Fremont Brewing is my favorite brewery in Seattle... maybe in the state.

I've never once had a bad beer here, and I've been here at least a dozen times with mixed groups: big group of friends, day drinking on a girls' afternoon, date night, with out-of-town guests, just to swing by and pick up a growler for a party (but what's that you say? Merlot-aged imperial IPA? Well of course I can stay for a pint...). Their summer ale is terrific this year, and my house can't get enough of that perfect Wandering Wheat. I've got two bourbon Abombinables aging in my beer cellar - which will be used for some winter celebration this upcoming year.

Growler fills are cheap, service is always good, and it's friendly for everybody - families, people with dogs, people who want to sit in a big open garage and drink delicious Northwest brews and order Kylie's from down the street.

Part of a perfect Seattle day for me is Gas Works, then a trip to Fremont Brewing with my big, old dog (he could vouch for the tasty pretzels and the cold cement floors that he can sprawl on after a long walk) with friends. I love this brewery.

I'd had plenty of Fremont beers before, so I knew that they could be counted on for a pretty good brew. After visiting the brewery itself, I found that Fremont Brewing is also an awesome place to hang out and drink a few beers on premises.

The space is essentially a really big garage converted into a makeshift beer garden, complete with communal seating. The huge garage doors make it equally pleasant in (traditional) rain or (rare) shine. Take a seat at the big long table and grab a bowl of pretzels to enjoy with your beer - I can't imagine a better way to spend a lazy afternoon.

I went to Fremont Brewing to redeem a Google Offer for 1 pint and a Growler.

I arrived on a Saturday at around noon.  The tap room was open, but we were the only guests present.  The host was...strictly business.  Funny how when you bring a Google Offer, the proprietors aren't always friendly or happy to see us, in my experience.

This was my first time to the brewery, so I didn't know anything about it and thought there might be some guidance or friendly assistance, but, not so much.

I will confess I am not a huge beer connoisseur, but to be treated worse because I am not a beer snob, the Fremont Brewery motto "Beer is Important" didn't quite ring true for me.

I enjoyed my Wheat brew that I choose for pint.

I had another Google Offer for the same items, only this time the experience was even more underwhelming.  The tap room was closed (it was a weekday) and I was curtly informed that I wouldn't be getting my pint.  I made the mistake of asking if there were any beers that were lighter than the UPA (Universal Pale Ale) that I had bought for my growler on my previous visit and was informed, "no, they don't get any lighter".

All in all, it was not the best experience.  Since I live 90 minutes away, the timeframe for my visits were not ideal, but I think I would have preferred to have a tough burly bar maid to accompany my surly brew house experience.  Instead I had unfriendly dudes who seemed insulted that I had taken advantage of an deal that they offered.

I probably won't return.  I'll just have to trust that this is a cool place, so long as you come at the right time and exhibit the same beer snobbish-ness that they staff demonstrate.

If you like breweries that are on the industrial side then this is your place. They have little booths and a long row of benches (wooden boards on kegs) for you to chill with friends after a long day of hard(ly) work in the warehouse/garage area. My kind of place.

First and foremost for the beers--these guys turn out a nice lineup of IPAs and stouts, with other styles showing up regularly as well. You can find their kegs and bombers all over town these days, and you can find growlers of their beer filled and chilled and ready to go here at the brewery.

But when you come visit the place, you get a good experience to go with the good beer. It's on the east side of the aurora bridge, away from most of the places where people go out for a beer in Fremont. It's kind of its own little world, but that doesn't stop it from getting a nice steady crowd.

You walk in and you know right away you're in a working brewery. There's a wall of bright tanks about 15 feet past the little foyer, with banquette seating cordoning off the working area from the drinking area. Past this is the register, where they fill tasters, schooners, and pints, and will you ring you up for growlers and bottle sales. They had Bourbon Barrel Abominable, capped and waxed, for sale in bombers yesterday. Nice!

Turn from the register and you get more banquette seating and a long beer hall table made of kegs and old lumber. There's obviously a lot of rough and ready carpentry happening here; they clearly built the stairs and much of the upstairs offices themselves. It gives it a nice neighborhood feel, along with the sense that you'll not be bilked on beers so they can pay off the contractor loan.

There's a roll-up garage door at the end of the beer hall table, and you know this place is fun in nice weather. Even on a somewhat dreary Sunday afternoon, there were all kinds of people here enjoying themselves. As the afternoon wore on, musicians showed up, along with dogs and kids. All good signs--being dog-friendly and kid-friendly makes it easy for people to make it in here, and live music is a nice touch.

