If you're a history buff, particularly interested in early battles, this is the place to visit.   You can learn about the French rule of the area in the 1600's and wander through the fort, built in 1710, before the British conquered the region.   And if you plan it well, there's a military encampment complete with period costumes the first weekend of August.

There are guided tours taking you back in time to the New Scotland Settlement,  Or my favorite - Candlelight Graveyard Tours at 9:30 pm during the summer.   Very cool indeed.

Fort Anne is a great place to take kids or just take in the history by yourself.
