Now, I believe, the oldest cinema in Canada. I've been going for every one of my 58 years. Great place to see a movie and stroll on summer night on Queen or the boardwalk. Bars and cafes everywhere. Toronto used to have hundreds of these treasures. Go while you still can.

I've watched only one movie here 4 years ago. The theater gives the striking impression of being in a time capsule. Unlike other theaters, it feels inviting, relaxing, quiet, calm and gentle. The seats are very comfortable. They might be the best movie theater seats in Toronto. The seat is wide, and there is enough space to comfortably cross your legs too. The screen size is generous, but don't expect state-of-the-art sound system.

It's unfortunate that I hardly ever venture into this area. And the theater's selection of movies isn't really that diverse. The theater caters to locals in the neighborhood. Still, the theater is a great place to experience the movies with all your senses

This place is great! It is great to see a movie in an older theatre. A theatre that is quaint, homey and relaxing. Everyone that works there is helpful, and the concession stand is nothing like I have ever seen! It has local bakery items and a variety of sodas to choose from.

Perfect, perfect place to see a movie if you want to totally relax, chill out and not deal with the masses at an AMC or Silvercity.

One of the best old theaters in Toronto to show beyond first run and independent film!

Just like it's siblings, the ambiance in the Fox is great, the decor is classic, and I love the bakery goods, as well as the pop (they serve the kind that's basically syrup that's combined with soda water, in addition to the regular stuff like Coke and Pepsi.) And they have Interac for purchases-another plus when you don't want to be taking out money to buy tickets and food from an ATM. I wish I had come here to see Starchaser: The Legend Of Orin in 3D last year, but seeing Buckaroo Banzai two weeks ago was a great consolation prize (I hope that they have another '80's movie festival, or maybe even a Star Trek or Star Wars movie festival!)

All in all, a grand old movie theater-and it's located right next to a TTC stop as well. I'll be going back.

Hands down, the best theatre to watch a movie in Toronto - Not because it's got the loudest speakers, or biggest screen, but for the ambiance:  it's a 1 room, early-mid 20th century theatre.  There's a concession stand on your way in to the movie, right behind the outside, single-person ticket sale booth.

The best part is that if you buy a membership for $10 (good for a year) then tickets are $7.  $7!  That's almost the cost of a DVD rental at Rogers.

Can't say enough good things about it - and the fact that you can go to "The Goof" (fund short-order restaurant across the street) for dinner before really completed the whole throwback "Dinner & a Movie" experience.

What can I say. Cheap Movies, Big Theatre, Big Screen, Nice Leg Space. Great selection of films. I wish I lived in the neighbourhood. Not crowded at all. Old Skool Theatre.

This is a great cinema and used to be part of the Repertory Cinema chain in Toronto.  It is one of the few remaining old movie theatres in the city and the interior has not been touched or renovated.  It's a clean and warm environment with one screen.  There are ample seats which are the only new addition.  The new seats are a great touch because they don't squeak as they do in other old cinemas and they are much more comfortable.  It almost has the feel of a museum.  At the back of the theatre are examples of old projection machines from throughout the ages.  Seeing them really puts the era of the building in perspective.  The walls are all lined with minimal art deco designs and the screen is nice and big as they all were back in the day.  This is a great, cozy environment in which you can see a movie that may already have stopped showing in the main stream cinema chains.

This is the best place in Toronto to see a film.  It's a REAL movie theatre-one big screen, comfortable seats, old movie posters and projectors.  I attended the children's matinees as a child and now love going to the 4:15 Saturday matinees.  They also occasionally show films of operas and ballets here.  Last year, they even showed THE MUPPET MOVIE.  Great popcorn and other treats. Wonderfully kind staff.  Only $6.00 with a membership adds to the sweetness of the experience.
