This place is great, within walking distance from the Banff Strip where all the restaurants and shops are located. The rooms are great, the hot pools are relaxing and the restaurant is a nice plus.
When we are in town again, I will be staying here!!! -

The hubby and I stayed here while we were in Banff enjoying time away from Sunny AZ. The front desk staff were very friendly and help me find some restaurants that could satisfy both my vegetarian pallet as well as my carnivore of a husband.
The staff that handled the breakfast option at Chili's were just ok. Not too friendly, not too quick with the drink orders and you would think that people would just come off the street looking for a free meal the way they barked for your breakfast coupon.
It's within walking distance of all the shops and eatery's and you pretty much want to go back there every night in case you missed something. Underground parking is a bit tricky on late nights, but the surrounding streets are very parking friendly.
I forgot my camera battery charger and didn't realize it for a couple weeks and they were great with returning it.
I would stay here again! -

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend and it was magical! I happened to get an amazing deal through expedia and we stayed in one of the loft suites. The room was so nice! We had a fire place in the room and it was so lovely to sit by. The bedroom was upstairs with a killer view.
Loved the King size bed in the room and it was so comfortable. Actually the bed was more comfortable than my bed at home. The room was clean and everything was neat and tidy.
The reason why I gave this hotel 4 out of 5 instead of the 5 out of 5 I wanted to give is when we went for our complimentary breakfast the staff was rude and there was a huge lack of communication. We were asked if were seated when no one was around to actually seat us we followed other guests who also wandered in. Then more than one staff member asked if we had our breakfast vouchers when we had given them to the first staff member who asked us. Over all fabulous stay would recommend to any and everyone! -

Hello, Mr. Fox, Mr. Elk and Ms. Moose,
My name is Crystal and I was your guest this week. I appreciated your overly thorough run through of the amenities, the lengthy booklet of coupons, free parking, wi-fi, breakfast voucher and the free transit pass. But most especially, thanks for the clean room, even with my early arrival!
You thought of so many kind additions to your guest rooms! It felt like I was walking into a log cabin, complete with your animal kin on the wallpaper. Yes, moose, fox, elk and possibly other species of horned mountain creatures. The room was cozy, with a sitting area, desk and the lavender soap from Rocky Mountain Soap Company was a really lovely touch. I was a little put off by the widows which faced into the open air courtyard/hallway. My room was right off of a staircase, which basically meant anyone of your relatives walking down the stairs had a full view of my room, unless the shades were completely drawn. But, there is something to be said for leaving your room and walking right into the open air!
But the shining gem was the hot pools. You sure know how to spoil a girl on a business trip! Designed like a cavern, the pool is perfect for lounging from 6:30am to 11pm. It feels magical when you're looking up towards the open sky from the basement surrounded by stone and waterfalls. So much so that I woke up early the morning I was leaving just to start my day in the pools. Pure bliss and the reason I'll stay at your home again.
Thanks for the mountain air sleep,

The Fox Hotel & Suites in Banff is a luxurious place to stay while you are staying the lovely mountain town. It is located on Banff Avenue and is not a far walk to all of the shops and restaurants in downtown Banff. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in a loft suite and it was beautiful. With the bedroom and bath in the upper part of the suite you feel absolutely cozy and enjoy an amazing view of the mountains as the sun rises in the morning.
The downstairs has a great comfy space for lounging and watching TV as well as space to work at a desk and a mini kitchen. The service staff was so professional as well. From the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning staff -- we had nothing but great experiences.
We didn't get a chance to experience the "grotto" but it looked incredible. It is an open air hot tub enclosed in a magical cave in the lower level of the hotel. I imagine it would be so beautiful and peaceful to sit down there when it is quiet and look up through the hole at the stars. -

Centrally located in Banff this is a good base if you want to hike in Banff or even lake Louise area. The hotel is on the main drag but not downtown so you don't get the constant traffic. The Fox Inn is a nice 10-minute walk to downtown Banff or you can take the bus which is free with the hotel coupon. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had the upgraded suite that included a kitchenette and a small living room, which made it nice to have the extra room since we were staying 5 nights. The hotel also has a gym and a heated pool for those patrons who enjoy that kind of activity. All in all, the Fox Inn was a tad expensive but what do you expect in Banff? Next time I may look at lodging in the Canmore area where the good restaurants are located.

