Review from Gorman E.
One of the better pizza places on the East Side.
On occasion, I come here for lunch or take out for dinner.
My dine in experience has been hit & miss on service. Upon entering no one to greet you...I think it is because the staff is really young and back behind the counter?
The pizza are pretty good but I wouldn't say it is the best I ever tasted but it is solid. The lasagne is yummy. The baked mac & cheese is tasty but oily. The chicken Parmesan is good.
On the night of the Italian theme Yelp Elite Event, I needed to bring food for the pot luck so I came here. The owner Frankie was super helpful to help me pick out a large pan of Angel Hair Pomodora - it was made with fresh ingredients and it came with fresh garlic bread sticks. Haha, many yelpers thought I made it but I bought it here.
The food was made in a timely manner especially being busy at dinner service. And the food was a hit at the event and it fed 18 - 24 people.
The owner even help me carry it to my car. That is wonderful customer service!
Recommended.
P.S. Parking lot and the owner sells his cook books at the entrance.Listed in: Lunch options on the Eastside

Whenever I am working late, Frankie's to the rescue! I'm lucky enough to work near this establishment. Warning, the large is slightly larger than other large pizzas. I always run into the door on my way out when I order carry-out. A large can easily feed 4 adult males. Pizza's are about the same price as Zeeks, ingredients are very fresh and they do not skimp on topping that pizza! I highly recommend trying the The Italian Stallion, it's one of my favorite all-meat pizza's in the Seattle area.
+ Great party pizza as the large can feed many!
+ Fresh toppings with generous portions!
- Very small parking lot, can get tight during dinner times
- Take-out orders can also take time, I was the second person in line and it took 15-minutes to pick my order up...
Tip
Ask for a side of their sauce, it goes great with your left over crusts! -

Decent meal, everything was tasty in a mediocre way, and VERY large portions. Good spot for kids. Prices are very reasonable. Its probably a step up from Olive Garden- barely. I probably would not return, however I don't know the Italian food landscape in this area very well, so who knows...This is a 'safe' choice and your food will be fine but not a 'destination' for fine dining whatsoever. I had tortellini bolognese special, and I cleared the plate, so no compliant on my end....

Let me start out by saying that this pizza is so delicious and so gourmet that it completely blew me out of the park. I will definitely get pizza from here again, Im gluten-free and I didn't expect to still have this quality of pizza with a gluten-free crust. I worked in an authentic Italian restaurant for 5 years and this place makes the same if not better 'za.
My man type and I ordered the gluten-free Vesuvius house pizza (basil-walnut pesto, mozz, fontina and ricotta cheese, prosciutto ham and roasted red bell peppers) -Just writing this is making my mouth water... I think I know what is for dinner tonight...
My only issue (and I hate to say it because I dont want you to miss out on the yumminess) was that when I sat down and had a salad, fruit flies immediately started to pester me. I couldn't take a bite before I had to swat them away. My boyfriend and I ended up having to ask our VERY VERY nice server if we could just get our 'za boxed up, so that we could devour it at home without distraction (which we did immediately when we got through the doorway). I'm still going back the Frankie's but I most likely just order food to go.Comment from Frank C. of Frankie's Pizza & Pasta 9/20/2011

Best Pizza deal for lunch.
I have been back many times for lunch. Inviting decor, greeted upon entering. Once seated, our beverages were delivered promptly. The ice tea is refreshing. I ordered the fresh lemonade.
Pizza and salad combo is the best. Large portions, salad was fresh, pizza served hot. My veggie pizza was packed with flavor.
Give them a try. If you love wine, their wine list is one of the best. If you really like their wine, join their wine club. -

