Recently discovered this small afterhours club last summer. It was my fave go to spot. Ladies were free before 12 on friday nights and Guys reduced. Friday nights are local toronto talent and saturdays, more experienced and/or international djs and club cover was more on saturdays.
Pretty friendly, easy going crowd, on a rare ocassion it was a miss rather then a hit but overall pretty good. no complains about footwork except the size of the club. its pretty dark which i love because i dont get to see any creeper watching me dance. the size tho, its small and it gets really packed because this is one of the only non sketch afterhours with good beats, so expect it to be really sweaty and packed and lots of pushing and elbowing.
and the 60% of the crowd are regulars so make friends with them LOL -

I am surprised I haven't had a seizure at Footwork.
When all clubs are closed, this is the place you head to for afterhours if you don't want to go to 'other' afterhours. So people at footwork are literally having the workout of their lives.
I'll be honest with you. Whenever I was at Footwork, there wasn't a single time when my mind and body were clean of any intoxicants. Now you know what kind of people go to Footwork. Hey, at least I danced and offered entertainment, unlike those zombies around the wall.
It is a very tight club, and the music is very techno. Not screeching type of techno. But that ambiance type techno that you listen to when you're high. And the lighting work is very severe with all kinds of blinking and reflections. If you have past experiences of seizure, then I don't recommend this club. Well, even if you don't, I still don't recommend this club. These people might as well get wasted at home, not moving to another club or coming out late after doing whatever they do when cops are not watching. -

We showed up Saturday at 3am. Not on E.
There were only 5 people in the line, so figured it would take 2-5 minutes to get in. Not so much, stood out there for 35 minutes while the bouncer enjoyed a major power trip. Eventually, everyone around us left. The bouncer finally decided that he would grace us with the gift of admittance. Cover was $20. No drinks past 2am.
Super random mix of people. There were the "we got rejected at the regular club and are hoping beyond hope to pick up a one-nighter" creepos, the "we think doing E is the coolest things ever, now watch me shake my water bottle" posers, and "I am dressed more slutty than normal because I heard after hours clubs are skankier". I just didn't get it. People were either lining the walls or fist pumping whilst simultaneously jumping for 3 hours straight. Also, never have my boyfriend or I been visually undressed that many times. Like, it's pretty obvious we're together. It's pretty obvious we're together for ever, not just for the night. I had to leave after an hour and a half because I felt too uncomfortable.
So yeah, may (and that's a big may) return if on E or Coke, but never while tipsy. Never with my manwife, either. -

Best club in Toronto! I've been coming to Footwork since it opened and after visiting several other venues in the city I can safely say there's no better place in town. They have the best weekly even in Toronto on Fridays with their Luv This City events and great headliners on Saturday nights. I Love Footwork.

Came here during a weekend trip to Tdot. Needed an after-hours dance fix to relive the good old clubbing days of Toronto, where it's unlike the poser clubs of L.A.
One star off for being $30. The dj was Nick Curly and the music was hot. We found a spot near a staired corner that had a fan and it kept us cool throughout the night despite hours of non stop "sober" dancing.
I hate how people have to rely on alcohol or drugs to dance or keep on dancing throughout the night. We danced for the love of the beats and there were a lot of "dancers" around which I appreciated and there were the usual creepy after hour frequenters.
I would go here again if it's still around when I come to town.
Four stars for the vibes, no line up/no b.s. at the door, good music and overall good crowd of house heads enjoying their music. -

I don't want to give this place a one-star review because it's got nothing particularly bad about it. The problem is that it doesn't have anything particulary good about it either. I'm kind of surprised at all the positive reviews.
It's not worth 2 stars because I was treated badly or some bad story. It's not that. I got in free thanks to a friend who works there. Yet, it's just a tiny club with a crowd that is either stands or dances like they're on E (and I'm sure some were on it), the music isn't that bad but a little on the dry repetitive side, drinks decor are all meh.
I will give it a big plus for being open till 5 unlike most clubs in Toronto. Overall, it's just not worth the cover.Listed in: Dance the Night Away

Footwork was a higher class, club level establishment, where cover was required and you needed to look tip top. I happened to meet some girls at 2Cats who was coming here and got in with them for free. The crowd was kind of mixed which is representative of Toronto. There is a big dance floor between two sides of the bar, along with tables towards one side. There is a also a fairly big smoking area towards the back. I came here on a Wednesday night so I think it was pretty crackin' considering. I did get a chance to meet a Korean girl who didn't much know how to speak Korean but that didn't matter. I also met an Indian girl there but her 'brothers' did not approve of my Asian heritage. So all in all, this place is not a dive bar but more of a clubbing venue that really has a diverse crowd. The music was good as well as the drinks. Decent Toronto experience.

