    PROS:
    + Convenient

    CONS:
    - Red Bean, black rice and taro aren't very high quality

For a place that only serves shaved snow, they are on the mediocre side. I had the shaved milk with red bean, taro and black rice. I thought all the condiments needed to be sweeter and thicker. They all seemed to be a little too watery or soft.

I had to try another before leaving, so I got a lychee flavored shaved snow with red bean and condensed milk(free). Free condensed milk, you just have to ask for it. Why didn't you tell me this the first time!?

Average place to get shaved snow.

Friend brought me here for shaved ice.  To be honest, it was not what I had expected at all, and in a good way.

The booth looks like the other 20 in Aberdeen's food court.  I had the regular shaved ice.

Every other place I know of makes this dish using chipped ice.  So it looks like a snow cone.  The pieces are crunchy, almost like gravel.  But this place shaves it down so finely it literally feels like fluffy powdered snow.  Wow!  Not bad for only $2!

If Asian-style dessert is your thing, I suggest you give this place a try.

It was good, but sad to say, still not quite as good as Class 302 in Rowland Heights down in Los Angeles.

Located in the food court of the Aberdeen Mall, was this little corner place that sold Frappe, flavored snow ice. I ordered the mango frappe with mango fruit and rice balls (left out the condensed milk). It was pretty good in the sense that it captured the mango flavor and that the snow was light. I think if they freeze their ice with some condensed milk mixed in, it would give the ice a smoother consistency.

Though I was extremely full before I started to eat this, I still finished it all.

I can't really eat anything here because of my diabetes, but I try to get a little taste ( half a spoonful) when I can.  Love the milk frappe.  Just like when I was a kid. I feel so jealous that so many people can eat what I can't and this makes reviewing tough for me.
Either I grin and bear it and work off those carbs with a bunch of pushups and jumping jacks later, or I just have a sampling to taste, just to know what it is like to dine on the other side.  The side of gluttony goodness.  A place where even Darth Vader would have but couldn't (because of his darn helmet and he had to eat from a straw) have dined.

It's not often I come and have a sampling of stuff here, but if I get the opportunity with a friend or hopefully that certain someone, and they have the milky ice frappe.  I will ask for just a spoonfull and it sends me back in time to when things were simpler, sunnier and a lot bigger.

This place is truly awesome for a quick and satisfying dessert. They have lots of different flavoured ices now.

My combo for the day: green tea shaved ice +red bean + mochi, with condensed milk on top.

I simple love the consistency of the shaved ice-because it's made with a higher cream content than just regular ice, the result is a light, creamy, icy texture. Melt in your mouth burst of flavour.

Of course, my combination tasted great (you really can't go wrong with red bean and green tea.)  I devoured the whole bowl in 5 minutes.

YUM!  I was filled to the brim from dimsum so I had to walk around the shopping center to work some off so that I could have some shaved snow!  Shaved snow is totally different from shaved ice.  It's a thinly shaven ice that is already flavored, I don't know how but it barely melts!  I was too full to get any toppings so I just got strawberry flavored.  It was really soft and flavorful and good.  The bowl is only about $2.50 and it's enough to feed at least 2!

They call it a frappe in English, but the Chinese translation is "snowflake ice." I've only tried this in HK, and find it rarely offered here in the states; they use blocks of flavored ice (not water ice) that is VERY finely shaved so you don't get the coarse gritty consistency of many shaved ices found elsewhere. Rather, it looks like cotton candy.

The "Maccha Delight" is a nice combo of green tea ice cream with rice cake, and red beans (we got it topped over green tea shaved ice); it's excellent, but I'd love it with red beans that are sweeter and syrupier.

Considering the uniqueness, it's not priced over my head. $5-6 get you a shareable bowl. The "Peanuts Iceberg" looks sinful.

10-15 minutes if there's a line? We were the only ones in line and we had to wait awhile.

There was only 1 girl working and she didn't seem at all interested and she was slow. We ordered 2 crepes and she did 1 at a time even though there were 2 hot plates. We couldn't enjoy the crepes together because crepes are best eaten when hot!

The prices are half that of Cafe Crepe but I found the crepe mix to be lacking in something. Perhaps it's the mix from the day before.

Maybe I'll try the shaved ice next time.

It's so hard to find "xue hua bing" or "shaved snow" outside of Taiwan. I've looked everywhere. Richmond is lucky to have Frappe Bliss. Unlike regular shaved ice, snow is flavored already (milk, peanut, strawberry, mango, etc.) and melts in your month instead of being crushed ice topped with flavor.

I've had bigger and nicer looking ones at Rowland Heights in LA (Class 302) and definitely much nicer ones in Taiwan, and though Frappe Bliss's looks a little pathetic compared to others I've had, it gets the job done.

    JONASAPPROVED!