I'm usually not picky, and honestly, when it comes to pizza, I never, EVER, even THOUGHT it would be possible for me to complain. Were we too extravagant with our choice?! Did we try to get something too creative? No.
From the lack of hospitality we received by our server who could give two sheets, I was hoping the Gourmet Vegetarian pizza the troll managed to scribble on a notepad would make up for that. Their pizza does not deserve to have the word "gourmet" included in any of their descriptions. Couldn't be more wrong.
How? The entire thing, overall, was a bitter and sour experience. I actually left angry, and headed to DQ to help my taste buds forgive me and my poor judgement based on good reviews. Bitter pizza, the crust and dough completely overcooked and very dry. No flavor, just plain bitter throughout and after.
Pros? Sure! The establishment looks "cute" like others have mentioned. The "busboy" actually showed more hospitality and demonstrated good customer service compared to the server. Yes it looks cozy. Is the pizza good? Hell no! Would I give it a second chance? Not knowing that I can get a Costco pizza for 50% less that is guaranteed to be marvelous.
Bitter pizza left me bitter. -

After 4+ years of living in the area, we gave up on finding up on finding a good local pizza. Then a friend suggested that we have lunch at Frankie's. I was dubious, but she was quite insistent, so off to Frankie's we went.
What a lovely surprise! I liked it the moment I walked in the door. Definitely not a chain restaurant experience. Once I saw pesto pizza on the menu, they really got my attention. Lunch pizza slice and salad was great, but the true test would be dinner with the fam.
Went back last night, and impressed my guys with my pizza-finding skills. Frankie greeted us at the door and then introduced himself when we were seated. Our server made great suggestions and was very engaging (even while carding our 23-year-old son). When we asked for extra bread with our appetizer, she sent it right over - on the house.
We got the "Vesuvious" pizza (with mushrooms instead of ham), which was superb. The side-dish of broccoli was the best I've ever had. While you're getting excited about the broccoli, I should also mention that the beer on-tap was great.
This is not fast-food pizza - you will pay more for the BEST pizza on the Eastside.
Looking forward to many repeat visits!Comment from Frank C. of Frankie's Pizza & Pasta 3/6/2012

Cute little restaurant with awesome food. Right when my bf and I walked in we didn't even bother looking at the menu. Everything smelled SO good.
My bf and I were actually going to go to Pizza hut because we're new here and wanted something familiar from back home (canada). The pizza hut turned out to be a tiny little grab n' go place so we left and at the lights we saw Frankie's.
We started with the breadsticks and marinara sauce, then got the Gourmet Vegetarian as well as the Traditional Vegetarian pizza. It's also their garlic festival right now and i loooove garlic so we added that too. From the garlic scale of 1-5, we picked 2 and it was VERY flavourful. I wouldn't go any higher that that though because at times it felt like I was eating a mouthful of garlic.
The pizzas were awesome. If you want homemade or "fine dining" pizza then I would suggest going here. We'll be back again to try some of their pastas. -

It's what you'd expect for a family-owned type of Italian joint. Lots of filling and unhealthy pizzas and pasta, but nice for small family group dinners. They made good on a catering slip up and gave me $40 worth of gift certificates once, and that was nice of them.

This review is mainly for the pizza. I've only tasted one pasta dish and wasn't really impressed. The chicken sausage was really hard like it had just been reheated or something. It was meh.
But the pizza is great! A little bit thicker of a crust but not too heavy or chewy. I really like the sauce and the toppings, not too little sauce or too much cheese. Perfect. It was filling too! I could easily divide one small into two meals for myself.
I like the interior of the place too. It's homey. -

We've heard many good things about Frankie's so we thought we'd try out a take-out order. We got the Fettucine Alfredo and the Spaghetti with Meatballs. We asked if soup or salad comes with and were told that we could get Garden Salads with each.
We were surprised at our bill, which was $38 for two single-meal entrees. We didn't get an itemized receipt, but even at $12 and $10.50 for the pastas and $10 extra for salads (not mentioned, until I read the take out menu after arriving home!) I only come up with $32.50, so I'm not not sure where the extra amount came from.
My husband raved about the meatballs, but said the sauce was average. My fettucine alfredo was average as well.
Considering the high price and average fare and portions, we'd look elsewhere next time. We paid the same amount at Maggiano's, but it was worth it because we got several meals out of it, and their food was excellent. -