One of my best lodging experiences so far. The place is brand new and the design is so elegant. Loved their underground hot pool and hey: There's a Chili's diner at the lobby!!
Free Internet, free parking and free breakfast + spacious beautiful rooms. It is also walking distance from heart of town. Might be a bit pricey. But this place has it all -
Review from Doug A.
Great place to stay. Great free internet and free continental breakfast in Chili's. The hot tub/pool below looks cool. The woody place smells great like an old wooden lodge. The styling is very nice and new/fresh/contemporary. The rooms are very small, but work. No smoking rooms or balconies, but the doors open to the outside. Parking is very tight underground, but plenty is available on the street nearby. Easy to get to on the way into Banff. Coffee in room, no fridge, soaps/shampoo/etc are worth collecting, 4 pillows per bed....nice!

My favourite place to stay in Banff. I've stayed at the Fox at least 5 times because I love the grotto! They have an amazing hot tub all done up like a cave, with an open roof - the photos on their web site don't do it justice. While the other reviewer says they should keep the kids out, I find the hot tub has such a unique shape that you can find a corner to yourself or socialize with your neighbours - whatever your preference. I've never had a problem with the kids. I really like the variety of room types - there are lofts and suites and regular rooms, some have kitchenettes which is a nice treat. Although I'm not crazy about the restaurant, they do have an amazing included breakfast where you can even make your own fresh waffles. I think the Fox offers great value, at a great location. It is not a luxury hotel by any means but I love the atmosphere and of course, the "grotto."

Review from Tenzing N.
My family (I, wife, 18-year old son, 13-year old son) stayed at the Fox in August 2010, first for 4 nights and then for one more night at the end. Obviously we enjoyed it enough to come back. A few tips, though.
We stayed in one of the two types of one-bedroom suites. Our type had two double beds in the bedroom plus a pull-out sofa bed in the living room. The two rooms are on different levels. The other type has one king-size bed in the bedroom, and both rooms are on the same level. The standard (non-suite) rooms that we saw have two doubles, though I'd guess they also have some with a single king.
I'm not sure I'd stay at the Fox in the winter, since all rooms open to the outside, some to barely covered or uncovered walkways. No problem in the summer, of course.
The room we stayed in had good and bad points:
Good:
Clean, well-maintained, great bathrooms (though a bit small). Excellent picture on flat screen TV, and one on each floor of room.
Free wireless Internet, and no connection or speed problems.
Great staff. Nice, helpful, quick to respond to requests.
Hot tub is great.
Chilis doubles as a lunch/dinner restaurant and as a continental breakfast place, with no choice to order hot food (except pancakes, included in the continental breakfast). Adequate, but a bit boring by the fourth day.
Bad:
Air conditioner only in upper room, so be sure to crank it up early or it will be quite hot in the downstairs bedroom, which only has one window that you'll probably keep closed all of the time, with the blind pulled, to keep passers-by from looking in. You may not figure out that there's no air conditioner on the lower (bedroom) floor, since there is a thermostat there. But in fact there's no air conditioner - just a heater - so be sure to follow the advice above if you're there in the summer.
Unless you like the very firm and high pillows many hotels come with now, be sure to ask for "flat pillows" when you arrive. If you don't, you may end up with a permanent 45-degree bend in your neck.
The beds are very firm (as in "very") and I'm used to a firm bed at home. In our first room, it was almost too firm to sleep on, barely better in the second room.
Room size: the upper room with the sofa bed is small, but roomy enough (it includes a small kitchen off to one side). The lower room (bedroom) is as small as building codes allow: 2.5 to 3 feet between the two beds and on the outside of each bed, 3.5 to 4 feet at the foot of the bed (to the dresser). The dresser has two very large drawers, each topped by a high shelf, all underneath the long countertop. The TV is on the wall above the dresser. The closet is about 3 feet wide in the bedroom, but the safe takes up a great deal of horizontal space, so you have only 20 inches width to hang things.
All in all, enjoyable despite the several flaws noted, in part because it's attractive in the lobby, in the hot tub area, and in the rooms (visually, except for the two-level configuration of the double-bedded suites, and the small room size). The price (we paid between $260 and $300 a night, depending on day of week) struck me as a bit high, but then you'll find everything in Banff (and Jasper, though less so) strikes you as a bit higher than you'll probably expect - starting with the $136.40 park entry fee we had to pay on the highway before we ever got there: the "annual pass" family rate, but the best deal when you consider that (1) Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper are ALL considered "parks" and (2) the per-day, per-person charge is around $15-20, which makes $136.40 for the week for the family look better by comparison).