Frappe Bliss definitely deserves more hype than some of the other stalls in the Aberdeen Center food court! (*cough*Beard Papa*cough*)

This is not your typical Hawaiian shave ice. More a dry-style shave ice, the ice itself is already flavoured instead of being doused with copious amounts of sugary syrups. You can choose from a variety of fruit flavours or more unique ones like green tea, peanut, and chocolate. It's also milk-based so it's creamy instead of icy. The texture is somewhat like a frozen version of cotton candy (minus all the sugar) - light, fine, and feathery. And it "disappears" once it hits your tongue!

    Ordering is very simple:
Step 1 - Choose your ice flavour.
Step 2 - Choose your own toppings (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) or go with their suggested combinations (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...)

I can't come to Aberdeen Center without a stop here and getting my two favourite shave ice - green tea (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) and peanut (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...). On numerous occasions I've tried just getting one but every time I finish it I end up going back and getting the other one. What I love about the flavourful ice is that they actually taste like what they're supposed to with nothing artificial (at least the green tea and peanut do). I like to choose my own toppings and usually get grass jelly and aloe because of the textures and flavours they add. You can also top it with condensed milk for added sweetness.

The prices are super-reasonable with a plain frappe costing only $2.50 with tax. (They're so good I can eat them plain if I'm feeling particularly frugal!) Frappe Bliss is a light, refreshing, and (best of all) healthy alternative to ice cream!

UPDATE (7.6.10): Just tried their coffee frappe and it's great! Very strong coffee flavour. Mango and lychee, not so much - very sweet but bland and artificial-tasting. I'd stick with the non-fruit flavours.

A must have dessert (especially on a warm and sunny day) in the Aberdeen food court.  Just to put things in perspective...remember when you were a kid and used to stick your tongue out when it snowed and secretly wished it tasted like something yummy to complete the Candyland dream?   Well, with their huge selection of flavored ices that are shaved into feathery light snowflake consistency, you won't be disappointed.  Just please...don't go throwing your snow ice in the air to celebrate and recreate that memory.

Excellent on a hot day and a great place to get a sweet treat after a nice meal.  The shaved ice is paper thin and so smooth and flavorful complimenting the wide variety of toppings.  Crystal Prince is one to look out for.  My cousin gobbled down the Thai Sensation.  I Dream of Eden is also a great sweet mixed with a bit of tart strawberries but loaded with fresh fruit.  Might be nice to ask for a bit of condensed milk to soften or melt down the shaved ice a bit and savour the melding of flavors.  Not sure what type of shaved ice flavor to have?  Ask them and they can let you know which one works best with which.  I often see people choose the Matcha Green Tea one with Mochi Rice Balls.  Yum!

If you like shaved ice, this is the place to go! On my trip to Vancouver, I've already gone to Aberdeen Centre twice and ate here twice! I have tried their "Dream in Eden" for $5.95 which came with kiwi, mango, strawberry and mango ice cream on top of sweetened shaved ice and drizzled with condensed milk. SO GOOD! You definitely want to share this bowl with a friend, portion is huge! And this is the first time I've seen shaved ice like this.

When you think of shaved ice, you think of snow cones, or crushed up ice. But the way they make it, is different. It's really cool watching them put it together for you. They basically have this block of round ice that's already flavored just rice with condensed milk and they put the block on this machine which turns the block of ice and shaves it into a bowl. VERY COOL!

On my second trip I tried the Aloe Vera w/citrus flavor and that was tasty too! If you like Aloe Vera drinks and a bit of sourness, this is really good! It's only $3.95! No ice cream though.

They also serve sweet and savory crepes. Which looks yummy too! Maybe on my next trip I'll order one. The only drawback is that the 2 girls that was there both times are SO SLOW! Be prepared to wait 15-20mins for your shaved ice if you have 2-3 people ahead of you.

bliss. shared a FRUITY TROPICAL atop mango shaved ice. toppings included: jelly, lychee, mango, kiwi and strawberry. as others have stated, the shaved ice is very thin and just melts in your mouth like sorbet. this totally hit the spot!

Okay, I've never had a Frappe Bliss before. They take fruit flavors, and condensed milk and freeze it, then with a rotary, ice-shaver use a spinning blade to shave the ice into think ribbons of delightful fruity ice. They then add fruit toppings of your choice and some condensed milk drippings. The result is an icy cold, flavorful, refreshing dessert, which is light, healthy, and very very tasty.

I still can't decide if I like flavored ice better, or hawaiian shave ice. However, if you like your shaved ice to come from a frozen block of lychee or mango infused creamy goodness, such that it comes out soft, sweet, and ready to be wolfed down with fresh fruit toppings and condensed milk, you must drop by this mall and partake on your way in or out of vancouver.

I was in BC during a 80+F day.  This is a life saver for me and I was surprised by the high quality of icy, soft and tasty bliss.  I will make sure I will have at least one ice by myself during my BC visit.
