I really love Fraser Park Restaurant.
Everything is delicious, especially the Club Sandwich and Schnitzel Burger. Oh, and every soup I've ever tried is a total winner, and ditto with the potato pancakes. Their house-cured meats (bacon, sausage, ham) are super yummy and I love them. Love them.
Portions are superlatively fair.
You can't beat the price.
The family who owns and runs it is friendly and accomodating.
We can bring our baby here and feel okay about it.
I am constantly looking forward to our next visit. Sometimes, I think I dream about it. -

Its a typical truck stop style cafe... Huge portions super tasty very & greasy spoon... cafeteria format of ordering as well as seating with long tables. I was invited here for lunch and ordered the clubhouse which was full of small bacon bits, processed meats and a few cups of mayo... The soup was huge and tasty beef barley with what seemed to be canned or fake bits of beef, sort of strange.. others ordered the special which was beef stroganoff and that same beef that was in the soup...
The place was packed way out at the end of Byrne road in the middle of warehouses and factories... So packed there wasnt a spot of all three of us to eat... but by the time our food came there was good turn over in the seats, but it was packed, Service friendly and run off their feet.. all in all the food prices where cheap. One hit wonder for me. -

I was a little disappointed...maybe because I fell for the hype. It was "meh". My buddy and I both had the German Breakfast. Lots of meat, lots of eggs, lots of potatoes...it was a big breakfast. Good value I suppose, but I have been to a better greasy spoon. Sorry....

I love(d) Fraser Park for what it is and isn't. From the charm of the garden tap style self serve water to the quirky spot.
The food is pretty cheap, and for the most part very good. I shudder to think of the nutritional value, but that isn't why you go here. The Beef Dip is a favourite, and the soups are always amazing. The take home soups in the fridge and freezer are a great deal and I often grab one or two to take home. I have tried the schnitzel sandwich and burger, and it's not the schniztel, I crave, love and miss from Ukranian restaurants, Czech restaurants, or Italian...
It's quite small and it gets busy, so you usually need to be there by 11:30 to get some reasonably quick service and any hope of a table if you plan to eat in.
If this was my first visit today, I'd give it two stars at best. The show was this week featured on "You've gotta eat here" which seems to have made it even busier. My second clue to come back another day should have been the ominous signs posted outside and inside. To parahprase - Anton away, we are training new staff, thanks for your patience and support.
So, to sum it up:
Chef/owner away
Lots of new staff
Just featured on a foodie show
Equals a recipe for disaster. It took 45 minutes to get a grilled cheese that was soggy, and cut into odd shapes (I wish I'd taken a picture). The soup was great as always, but boy are they suffering!
This place goes off the list until:
A - Anton is back
B - hype from the show is dissipated
C - the new stuff know how to order, cook etc.
Shame, I hope it gets better... -

I expected more from this place. Maybe because it was over hyped to me, or maybe I ordered the wrong thing. It just wasn't what I was looking for.
I came early one day before work and had their German breakfast. My plate came piled high with scrambled eggs mixed with veggies, sausage, bacon and cured ham. It was served with a potatoes and toast as well. The best thing on the plate was their cured ham. Yum, but the rest of it was just meh.
My dining companion got something similar but it came with a schnitzel and gravy. The schnitzel wasn't thin enough and was overcooked leaving it tough and chewy.
All in all, I was a bit disappointed by everything. I am curious to try their lunch offerings though, so perhaps a return visit will be in the future. -

This place was close to where I was working at and I love the charm of this place and being able to support a small local owned business with great owners

This place in South Burnaby is a workers lunch spot. The items are mostly home made. The German lunch special is pretty good. I haven't tried the burgers yet. You can buy cold soup and take it home for (4 bowls worth) 5 bucks too.

Went back for brunch at 11:15am right before the lunch crowd starts to flood in. My Mom and I both ordered the German Breakfast, which composes of scrambled egg with onion and pepper, potato wedges, a small sample of potato pancake, half of Anton's homemade sausage, generous portion of ham and bacon, and 2 pieces of toast (white, brown or multi-grain). Sounds like lots of food? It IS a lot of food!!! 2 breakfasts and a bottomless coffee cost only $16. Everything is delicious.

Love this place for the filipina accent to a german deli. The German breakfast is a huge portion of food. The sausages really are homemade and a blend of beef & pork (& veal?). At lunch the burgers are made of the same blend - dont spoil it with bacon and cheese.

Best breakfast in town. The banana pancakes are amazing and the cook does his own sausages and bacon. The place is abit of a dive but the staff is friendly and helpful and the food is simply delicious. Place is always packed and soon to be featured on Food Network.

Really good eats for a super reasonable price. We had the schnitzel sandwich and beef dip both were tasty and good sized portions. The soup, Italian wedding, was nourishing and there were a lot of fries. I'll definitely be going back when I'm in the area.