What they don't really have here is food, aside from boxed pretzel sticks and maybe a couple other little bar snacks. They do have great service, though, and everything else about the place is a slightly offbeat and very welcoming addition to the Seattle beer scene.

This is a great spot to meet up with some friends for a few drinks and lots of socializing as there is plenty of seating and a lot of open space, especially compared to just about any bar you might walk in to. You can also buy a growler to take home if you just can't get enough of whatever your favorite beer is.

Two things that really set this place apart are that they are pet friendly so you will almost always see a dog or two hanging out especially during the warmer weather and you can also bring in your own food to chow down on while enjoying the beer and wine offerings.

Even before I first set foot inside, I knew I was going to love this place.  Sure, Fremont brews the big, hoppy ales I tend to enjoy, but  you could be serving any ol' swill in the "urban beer garden" and it would still be a fantastic place.  The fact that the beers are also top notch really secures my five stars.

Happy hour on Friday is like walking into a party in someone's garage, with great music playing on crappy old speakers underneath the din of animated beer drinking, which is puncuated by the occasional barking of dogs or kids playing.

In addition to the patrons camped out at the big communal table or in one of the funky little booths, there was a constant stream of people picking up fresh growlers for the weekend or just popping in for a pint or two to wrap up the work week.  In particular, it appears to be a popular pit stop for cyclists due to its proximity to the bike corridors of Stone Way and the Burke-Gilman trail.

If you are of the beer drinking, dog loving, family friendly mindset like myself, Fremont Brewing may very well be your nirvana.  It's a damn good thing for me that it's just out of the way enough for me to be a treat.  Otherwise you might never see me again.

Essentially an industrial brewery that had some spare space after moving in and put out a couple couches and some taps.

The amenities are not impressive, but the local community is.  Everyone is friendly and well lubricated due to the influence of the locally produced brew.

Those brews are pretty decent.  Not completely awesome, as I can name several that I enjoy more in town, but it has its own charm and I'm sure that many people love it longtime.

Though it took a few chilly minutes to find on a nondescript side street near The Dock, Fremont brewing was well worth the walk from the main center of the neighborhood. We walked in just a hair before 8 o'clock on a Friday, just before they gave the last-call announcement. This just meant that there were plenty of spots available on The Longest Booth Seat Ever, and that we were at the FRONT of the last call line.

The space is cool, with its six or so giant industrial fermenting tanks and the bright green walls. The seating was obviously acquired from some fantastic restaurant that went out of business, which added to the feeling that you were just hanging out in some guys' workshop.

Adults will enjoy the selection of beers--there were around a dozen to choose from, kids will appreciate the bin o' toys, and everyone can nosh on the pretzels they serve.

A great place to bring out-of-town guests, or just a spot to start your weekend night out!

Delicious beers, I'm a huge fan of their IPAs! The seating area is fun and funky - it gets a little tight if you have a larger party, but they also have picnic tables further back.  They have a wonderful, convivial atmosphere, with families and people with dogs just hanging out and shooting the breeze. Prices were good for pints and growlers.  They don't serve food but you are welcome to bring in your own.

I stopped by Fremont Brewing on Monday before I caught my flight back home only to find out the tasting was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.  However, the person working there was very nice and let me into the tasting area to try their beers anyways.

As someone with a limited beer palette, I enjoyed my beer tasting and was quite surprised at how much I liked their IPA since the ones I had in the past I didn't like too much.  What is also is cool is how affordable the beers are as well.

Fremont's standard beers are good, but have not distinguished themselves (though some seasonals are terrific). Choosing clear growlers for hoppy beers is a mistake, especially since they are prefilled and sitting around for a while - a recipe for skunking. Also, they stopped vending sixth barrel kegs (unless you have a commercial account).

The Urban Beer Garden is a good place to hang out in the summer, if you like bring-your-own-food brewery taprooms (which I do). Unfortunately, the seating is way uncomfortable, kegs do not make a good base for furniture.

I love the Fremont Brewery and so do all my coworkers.  We get all our growler's filled here for parties and it's a great way to get good beer for a good price for a crowd.

Love taking my dog here as well.  They don't serve food, so go as a pre-funk for the evening, an afterwork beer or 2, or bring your own food in.

The staff is really great as well - and they are constantly switching up their brews.  Love this place.

This is a five star review for Kristin's jalapeno cheese dip....

No but seriously, Fremont brewery should actually serve Kristin's Jalapeno Cheese Dip in order to ensure that everyone visiting gets twice as much beer as they planned....

Anyways, like Stuart said... ummm stuff... and things... and growlers... and beer... and stuff.

There's tons of places to sit and relax, plenty of room for 15 adults to color in Disney books and play with stickers... there are toys for kids...

