Delicious food, great service, large portions and a beautiful interior. This place truly is authentic! Owned by three generations of Joseph Fortunas (with a fourth generation Joey Fortuna in the kitchen learning from his father) - the secret ingredients are impossible to replicate.
Try the eggplant parmesan (my favorite) and the gnocchi. If you want something just as delicious without the carbs you MUST try the beet salad and the shrimp cocktail. SO fresh and delicious I can't event explain it. Mrs. Fortuna makes the desserts from scratch! This place is seriously unbelievable. I can't wait to go back.
I just read the other reviews and I can't believe that they are complaining about the slow service! I mean - every dish is prepared FRESH and from scratch. I would much rather wait an extra 20 minutes for a handmade dish than to eat a quickly served microwavable meal. Dining out is an experience unlike going to a fast-food drive through. -

i was greeted at the door, seated right away. the waitress, Suzy, was very nice and i fleet like i was eating at my mom's house. she recommended the eggplant parm and it was the best i have ever had. the bread was so fresh and delicious, the sauce yummy. the portions huge ( i had to take some home) prices were good. i never expected the restaurant to be as nice as it was given the neighborhood. The owner came out of the kitchen, from cooking, and stopped by each table to say hello, i haven't seen that in years (old school) nice touch. Wine was very reasonable. The ravioli, sausage, gnoucchi, sauce were all homemade.
i can't wait until i'm back in town to return. -

I have to say that I' ve only had great experiences at this restaurant, and i never thought the service was rude nor slow. I've been there with a party of 6 with 2 kids, and my family of 4 with 2 kids. Multiple times. No problems.
The veal is excellent. The calamari dishes are excellent. The sauce is velvety in consistency not heavy. The gnocchi was good, the eggplant parm was good. The atmosphere was good. The Bombay Sapphire gin martini, straight-up with olives was good.
No, it's not what I'd call cheap, but if that's what you're looking for there are plenty of "cheap" level restaurants nearby: plenty of 'em! I can name a few restaurants locally where you can double the price as well. The area the restaurant is in isn't the best, but unfortunately for Niagara Falls, it certainly isn't the worst either.
All in all, this italian restaurant is one of the best in the area, with plenty of variety on the menu and a with a little bit of atmosphere as well. -

This is probably the most overrated restaurant to ever be farted out. The food is astronomically high in price, and you'd think it would taste astronomically good. Well, it doesn't. Actually it tastes like the fat sweaty guy from Hells' Kitchen tried to cook the food while he was running on a treadmill.
Service sucks, and it's on 19th street in the Falls, so you'll probably get mugged not once but twice: once by the restaurant, and twice by the locals.
Oh, and the sauce is basically water with a smashed up tomato in it. -

Fortuna's... I found this restaurant when I was searching for places that have great veal parmigiana and I came across this. I live in Toronto and I travel across the border frequently so I knew that I would try it at some point.
When we arrived the restaurant seemed to be overrun and busy which I thought was a good sign because then you would assume the food is good with the business they had but come to find out that wasn't the reason.
The service here has to be the slowest I have ever seen in my life.. tick, tick, tick where is the food? It must of been a good hour or more... but when the food arrived we were not disappointed, we all had the veal parmigiana since that's why we came and it was excellent!
We went back several times because we enjoyed it, even though the service is soooo long they have good food. The veal comes with two pieces and it is enough the share with someone else, they also have delicious homemade desserts!
The older waitress's that work here seem to have a attitude, if you go ask for Nicole! -

When I lived in WNY, we went here often. Their eggplant parmigiana is amazing. My husband loves their stuffed cherry peppers from the appetizer selection. No matter how many times we went there - the service was the slowest and worst that we have ever had. And yes they are pricey.
The servers all have a TERRIBLE attitude. We went in there one night for dinner with our daughter's family. Our dinner party included her 1 year old son. We went early to avoid the crowds and figured that maybe we would have faster service. Even though the entire downstairs of the restaurant was empty, they insisted that we had to eat upstairs. They were quick to tell us that there would be a wedding reception upstairs in an hour.
Of course given their slow service we didn't get our food until after the reception started. Naturally, the reception was very loud and we couldn't have any type of conversation. We couldn't get any diet coke refills because every server we asked told us that they were devoted to the reception. I had to go downstairs and find a server that could pull together our check. I felt sorry for the bride who had another table of guests at her reception.
Needless to say, that was our final visit. The food is great, but the service ruins the expensive food. -

Probably the best veal parm I've ever had hands down. True italian food and the place seems to have some history to it, which is always a plus for me. Good service and they are always friendly every time my girlfriend and I would go.

I knew it would be bad the second we got there. I started reading that comment book people sign when they are leaving, and no one had anything good to say. Just about every single comment in there was saying that the service was incredibly slow, and the food wasn't worth waiting for... Well we got a table quick, ordered our food, and I would say a solid 1 1/2 hours later we had our meals. I have no clue what took so long since there really wasn't anybody in there. They are supposed to be famous for their sauce- but it just tasted like watered down Chef's sauce. The food was very over- priced, and our waitress was rude. I will never go back there again!!!

Fortuna's Deluxe has been a family favorite for many yrs. Great for those seeking a relaxing, classic Italian meal. This is NOT fast food, everything is prepared to order. Starters like traditional antipasta are superb. The chicken soup tastes just like Nana's did. Fabulous sauces and meatballs, bread that could be a meal in itself. Attentive waitstaff know their regulars, and their business. If she's talking to someone & not you, it's prob a regular & your meals not up anyway. This is an ITALIAN restaurant, old school. Frank & Dean are on the sound system. People talk with their hands. Dinner takes time.
Save room for dessert. Mrs. Fortuna makes them all from scratch, secret family recipies. Strawberry Bavarian Creme Pie is heaven. Other fav include Lemon Breeze and Chocolate Walnut cake.
Bring the kids but only if they can be on their best behavior. There's no room for wandering tots in the hussle of a Saturday night.
