresh Pond Parkway) has re-opened in a beautiful new retail space on Summer Street in Arlington. Only about 12 minutes from the original, this new store not only features the Freshest Seafood that the old customers were used to, BUT they will also be offering take out in the very near future!! If you were an original customer like I am, I encourage you to go see the new store it looks AMAZING!! Congrats to Marty Hagerty and Family on the re-opening!!!