I really enjoy beer and it's inexpensive.  Five stars.  It's a freakin' brewery.

There are certain unspoken dangers about living in Fremont.  There is an angry troll that lives under the bridge, there are strange towers of rocks that appear near the sidewalks on weekend nights and there is a neighborhood brewery that will spoil you with fresh, quality beer whenever your heart desires.

When's a good time to visit the brewery?

-If you want a fresh growler fill, you can get those every day during business hours.
-If you want a casual happy hour with your friends, then Thursday and Friday afternoons are a great bet.
-If you want to meet up with the other members of your stroller brigade, Saturday afternoon seems to be a popular choice. (My least favorite time to visit due to the chaos)
-If you want the lazy Sunday vibe but want to leave your house, then Sunday afternoon is great (Used to be $1 off pints Sunday, but that is no longer with us.)

What should you know about the brewery?

-It's Bring Your Own Food but there are always free pretzels.
-Please don't ask for samples if there's a long line (personal pet peeve)
-Please bus your empty glasses. (brewery pet peeve, especially with the number of dogs and children running around)

    How about the beers?

-My year round favorite is the Universale Pale Ale
-In winter, it's Abominable or it's evil bourbon barrel aged cousin the B-Bomb

I don't drink beer. It's not because I don't like it. It tends to fill me up, is carbohydrate laden, and just kinda makes me a little sloppy to be honest.

But, nursing a hangover from my head-banger's ball the night before, and heading here on a Saturday to meet up with some Yelpers, I figured in sort of a hair-of-the-dog-esque style, I should definitely get a beer.

After having several sips from beer sampler glasses that no one could really tell what was what any more, I ended up with a cold tall pint of delicious Harvest Ale.

I think this beer has some sort of medicinal quality... because I magically started to spring back to life a little into my second glass (reasonably priced might i add). I loved the neighborhood vibe of this place. It was so welcoming, and simple, utilitarian yet cozy. Add in awesome company, and it was a fantastic day all around.

If you are looking for something else, you will be disappointed. All they have is beer. But really, isn't that all you need? You can bring your own food(tons of great restaurants are within stumbling distance too). Also, you can bring your dog!

I wish I would have taken the time to really try and find this place when I lived in Fremont. It's awesome! I went twice in one weekend.

Some people say that I live the fresh, bold flavor lifestyle. This may be true and that is why I drink beer from Fremont Brewing. Their Interurban IPA is one of my absolute favorite IPAs out there. I came to the brewery and decided to have the Interurban IPA on cask with champaign grapes. Talk about bold flavor! Going to buy a growler of some of their beer to take to parties and spread the love.

While I was only here briefly (because we were headed to the Wasabi Bistro to devour some sushi), I was so charmed by the place I had to write a quick review.

First of all, I love breweries, and fully plan on brewing my own beer (albeit in much smaller quantities) once I get my hands on a bit of start-up capital.  So, the opportunity to not only go to a brewery, but also pull up a chair next to the stills and have a pint, is one I'll certainly take advantage of again.

The Fremont Brewery is the epitome of a community watering hole.  During the hour we were there lots of people filtered (pun intended) in and out; many were there just to pick up a growler or two, although more than a few were waylaid by the tempting on-tap selections.  And just in case you ever thought, "boy, I really want a beer, but I want to pet a dog while doing it; oh well, guess I'll just go brown-bag it at the park..." have no fear, as dogs are more than welcome (which is a little odd because I know sanitation and brewing go hand-in-hand, but the physical brewing area was set a bit aside from the tables/benches, so I wasn't worried).  Wow, ok, that was a long sentence, so here's a short one.  Go to the Fremont Brewery.

Oh, yeah, they don't serve food, but you can bring in your own, so...sweet.

I can't say Fremont Brewing lived up to its hype for me, which was too bad. Some friends and I all spurred for their Tippr coupon -- $10 for your choice of one of the three pints offered and any growler to take home with you -- not a half shabby deal!

However, I'm not a fan of anything too hopsy, and the one beer I had planned on ordering was apparently "not available yet" when we went in. Um, why would you list it on your recently released coupon, then? Instead of my intended Harvest Ale, I tried the Universal Pale Ale, which was only okay, and definitely not what I was in the mood for.

I did like the set-up of the urban beer garden, and while they were all taken by other groups, I would have greatly enjoyed playing a game of Settlers and eating pretzels.

It's about time I updated this review since their opening back in June of 2009. I recently stopped in again a week ago and was super impressed with the urban beer garden! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Wandering Wheat, awesome summer/wheat beer!

