Support the single shrimp!!
I liked most everything about this place. I called to order fish n chips and fried scallops. They had just sold the last of their scallops. Fresh? Check!
The batter was great - light and crispy, the fish was not too dry, the fries were yummy and they gave me enough tarter sauce without me asking for more!! I appreciate that they understand the importance of the condiment to food ratio.
Completely agree with Adam- call and then pick it up. It is so small inside that you are always in someones way or blocking the door.
The people are great too. The lady at the register was very friendly.
The only thing I didn't like was they only had cans of soda. I hate cans.
Support local businesses by supporting single shrimp!! -

So, since this place is closed Sunday - Tuesday, they were out of the clam chowder and lobster rolls when I called in my order one Saturday evening. The fella taking my order was friendly enough, and he told me that my order would be ready in 15 min.
He was a bit off by the time, but the wait didn't seem long. As I waited, I observed that there were perhaps 3 stools in this take-out spot. They have their menu listed on a chalkboard, and there was a seafood theme to their decoration and the clock. I also got to watch my Fresh Catch Platter $21.95 being fried and piled in the styrofoam container one item type at a time.
By the time I got my bounty home, I noticed that the fried calamari side $7.95 had begun soaking through the paper bag. It was all rings and kind of soft. As a tenacle girl, it was okay, but not to my taste.
The best part of the platter was the crunchy onion rings (4). The fries were fine and crispy too, where they weren't made soft by the seafood lying on top of them. The 3 non-jumbo shrimp were pretty good, the fish fingers (not fillets) were fine. But the scallops and clams were soft, and the crunchiness of the clams were (I suspect) from the sand.
A cold little cup of cole slaw, 2 tartar sauce (nice!), and cocktail sauce were included. I found the slaw to be the creamy sort, okay but not as sweet as KFC's.
Next time I'm trying the broiled items...

A week or so after my first visit, I called in a another order... again they were out of the lobster roll. Turns out they make them fresh each day in limited batches, which sounds good, but I was really bummed, since I was looking forward to trying it.
They were also out of the single fried shrimp. I was hoping to find out how the single fried shrimp compared to the three shrimp that came in the Fresh Catch Platter, but it was a no-go.
I had also noted that on their printable online menu that the soups came with a side. Odd, but cool, I thought. But the lady taking my order said they don't. Another disappointment. I'm getting tired of being disappointed.
Finally, my order ended up being the broiled seafood platter $15.95, 2 clam chowders $5.99 ea, and a side of sauteed vegetables $2.95 (by vegetables, they meant zucchini... if they meant zucchini, why didn't they just say zucchini?). 15-20 minutes? Okay.
"You deserve lobster perfection." That's what my radio told me as I made my way home with the food. Too bad I didn't receive it.
The chowder was okay, but not great. It was the cream sort, but wasn't very chunky. And my mom noted some sand in her serving (she finished off the bowl, so perhaps the sand settled). The oyster crackers added some unnecessary saltiness to the chowder.
The zucchini was okay too. I'm not used to the seasoning they used, but at least it wasn't overcooked.
The broiled seafood platter was a bit dinky... not just in portion, but also in the size of the individual types of seafood. The bay scallops were moist enough, and the fillet not overcooked, but the shrimp looked and tasted a bit like that Chinese dried shrimp ha mai. The fries were a bit chewy (fries can be chewy?) (was it because they didn't make holes in the styrofoam like they did my last visit?), but as the conveyor of ketchup, it may have been the best part of tonight's meal. And, I realized a bit later, they forgot my cole slaw.

In summary, this is by no means a destination spot. And with all the disappointments, it wouldn't be my first choice for take-out. But for a local take-out option when you're hankering for seafood, it is okay. -

Now, solely based on the seafood (single shrimp, fried clams) this place is a 5-star especially for its price. However--they have no business making them soggy arse fries. I do believe I shall return, with a lovely craving for some single shrimp mmmmm.
It says a lot when I ignore my shrimp allergy to come here and die just to have a taste of the single shrimp. The haddock is OKAY. But I don't really suggest getting it... -

You can order a single shrimp here. Seriously. Chris Rock's character in I'm Gonna Get You Sucka would LOVE this place.
I love this place too, because it's a to-go fish joint that *doesn't* fry everything! Sure, you can get your fried seafood platters, which my friend enjoyed but this place also does thoroughly decent broiled seafood too. The broiled scallops I had were especially yummy. And the coleslaw? Fantastic. The place can get busy, so it's probably better to phone your order in beforehand rather than exercise the "order and wait" strategy, as the interior wait space in the place is extra-tiny.
Still one day i'm going to come in every 30 minutes or so and order a single shrimp. I'll have pockets full of tartar. If anyone gives me the stink-eye, i'll shout out something about how it's a marathon, not a sprint. -

We love this place, would go regularly if we could find the time, the Haddock is delicious, the portions are excellent and the service always includes a smile and often a wry sense of humor! I only give it four stars because I would really love to have room to sit down with the kids there!!
