Review from Rita F.

Just went to Fratelli Restaurant on Richmond Road for dinner with my parents. We were seated in a really comfortable booth setting and served the most delicious, simple and tasty pasta. The service was warm and professional.
We will be back with appetites! -
Review from Rafael R.
Dining solo is often a curse and a blessing. A blessing because you can almost always be accommodated, but a curse because this often means, at peak hours, that you will be seated at the bar. On my visit to Fratelli, I would say this dining experience was a bit of a curse.
I wandered into Fratelli on Bank Street as the interior appeared inviting and the menu offered a nice selection of dishes. I was seated at the small bar counter.
My starter, the abundant Carpaccio dish, included an unusual side of Dijon mayo, which worked quite well with the raw beef. Thick slices of shaved parmigiano were a bonus, as usually, this dish is offered with meager parmigiano offerings.
My entree, the Chicken gorgonzola dish, included grilled chicken and spinach, roasted pecans and a generous serving gorgonzola sauce.
Here's where Fratelli's gets a little ugly. The restaurant website touts that it offers "friendly service in an unpretentious atmosphere". Not on this night. As a disclaimer, my server, who was tending the bar, was very kind and helpful, however, her coworkers, who mingled at the bar were the offenders. One server seemed to complain about every table, another, in a ugly manner, mimicked comments by customers and the hostess was beside herself when 8 people came in for a previous reservation for 6.
While I understand the frustrations that restaurant servers can be up against - I've been there, they were incredibly unprofessional in the way they handled themselves. If they had to complain, they should have done so in the privacy of a break room or kitchen, not in front of a paying customer. -

I LOVE Italian food. I could eat it every day and never get bored and die happy. I am always on the lookout for great Italian restaurants and was not disappointed when I discovered the gem that is Fratelli. It is beautiful inside and the staff is delightful and jokey. The food, though, is the heart of the restaurant. Fratelli serves all the Italian classics - antipasta, soups, pastas of every shape and size and flavour of sauce, chicken, veal and seafood entrees, and of course, pizzas! And, as a little bit of a wine nerd, I couldn't believe the wine list - amarone! chianti! pinot grigio! You will definitely deserve some action after taking your date here, but you won't get any because you will both already be satisfied!
