This multicultural festival is the largest (approximately 400,000 attendees per year) and longest running on earth. It's being going for 41 years. The festival for 2011 has 23 pavillons the first week and another 23 the second. Each pavillon is located in a cultural center or public building located all over the city. The price of admission is only $6 per person and there are some cheaper "family packs" available.
There is usually a 45 minute cultural presentation such as dancing, music and singing. There are also a variety of local ethnic food and drinks available for purchase. Theare are also cultural displays. The Cuban for example had a lady rolling cuban cigars and of course selling them for $15. Great deal for a hand rolled cuban.
Over the last few day we attended seven pavillons and they were excellent. The ones we attended were the Indian, Cuban, German, Italian, Croatian, Brazilian, Portuguese and Greek where Nia Vardalis (from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was attending.
A great place to experience different cultures from around the globe for a ridiculously low price. Excellent Winnipeg, I'm proud of you! For more information go to http://www.folklorama.ca