Cute Italian restaurant with lots of character in Redmond. There are pictures of Italy and the family all over the walls.
I tried the "Mama Mia" gluten-free pizza, which was very tasty and had just a hint of spiciness to it. Also had the caprese and the Italian Wedding Soup, both of which were delicious.
The service was also quick and very friendly. No complaints here :). Will have to try the pasta next time. -

Was in the area with my daughter and a request for Pizza rang out. Jumped on yelp and this seemed to be the place to go. When we arrived that confirmed it as it was packed on a Tuesday afternoon. Granted after a holiday weekend. Got the lunch calzone. It was a decent size for the lunch portion. the meats were tasty. My daughter got the cheese pizza. In fact she got 2 slices. So it must have been good.

This is the kind of locally-owned Italian restaurant that I've been looking for. Everything about our experiences there have been pleasant. From the owner's personal involvement to the delicious food, Frankie's is going to be a regular stop for me.
I have tried a few dishes, including the pizza. The Mama Mia pizza is amazing - spicy and fresh. The crust is just right - not too thick, not too thin. (There is also a gluten free option for those who need it, but I have not tried it.) The chicken parmesan is prepared correctly with good quality chicken. The Italian wedding soup is full of flavor. The calzone was stuffed full of top quality cheese, and the pepperoni was just the right amount of spicy.
The respectable wine selection is also worth mentioning, and Frankie even has a wine club.
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Redmond! -

Cannot beat these guys for Pizza in Redmond. Period.
For the location, this place looks a lot rustic as opposed to some of the other eaterias here. Nice n cozy place where one can spend a good time and head back home. They also serve good pasta, but nothing beats the pizza they have.

It was packed at 7pm on a Sunday night, but we were seated right away and promptly waited on. The salads were riddled with dead lettuce, but aside from that were tasty. I ordered a gluten-free pepperoni pizza that was excellent. My sweetie's slice of cheese pizza was a "3.75 outta 5". Our tab for one soda, one 2-topping GF pizza, 2 half-salads and a slice of cheese pizza was over $30. Ouch. Thankfully the waitress honored the "get $2 off a large pizza" Yelp! coupon despite the fact we didn't order a large pizza. I've eaten a lot of gluten free pizzas in my time, and this was one of the best ones. We'll be back!

Best pizza in Redmond, easy. Frankie's pizza is always loaded with fresh toppings and insanely delicious. I love their honey-wheat dough option (it's sooo good on the traditional veggie pizza). I am not a fan of pepperoni on pizza, but I even like THAT here!
They have plenty of traditional non-pizza offerings, and I keep telling myself that I will try at least one of them some day- but their pizza is so freaking good that I haven't been able to bring myself to not order it. I just need to give up and order 2 dinners next time; that's never a bad idea.
Parking does kindof suck, but it's worth the trouble of cramming your vehicle in to get a slice of this stuff.Listed in: Redmond is Super Cool

I can't believe it took me so long to try Frankie's.
If you're looking for gourmet authentic italian brick oven pizza, you'll have to go elsewhere.
What you will find here is home cook pan style pizza with fresh sauce and ample ingredients. There pizza is the main attraction and I've never strayed away to any of their other dinner offering so this review is only covering their pizza.
The sundae is nothing special and not really worth the calories compared to a pint of really good ben and jerries.Comment from Frank C. of Frankie's Pizza & Pasta 1/10/2012

not to be mistaken with the Frankie's Pizza in Issaquah!!!!
this establishment is a bit strange. came in with a friend and there was no one at the greeter station to say hello. the person behind the counter looked up, made eye contact and instead of saying "hello" they hollered at someone else to let them know someone was up front. haha
upon being seated - waitress took our drink order and brought some garlic/cheese bread out. it was very fluffy and a bit overly greasy up top. decent flavor but it was more bread that topping so kind of blandish?
we had the baked mac n cheese - awesome! some of the best baked mac and cheese i've ever had... great flavor and texture. but again bottom of the bowl you can see a pool of butter/oil.
we also had the house special calzone. plenty of stuffing - the shell was flaky and crispy which was nice. but upon picking it up - everything fell right out and more oil poured out. and the crust looked delicious - but so thick that the center portion was undercooked. so i didn't get a chance to try it.
the lunch portions were more than enough for two people for both items. good flavors but definitely not to be eaten if you don't like overly buttery or oily dishes. other than that - it was okay over all due to the service. the waitress was very tentative and nice but lacked a welcoming feel from entrance to exit. -

