A record store is a record store is a record store....
Unless it's a legacy and a gem like Fred's. Fred's is the kind of place that makes you want to order records, tapes, CDs, and DVDs even when the material is available to purchase or download online.
It's the kind of place that is a joy to visit and spend time in. Getting lost in the stacks, perusing the Staff Picks, listening to their suggested tracks. They've got everything: Rock, Jazz, Classical, World Beat, Folk, Top40, Traditional; a great selection of artists, local and global.

Wide variety of music and more. This last time, I picked up a CD of traditional Newfoundland songs, as well as an amazing documentary audio CD on Newfoundland history. Their locally top-selling display has a wonderful mix of CDs... when I was there this summer, it included Amelia Curran, Sean McCann, and many more.
Part of a dying breed of independently owned, local record (CD) stores. Don't let places like this fade away. :)
