These National Historic Sites are worth a visit.  The entry fee is nominal and I was there for hours.  I'm not into war history but checking out the fortress is still interesting.  The views of the mountains and harbor make up for it even if you are just along for the ride.  They have done a very good job of turning the lighthouse, the first built on Canada's west coast, into an info center/mini museum.  It was nice to see they've preserved the land well enough that deer are still running around.  Upon approaching the harbor shoreline, I found it to be really smelly, but so be it.  This excursion makes for a lovely little day trip.