My girlfriend and I went to Frankie's for dinner last night. We had a lovely dinner and will definitely go back to try other dishes. I had the mediterranean olive and chicken gnocchi. It was delicious! It's a seasonal dish, however, offered only in the winter. I asked and was told its last day on the menu is the 17th of this month. My girlfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were great! The sauce was on the bland side though. Not bad, just not what I'd expect given that it seemed to be freshly made.
Other non-food notes... The restaurant has an extensive wine list. I wasn't in the mood to drink but I was impressed what they had available. The wait staff were pleasant, helpful, quick to top off my water and didn't pressure us to make our dinner choices into "complete meals" aka adding soup or a salad. The parking lot was on the small side but it looked like the backside of the building along NE 79th had street parking. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their sun-dried tomato pasta and one of their pizzas. -

Went here because of good yelp reviews...Ordered a couple slices of pizza at the counter and told them I would like to eat here. They guy told me I couldn't sit in the main restaurant section and that I had to sit at some tables by the door...That other section was for a different type of customer. He didn't even want to get me water or serve me at all. Probably the worst service I've had.
Here's the funny part. On the way out there is a giant sign that says they are hiring for a customer service position. What a terrible experience for bad/cold pizza that had been sitting under hot lamps for probably 4 hours.Comment from Frank C. of Frankie's Pizza & Pasta 6/22/2011

Dang.
I loved everything about this place except the food.
Beware the sausage.
But service was outstanding. We brought a mob of 9: 4 grownups, 3 school-aged kids, and 2 in high chairs. They brought out blobs of egg-free dough for the kids to play with. Kids got pizza by the slice and loved it.
Grown-ups agreed to split a combo, and none of us liked the sausage, which was pervasive.
Beware the sausage...
BEWARE!!!
But, truly, this place was so friendly and the neighborhood-pizza-joint atmosphere was RIGHT ON... I told my hubby, "We're coming back here and we're going to find *something* we like to eat."

More calzones.
I came here for lunch on a random day with Leah H., my mother, Mike H., John L., Shu-Min H., Peter H., Wei S., and my brother.
Looking over the menu, couldn't decide what to order. Finally, I heard that the calzones here are pretty good. I went with that comment, and ordered the house special calzone. It is stuffed with Italian sausage, salami, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and onions.
We were served bread before the dishes arrived, as well as warm bread. When the calzones came, I wasn't as blown away as at Varlamo's. They were a not as eye popping of a size, and didn't spill over the plate.
I cut open the calzone, and the fillings slid out like there was no tomorrow. Cheese was all melted, it smelled delightful. I took a bite of the calzone, and it was sweet. The dough was perfectly baked, and I love the freshness and heartiness of the filling. Yum!
I want to come back to try their calzone veneto, Waimea Bay calzone, summer salad, meatball sandwich, penne rigate with pesto, roasted vegetable manicotti, and gnocchi with sausage and sweet peppers.
I'm lovin' the Italian food! -

We had some pizzas brought over by my husband's friend for dinner. My husband only likes to order from Papa John's for some reason which bums me out but whenever I get to have "real" pizza I immediately get excited.
I can't speak for much of their menu or dine-in but the pizzas we had for takeout were awesome. Their crust and cheese were spot-on and their toppings were above average quality. I liked how their sausage was more like ground beef and less like deer turds. I can't wait to try other menu items. -

Amazingly authentic Italian food at decent prices. My boyfriend, daughter, and i have eaten here several times, and usually order 2 entrees, 1 italian soda, and an appetizer. The total comes to around $50, including tax and a 25% tip.
Last time we were there I ate some amazing noodles drenched in sundried tomato pesto. We tried to replicate at home, and came close, but we wil be back again for this yummy creation.

