Review from Marc D.
Vancouver, BC
* Decent quick Shanghai snack food *
This little stall in the middle of a very old school Chinese mall offers up Shanghai specialties galore.
I ordered one of my favourite Shanghai style dishes, the classic Shanghai fried rice cake with pork. It was priced fairly at $5.75. They did a respectable job, preparing it quickly, with a nice wok flavour. The meat was tender and the rice cakes were the right consistency. Overall a very decent rendition. In reality if this stall was anyplace else in North America beside Richmond BC I would probably give it 4 stars. But there is such an abundance of good Shanghainese food available in the area, that it is just 3 stars - I would eat there again if in the area, but wouldn't divert my course from some of my 4 star Shanghainese spots nearby.Listed in: Vancouver Chinese Food, Vancouver Dumplings

Review from Larry L.
Quick and dirty but tasty and lots of variety. This little mall just off Number 3 road right next to Parker Place is the kind of location that most, and many wouldn't not bother to stop and eat at. It reminded my friend of those low end food centers in Hong Kong The atmosphere, the smells and the echo as you walk down the hall.
Sounds a bit scary and it probably is for most westerners. If you want to get a feeling of authenticity, this this place. If you're daring, try the food.
If you like decent food at a good price, then you gotta try Shanghai Ting.
My last time here I had dumplings; Shanghai veggie dumplings, but there's a whole bunch of other items you can choose from. It's akin to a Baskin Robins, that doesn't have icecream and instead Shanghai cuisine. Oh! What's the similarity? None really unless you like hundreds of different flavours.
OK there's no comparison, but for me. I enjoy coming here to just get away, and soak in the foreign atmosphere when I'm feeling like I want to travel to a place far far away but can't afford to.
Typos' FOC by moi.
