Terrific breakfast that is an amazing alternative to its busy competition across the road!!! Try the Brent Benny for breakfast... you will not be let down :)

I really liked this place. Great food, great service, decent beer (it was a little warm ...all three times I had some). The only complaint I would have was the other clientele, but they obviously can't help that the giant group of women at the table next to us sounded like a gaggle of geese fighting over a piece of bread.
Anyways, we ordered the foccacia appetizer, and it was basically a personal-sized (and delicious) pizza. We also got two pasta dishes to share, and both were very good.Listed in: 300

I went back this week and had another great meal.
The server was very friendly and offered us some local brews and was helpful with the menu. Although I was set already on having the gnocchi again. It was probably better than the first time. The chicken and mushrooms really added to the dish.
Another great meal and a nice table by the window.Listed in: Ottawa Date Ideas, Elgin Street's Finest, 24 Summer Hours in Ottawa

Review from Sebb J.

Went there for a friend's birthday recently.
I ordered the $40 table d'hote. The warm beef salad was delicious, perfect amount of mushrooms and beef topped on spinach. The duck breast was good although quite a bit fattening and saucy. Excellent mash.
I have to say that my only qualm about this place was the service. Most of the other guests at the table were fairly disappointed as he forgot certain items they ordered, mistakenly gave someone a dessert and coffee and had to repeatedly ask for cutlery or sugar etc. I also waited a good 20 minutes before my first drink arrived.
I would go back but expect a different server this time around.

The price here was what I would expect from a restaurant with such great reviews. The atmosphere was classy, close and intimate, yet I was quite put off when I realized that all of the table were covered with paper table cloths, very similar to those used at Boston Pizza for example.
More importantly, the food here was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, presented well and tasted fantastic!
Overall I would say that this restaurant has excellent service and food, but should really lose the paper table cloths. -

I'll get directly to my point- this was the best- I repeat, THE BEST Italian meal I have ever had! I live in Boston, have spent many nights in the best restaurants in the North End, but have never had food like I did at Fresco.
My Partner and I met my daughter and her boyfriend for dinner on the evening of Canada Day. They had suggested we meet here due to the crowds at the Byward Market and Parliment Hill due to the festivities. They had dined at Fresco earlier in the week and had enjoyed it.
We started with a cesaer salad, which was delicious. Just enough dressing and shaved parmesean to coat the lettuce. My partner had the Carbonara and I had the Boushino with chicken. I am also Gluten Intolerant and they had gluten free pasta as an option. A big plus! Everything was melt in your mouth perfection. Wonderful flavors throughout the entire meal. Our waiter was very patient with our questions, and knowledgeable when suggesting a bottle of wine to go with our meals.
The ambiance was cozy, with open window / street view dinning available.
Do make the time to have dinner here! The prices are reasonable and it is away from the tourist crowds at the Byward Market. (All the best places are usually away from the tourists.)
Can't wait to go back! -

This place is good, not great. The staff is amazing, but the food was just ok. The veal piccata was tough, but the beet sides were delicious. My starter was a zuchini fritter with chipotle sauce - very good. Heavy hand on vinegar and sauces.