I just went back to Frankie's for the first time in what has probably been 7 years.
I always had liked it there in the past, but since I was being more strict and following my gluten free diet, pizza and pasta were not even in the radar of places I looked at.
Well, I saw on yelp recently that Frankie's now has a gluten free pizza crust!
So, I went back with some friends recently. The Pizza was amazing.
The only advice I would give is that a "10 inch" gluten free pizza seemed to be more like 12-13 inches. So if you hate leftovers, either plan on splitting / sharing or go hungry. :)
Also, please keep in mind that your entire group should be present before checking in / being seated. (They may even ask you.) -

Rough night tonight.
I ordered mushroom pasta dinner, wife a Gorgonzola pesto pasta entree. Food delivered very fast. Great! Except that I received my entree, sans dinner accompaniments, and my wife received a sun dried tomato pesto dish.
Never saw our service person again till I had eaten half my entree, wife long given up waiting and ended up eating her dish.
I enjoyed my dish, the wife not so much. Her dish appeared hastily prepared and was swimming in oil. I understand it's an oily dish. This was way over saturated.
Problems did not end there. We received our bill and discovered five glass of wine charges, $5.75 each, when we had enjoyed only 2.
When pointed out to our server, she retrieved the invoice, corrected it and returned it with little acknowledgement of error or apology.
Granted, Saturday night 6:30, but service did not rise to the standard we have enjoyed for many, many years. -

This place is nothing but fillers. First off, I got the Antipasto Salad, which was missing 3 of the 9 ingredients they said would be in it, one of them being the meat (i.e. the reason I chose that salad), they put the wrong cheese on it, for which they charged me an extra dollar, and then they added an ingredient that wasn't listed (and that I don't like). The lasagna was seriously just thick layers of pasta with some red sauce in between and some ricotta, with a meat sauce poured on top. It was all pasta, no meat. I also got a pizza - the Carmelized Rosemary Onions with Fontina and Prosciutto pizza. First off, in the pic it looks like there's a lot of prosciutto - truth is, there is very little. Are you seeing a pattern yet? Stingy on the costly ingredients, generous on all the fillers. Even the pizza that was once called "The Inferno" wasn't at all spicy. The prices are average and they were quick to prepare the order. Would I return here again? Not unless it becomes my only option, in which case, I could be forced into it. But, if you're really up for Italian food, I can assure you there are at least 2 places I can think of off the top of my head that are better in Redmond.

Back in the diz-zay, a somewhat...err... sturdier (yes, let's use that term) KTown used to dine on slice after slice (and sometimes after slice) with her parents on Frankie's infamous Gourmet Vegetarian pies.
And with good reason. These pizzas are the friggin' shizz... fo' rizz.
Now, the days of my double, double chins are long gone, but 17 years later the memory of this tasty veggie pie remains.
Loaded up with mozzarella and Fontina cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, red onions, artichoke hearts, Calamata olives and fresh basil, I would LOVE it when my dad would either bring them home... or better yet- we'd dine in.
Seriously though. If you find yourself in Redmond and you're not in the mood for Fatburger or 3 minute teriyaki (Thank you, Teriyaki Nasai) Frankie's is a great alternative. Not super cheap, but super tasty...
which is more important, IMO.Listed in: On The Eastside!