The urban beer garden has a lot of room for everyone and their friends and the free pretzels are great for enjoying with your beers. It's a bummer that you can't get all the tapped beers to-go in a growler, but I understand. I can't wait to spend more time in the beer garden especially since we'll be moving just a few blocks away!

On the last stop of my Seattle brewery tour we were lucky enough to experience Fremont Brewing. The atmosphere is very chill and it's the kind of place I wouldn't mind spending the entire day there drinking some tasty beers.

It seemed to be the neighborhood bar that cool dads can bring their a.d.d. children. " Jeffery go play with those puzzles over there while I am trying to drink."

I would tell you about the beer I had but I had it like over a month ago so I don't remember really. Everything we had was awesome so you can't go wrong.

I am officially in love with Beer (light still) because of Fremont Brewing! You can bring your own food. Since they don't serve food, you can bring your dogs with you.

First time here, I met up with my Yelp friends for coloring UYE the day before Easter. There were (must be) eight or ten of us. We brought crayon, color books, Easter candies, food, etc (I only brought my dogs). We had a good time hanging out, coloring, and drinking beers. I was very clumsy that I totally forgot to close my tab and I went home. I realized that when I was in my PJ. I called them up around 8PM and let them know I would be back and close it. Since I flew out the next day for a personal trip, getting my card back is super important. The staff was polite and friendly!

Second time here, I gave a friend of mine a mini tour of Greenlake and Fremont. And, I decided to take her to Paseo for a Cuban Roast (but, she insisted to pay), famous Fremont Troll, and Fremont Brewing. We had great time hanging out and catching up. She liked the beer Fremont Brewing has; therefore, she bought a growler of house IPA for the friends she stays with. When I walked out, the staff knew my clumsy record and reminded me closing my tab. I really appreciated! (I was about to walk out again and he caught me).

This is not a fancy place! A warehouse / garage looking building one block up from water (Lake Union). There are a big long table (picnic looking table) by the garage door and a few small tables on the side and in the back. Plus, there's a big space in the back behind the seating area (probably for bigger groups or beer garden).

I am a light beer gal (I call myself entry-level). The staff recommended me Summer Solstice and Wandering Wheat. They both are very refreshing. However, Wandering Wheat is a little sweeter than Summer Solstice. But, I love them both. I say, the price is CHEAP! $4 per beer (a big beer glass).

I wish this place was around the corner from where I live! Or maybe I don't, because I would probably never come home..

The urban beer garden is such a fantastic idea for these guys -- and an awesome frakking asset to the community. You got the brewing operations in the back. Then up front there is one large communal picnic table and smaller round ones lining this place that is packed full of people, their kids, and their dogs (all of which play very nicely together). It is an awesome place to have a pot-luck, or perhaps a random coloring event put together by the lovely Chris T (thanks again, fun times had by all!) Some neighbors at the big communal table brought in some Kylie's pizza and I couldn't think of a more perfect way to enjoy an afternoon -- amazing pizza and beer at a local hot-spot? Heck yes!

Then the beers! Oh my, the beers. They had 6 on tap the afternoon I was there and I managed to have 4 of them. The Dark Star stout was the clear winner in my book -- dark and delicious and not overly  "coffee tasting" like you tend to get with a lot of stouts in this area. Their Summer Solstice was lovely and would have been perfect with a slice of orange. Solid IPA, and their Pale Ale was the only one that left me wanting something more out of my drink. So props to these guys for making some great beer, and extra props to the SINGLE employee manning the taps. That line never ended and he never complained or seemed put out with closing tabs, giving recommendations or filling growlers.

Can't wait to go back! And next time i'll bring my growler with me too.

Walking into Fremont Brewing feels like walking into the garage of a friendly neighbor who happens to be so passionate about beer that she set up her own neighborhood brewery. And according to their website, that's exactly what happened!

Fremont Brewing was the site of my first ever UYE, which turned out great! After seeing 15 "I'm in" and 30+ "Sounds cool" responses on my drinking & coloring event, I got worried about space so I stopped by Fremont Brewing early one afternoon just to check out the space: at noon on a Tuesday, the urban beer garden part wasn't open yet but there were people inside brewing away. While they don't take reservations for space or anything, the employee was more than happy to chat about the best times to get there/when it would start filling up and getting busy.

There's not much to look at: It's just one big, garage-sized room with couches and tiny round tables lining the perimeter and a single, very long picnic table down the center. But when it starts filling up with friends and kids and dogs, the brewery really comes alive! There were about 10 of us total on a Saturday afternoon and we had no trouble finding space at the long communal table as more of us showed up over the course of two hours. The beers were great (I especially liked the Summer Solstice) and while they didn't convert me into a beer fanatic, I like this space enough to keep coming back over and over again!

