I will risk a critic's faux pas and begin this review with a cheesy description of Frame/Craft Ltd. Picture Perfect!
Not only is Frame/Craft Ltd. Edmonton's oldest custom framing business (they've braved over 40 Edmonton winters!), it also boasts a highly knowledgeable and professional team of employees.
Finding this little framer's shop and art gallery may be a bit of trouble, but the effort is well worth it. Tucked away in a residential part of town, no one would suspect a little hide-away artist's collective: Frame/Craft Ltd. also sells pottery, paintings, and hand-crafted jewelry by local artists.
After the initial shock of seeing yellow/green shag carpet lining the entirety of the store, the greeting of the helpful employees has more than a reassuring and calming effect. The customer service is nothing but exceptional.
Although some may think choosing matting is inconsequential, at Frame/Craft Ltd. the staff understands the enormity of committing to a particular shade of green, and a particular cut and thickness of a mat: they realize this is something that will serve to decorate your home, and something you will be looking at often for a long period of time.
The woman who helped me never tired of switching different mats and trying different frames until we found the right ones for the art I was framing. In fact, she insisted on trying again and again until I saw a combination that looked right- she also was able to produce plenty of examples that fit my budget.
Yes, budget might get in the way of plans for custom framing, but if you go to Frame/Craft Ltd. you'll get expert and professional work for minimal prices. They have a wide variety of frames, mats, and glass from which you will surely find something that fits your tastes and doesn't burn a whole in your pocketbook. And if you can't pay for everything up-front, they allow you to make a down-payment and pay the remainder after your items are framed.
Friendly staff, friendly prices, Frame/Craft Ltd. is a great place to have your art framed.