I've only tried the pizza here, because it's so good I never want to bother with anything else.
If you get a "standard" pizza it's nothing special, but where Frankie's excels is with their variety of ingredients and different cheeses. You HAVE to try a pizza with just Montrachet (Goat Cheese), no mozzarella, and toppings of choice (I love it with olives and pepperoni). Seriously, you have to! Stop reading this, throw your computer away, get in your car, and go!
They have a complete online ordering system which is nice.
Why are you still reading this? I told you to GO!
The first time I actually ordered pizza (some friends introduced me to the place and had always ordered) they screwed up my pizza and put mozzarella on it. When I pointed out the error they remade the right pizza, let me have the mistake, AND threw in a free salad. And then the hostess apologized because the owner was there so she couldn't knock anything off the price. Taking care of the customer, what a novel concept! -
Review from Julia Z.
I still love Frankie's and we've eaten there a million times; the owner's family members who work there all recognize us and two of them know us by name to the point where we don't get asked for a name when we get added to the waiting list. We have cred with the family, and we're loyal.
But tonight I was disappointed with two things.
First, I learned that they don't make their own meatballs for spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs are brought in frozen, and they do contain soy protein, so I can't eat them. What a bummer!
Second, I got their beautiful tomato-basil-Italian sausage cream soup tonight, and it was delicious. Until my mouth swelled because the sausage had soy protein in it.
So... if you have food allergies, you'll have to stoop to asking which items are made completely in-house (being homemade almost always eliminates the soy protein risk).
On the plus side, and keeping that five star rating honest, the four-cheese baked macaroni and cheese with applewood bacon was so good I wanted to lick the plate. And their chicken parm is still homemade and still tastes fantastic.Listed in: Parents, for Kids, Top Restaurants, Escape Microsoft!, Places for Groups, Desserts!

Finally, some good pizza! I hail originally from New Jersey, so was spoiled early on with respect to pizza. I'd love to find the same kind of New York style with which I grew up, but beggars can't be choosers, and in Seattle, it would appear that we're definitely beggars when it comes to quality euro-ethnic cuisine, or at least pizza, and at least when compared to the east coast.
Anyway, we heard of this place through a coworker, and since we we found ourselves both starving and near Redmond today, we thought we'd check it out. Apparently, it was the best pizza that this coworker had found thus far, and although a nice guy, he's from San Diego, and pardon me, but what do Californians know about good pizza? (nyuk nyuk) Which is a taunting way to say that I didn't know what to expect. We went really early--a little before 4:00 on a Saturday--and, as you might expect, there was plenty of seating and prompt service. The interior is small, but quaint, I thought. It felt authentic, like a real-deal Italian kitchen that you might find in other regions of the country.
The round-trip time from when I ordered a Mac & Jack's to it appearing on the table may be the shortest I've ever seen anywhere--twice! And for those, like myself, that enjoy a good draft beer, their pours were free of the nasty aftertaste that afflicts some lesser establishments. Mmm, cool, fresh Mac & Jack's. If you enjoy wine, I can corroborate another reviewer's mention of a fairly extensive wine list, or at least extensive for a place of its seemingly modest demeanor.
We ordered bread sticks to start, and they concerned me, because at many pizza parlors, the bread sticks are a very good indication of what you can expect from their pizza's crust. The bread sticks were doughy and really nothing too special.
Our pizzas, however, were another story. We each ordered our own small pizza, being fully mentally prepared to take leftovers home. After all, anyone who doesn't like leftover pizza, hot, cold, or anywhere in between is a commie and should not be trusted. My girlfriend got the classic veggie pizza, which is your standard mushrooms, peppers, olives, and tomatoes fare. I got one of their specialty pizzas that is being offered throughout their "9th Annual Garlic Festival" (and to think I hadn't brought my party clothes!), that I ordered with "five cloves" (think like stars at Thai restaurants). The crust was crisp, but not too crisp. The sauce and cheese had good flavor. We both thought the pizza was delicious.
We had a minor snag in that when they originally brought out our pizzas, mine was covered with sausage, which is definitely not what I thought I ordered. It turned out that the cook made the wrong pie (called by a similar name). Since one of our pies was as expected, crisis was averted because we were able to eat. Throughout our visit, our server was attentive and friendly, and followed through here. She fixed it straight away. The kitchen cooked up a new pie as quickly as possible (which was pretty quick), and brought it straight out from the oven.
Would the experience have been different if it'd been a crowded weekend night? Yes, quite possibly. However, our experience there today was a resoundingly positive one, and even though it's 25 miles from home, we are definitely planning on returning in the future. I've eaten pizza at some of the places around town that have been called "best in town," and have been underwhelmed, to say the least. Frankie's isn't "true New York style," or anything like that, but I don't care. It's just good pizza, and quite simply, that's what I want.Listed in: Pizza Pizza