Tip: if you're remotely hungry, order a deep dish pizza from Kylie's and bring it here lest you develop a raging case of pizza envy.

I'm now into growler refills and you just can't beat "The Sisters" IPA.  Nice to have this place so close and now I don't even have to consider purchasing beer in the grocery store.  As I've read in other reviews Fremont Brewing encompasses the casual additude and ambience of non-pretentious Fremont / Seattle living.

This is an amazing brewery! My husband and I love to come here (frequently)with our friends for pints, cask tastings, and to have them fill our keg with fresh, scrumptious homemade beer! The folks that work there are extremely nice, and the tasting room is a fun, local atmosphere that embodies the laid-back Fremont vibe. Also, they are about expand their brewing area, which can only mean more of the best!

I checked out the Urban Beer Garden and had a great time.  They have some really nice beers on tap, and if you are a beer lover it is fun to see what they having going in the brewery.  I would recommend checking it out for sure, and grabbing a growler on your way home.

If you are expecting a brew pub or bar, you may need to change your reference point.  This is more of an open house at a brewery.  They do set up some tables so you can hang for a while.

Wow do I love this place.  There is something about throwing open the garage door to the warehouse to the public, tapping some kegs, having  a few pints and filling up growlers to go that is just plain awesome.

I've been here a few times on the weekdays, but this is the first time I have been on the weekend.  Granted it was gorgeous outside, but it was SUPER packed.  I had to do some stalking in order to grab a table for my friend and I.  And the line was a bit out of control, but that is probably because the beer is so darn good.

I'm a big fan of IPAs, and so the Interurban is always a good choice.  I tried the Sister Imperial IPA today and it was delicious.  It even just smelled good when I sipped it.  My friend had the Autumn Harvest ale, and it was solid -- I took a growler of it home.  I've also tried their summer solstice and a winter seasonal and have also been pleased.

Definitely recommend it for a low key drink after work.  Child and dog friendly -- I think I've even witnessed at least 2 two year old birthday parties there...

I have recently started drinking some of the Fremont Brewing company beer and love it.

Universale Pale Ale - very good beer
Interurban IPA - a great IPA not my top 10 but good
Summer Solstice - this beer is 5 star in my opinion. I think I bought about 10 of these in a row just because it was so damn good!

My GF Christine created her first yelp event here which featured drinking and coloring. Fantastic or what? It brought out my inner child and adult at the same time and for that I give it 5 STARS! Speaking of kids, they are welcome too! For all the Pedos you can hit on people from all age groups. jk That's terrible!

Seriously though, I've never had a better laid back experience. The illest and most chillest brewery you can drink and commingle. They have tasty beers but the best part is you can loiter! The place is one big garage with picnic tables and couches that allow the spring breeze to rush through your hair!

I wandered in here on a Thursday, and though on my Yelp app. they were open at 2 pm, they are not actually open for tasting until 4 pm.  But I returned and I'm glad I did.  For $6 you get a taste sampler of whatever is flowing on tap that day, and in this case I sampled 6 different beers.  I liked 5 out of 6 of them, but I like ales which is good because this brewery specializes in them.

Of all of them the Summer Solstice was my favorite, for its overall drinkability: a single hope, single malt oh-so-delicious refreshing ale with a unique character.

The Wandering Wheat came as a bit of surprise because it was not at all the German style so popular with microbrews these days, but rather an American style wheat ale....ale being the key word here; think hoppy wheat beer and you have a start.

Next up were 3 more ales, 2 of them IPA's:
    - The Universale Pale Ale was decent, but nothing that really set it apart.
    - The Interuban IPA was very hoppy, with a nice citrusy finish.
    - The Brother IPA was also very hoppy and quite spirited! (As you might expect based on the alcohol content).

I finished with the Dark Star Oatmeal Stout.  It was a mild stout, with a tangy ale-like finish.  Although it was interesting and carried a zing, I would have preferred a more distinct stout (chocolate, coffee or oatmeal) flavor.

By the way when they say "Urban Beer Garden" picture inside the warehouse with the garage door rolled up and alongside the brewing tanks, not an outdoor garden.  I liked the details of the tasting area....the wood planks atop of beer kegs providing the bench seating and the alternate retro red booth seating, and of course the self-serve pretzels.  Best of all is the community feel you get when you first walk in.  All manner of folk (bicyclists, neighbors, the after-work crowd, hipsters, the retired, students and tourists alike) and all age groups, including folks with toddlers and dogs, come here to drink beer.  It is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of place, thankfully still free of retail glitz.