Footwork is considered an afterhours bar but you don't have to wait until after 2 a.m. to go there. Most Fridays and Saturdays the place is packed. Usually Fridays are reserved for local talent and Saturdays are for international DJs. There of course are exceptions to this rule. The place does have a dungy feel to it but it is not as dirty as other places. There is no fancy dress code either required so you can leave the stilletos at home. In fact, you better drink your dancing shoes.
Drinks are cheaper before midnight and so is cover so why not come and enjoy a drink or two before the real party begins. The servers are very friendly and helpful.
There really is nothing else to add. If you are looking for a fun night dancing to house/techno music then Footwork is the place for you! -

The best nightclub in the city. When I miss London nightlife I head to Footwork.
The owners - who formerly managed an afterhours, have done a great job at keeping to their original mission statement; which was to create a destination for amazing music and top DJs.
Footwork reminds me a little of the club Neighborhood, near Noting Hill in London. (Or maybe even Shelter in NYC http://www.yelp.com/bi...) It's a decent size, but highly intimate. The regulars know each other and the international talent is unreal; Green Velvet, Miss Honey Dijon, DJ Heather - are but a few of the celebrity calibre DJs to grace the decks at Footwork.
While other clubs in the city are spending their dough on Pamela Anderson doppelganger bartenders and cheap interior design - Footwork puts its money where it matters by bringing in talent and quality music on a consistent basis. -

Afterhours bar, heard a lot about it before I went.
It's a great place with a very eclectic crowd. people just like to dance here. and they are nice.
You'll get some people who are crazy insane dancers that really know how to move- and it is absolutely amazing how the great dancers just jive towards eachother and kind of put on a spectavular show. Like, the type of kids that just like moving theur bodies to a good rhythm.
I like this place because it is a medium sized ish bar that plays good music, but its not a ridiculous warehouse (i.e. Guv).
And there isn't a heavy "pickup" vibe either. It's just a big pool of platonic love for people who like a good rhythm. -

ABSOLUTELYYY loveee this spot!
I was on Adelaide with a few girls and I'm not into too much of the pop scene. A friend told me about this place and walking up to it, looks shady. Actually - VERY SHADY.
however. . . .when you walk in, you feel the love right away. The love for drum and base. Boy did I feel the love.
Everyone is in the world of music and feel it to the bone.
I partied here with a few people from abroad and they absolutely loved it.
I highly recommend this place for trance heads and drum&bass lovers!, The DJ spins amazing old dubs too, which only keeps everyone pumped up. The energy is really positive.
The only downside is the room itself is TINY. The bathroom is TINY and awkwardly by the front exit/entrance door.
Also, to smoke you'd have to go the same way.
Still, people go for the music. Which is how it should be.
enjoy the beats! -
Review from Devan R.
Since May '05 Footwork has solidified their position as one of the top, if not the number one provider of electronic music in Toronto. To me the venue has grown to be larger than life as they consistently provide such insane music with such insane DJ's and an insane crowd. The vibe in Footwork at it's peak potential is something everyone should witness once in their life.
"Rehab Fridays" at Footwork boasts local DJ's who typically tear the club up. I've said it once and I'll say it again, Toronto is blessed to have the wealth of talented DJ's and producers along with the rich house scene that it does. On any given Friday or Saturday you can expect to hear local acts tear it up like DJ Nitin, Johnny White, YM, The Roaches, Jelo, Simon Jain, The Roaches, Sydney Blu, Tim Patrick, Deko-Ze, Jay Force, Alicia Hush, Anas Attia, James Teej, The Junkies, Talal & Zoi, Jon Jon and the list goes on and on, and on and on.
FW Saturdays let international DJ's take over the decks and I'm consistently floored by the caliber and frequency of international mega DJ's who visit footwork. Footwork has brought down House Monsters like DJ Hugo, Radioslave, Loco Dice, John Dahlback, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Green Velvet, Jay Haze, DJ Sneak, Cedric Gervais, DJ Heather, Paco Osuna, Gregor Treshor, Rene Amesz, Damian Lazarus, Peace Division, Funkagenda, Danny Howells, Chris Liebing, Mastiksoul, Green Velvet, Hugo, Hatiras, Shy FX, Honey Dijon and James Talk just to name 27.
Dope Dope spot in TO for the house music lovers. Daniel Steinberg coming 08/08/10 OH MANNNNNN -

It's okay. Nothing really extraordinary about it. The music is really good, which is what I love. But then again, I love techno, house, that kinda thing. I like that it's after hours as well ... I like to dance all night! It has a comfortable, casual vibe about it. I don't like dressing in heels to dance (sooo uncomfortable) so I'm okay in my usual attire. It's so small though. And crowded. And I like to sit down when I get tired and there are just no spots! All in all, it's decent, but there are other clubs I prefer. That being said, I'd definitely go here if there was a good DJ headlining or even just if all my friends wanted to go there one night. But I'm never going to be a regular.

footwork oftentimes has really amazing djs, but that's about it - the sound system is atrocious, the space is tiny and incredibly uncomfortable and there is no a/c so it gets extremely hot. and that's not even a matter of opinion. these are just facts about this place.
