It's practically right underneath my hotel and I loved it. Usually in hotel areas you can't find stuff like this - and as a frequent traveler I find myself getting room snacks at Walgreens and Starbucks and such. Unlike those places, this place has everything your tongue and tummy could want - in a tiny cramped small package. REAL FOOD. Veggies. Fruit. Juice. MILK. Fancy cheese. Fancy crackers. Chocolate covered almonds. Locally made granola. I passed by it but i am pretty sure they have a deli too.
Pro-tip: use your sink - with the drain open - as a cooler. Put your perishables like milk in there and fill it up with ice from the ice machine in the hall. Ohhhh don't fuss. You can use the shower faucet for things. -

I popped by Fresh & Wild to pick up my fave. current specialty snack. Dearly beloved, Snapea Crips ($2.99). They're AMAZING, healthy, and two bags of them could probably be eaten in one sitting. Check it: http://snacksalad.com/....
F&W has a really attractive selection of veggies, fruit, grains, cheeses, dairy, canned goods and specialty snacks. I noticed the theme was oriented at being health conscience, which I think we can all appreciate.
They have a tidy outdoor display of fruits and what-not that reminds me of being at a farmers market. There's something about displays like that in general that makes grocery shopping all the more fun, and adds a rustic feel to good ol' veggie-picking. So, automatic points for that.
The veggies and fruits look ripe, fresh, clean and crisp. Y'know, I think it's the worst when you have to dig through fresh produce that looks bruised, dirty and wilted... Yum!
Inside, It's very cute, compact and clean. I think the wooden shelves are a nice touch, it adds to the farmers market type-feel they've got goin' on.
There was a section of chips that was all, sweet potatoe, baked-not-fried, "good for you and tastes good too". Sometimes, the healthy stuff doesn't taste all that great, but this section has you're taste buds covered in terms of snacking.
Ouuu, they also have a cute little orange juice squeezing machine (?) up at the front counter. 99% certain they sell liters or glasses of OJ. Unfortunately, I didn't get a glass myself. But the aroma of freshly squeezed oranges is heavenly. You can almost taste the sweet, citrus flavor... with your nose.
The prices may be a bit higher then the local Loblaws just down the road, but the selection is beyond satisfying.
Instead of "The End", I'll go with "Fancy Smancy" on this one. -

Bloor West Village's version of Fresh and Wild isn't nearly as extravagant as the one at King and Spadina. It actually has more of a small grocery store feel (except one with way more variety).
I usually visit F&W only when I need, like, a can of tomatoes and I'm too lazy to walk to No Frills (or if I just can't handle the screeching banana yellow building that is No Frills on that particular day) or if I want something fancy (rainbow pasta shaped like party hats?! Whhhhhhaaaaaat!) to kick up a meal.
One thing I will stop in for is a small black current juice which is an evil dark liquid because it is so expensive and delicious....it...it might just be the blood of Satan (who knew it would be so darn tasty!)
Truth be told, I was going to give F&W three stars but the juice pushed it up to four. The devil made me do it.
