Great Food, Great ambience. Great Service. Crowded as to be expected. Average Prices. Well Worth checking out when in Victoria!!

Came here on a group-on deal. It would get two stars if it wasn't for the cool location. If you are a plane nut, it is work it for the views of the harbor air seaplanes.
As for the food, it was nothing amazing and bit overpriced for bar food. I was glad that I had the coupon because it would have been an unreasonable price for what I got. -

So there are three main reasons this place gets four stars. The first is the location, you are literally on the water. You look out at the float planes from the heart of the inner Harbour. Win.
Second, the staff. They were super friendly and attentive. Bonus.
Third, beer. The menu says they have Driftwood but they didn't they had some delicious fruity beer that made me very happy.
The patio is not really a patio. It is a patio in the sense that it isn't directly in the main part of the building but there is a permanent awning with plexiglas sides.
There were birds in the restaurant. I'm not normally one to be weirded out by birds in restaurants. But birds can crap in your food. End of story.
The decor isn't great. It almost has an awesome feel, but it's missing something.
Or maybe it was that everyone in there was 60+.
Either way I say check it! -

After a day of trudging around Vic and the inner harbour with my partner, we decided to try out Flying Otter to grab lunch.
I had the beef dip, and he had the fish and chips.
The beef dip is served with horseradish, onions and swiss cheese with au jus and choice of side... I ordered it without cheese and with fries. It was pretty good, nothing extraordinary. The au jus was full of flavor and complimented the sandwich.
My partner's fish and chips were two huge slabs of cod, lightly breaded and fried to a perfect golden brown. Again, nothing extraordinary and it was pretty good.
Overall, it's your standard bar/pub fare, with descent service. Our server was pretty attentive the entire visit.
What sets Flying Otter apart is that it's on the same dock as Harbour Air, and you get a fantastic view of the planes landing, docking, and departing.
We'll definitely come back again. -

What's the best way to celebrate Canada Day? Well watching fireworks over the water with a bunch of locals having a brewski of course!
Wandering through the crowds of white and red, we stumbled on to the Flying Otter... Like others said, it is a bit hidden which ensures it's off the tourist path. The menu had a wide range of food for any takers... even 3 types of fish for fish-n-chips! All locally caught each day. I had the linguine which was DELICIOUS... 3 days later and I'm still craving it. Try the Caesar cocktail (or virgin, just as delicious)... it's like a summer/lighter version of a bloody Mary. The hubster had the ahi tuna salad and said it was one of the 'freshest, best dressed salads" he's ever had.
The staff is really friendly and the local patrons even more friendly. We ended up spending the majority of our evening here, just having a good time! -

This is a bar that also serves food. At first we were going to sit on the deck/patio, but the smell of plane exhaust and drone of the engines did not enhance my dining experience. We ended up moving inside where it was louder.
My daughter had a French dip with decent au jus and French fries with BBQ seasoning. I had grilled prawns on salad with loads of creamy mango dressing. I also had a banana mojito and blueberry ginger mojito. There was little liquor in the drinks, but they were relative bargains. -

Since we had to catch the ferry and didn't really have time to escape the confines of the touristy habour our last day in Victoria, we decided on this place. It was a little hard to find (there is a small sign on the street pointing down to the seaplane dock) but once we found it we sure were glad we'd chosen this nice little establishment.
We were promptly seated outside, and served. They have a great selection of sammiches, apps, and others. We eagerly ordered poutine to start, and I ordered a black & blue chicken sammich.
The poutine arrived in short order and the four of us dug right in. It was magnificent. For those that don't know what poutine is, I will share a link with you..

That ought to help. But don't get turned off by the description, you HAVE to order it, especiall from here. It was SO TASTY! Their fries are excellent, the cheese curds were perfect, the gravy on the bottom was crazy delicious, and the heaps of bacon and onions on top were the perfect topping.
My chicken sammich came shortly after and it was ENORMOUS! So much bleu cheese, toppings, chicken, and the side salad was beautiful. It looked like a tropical rain forest on my plate... quite beautiful honestly. I began chowing down and could not finish due to the sheer magnitude of what I was encountering. But it was delicious.
All-in-all, I highly recommend you visit this spot if you're not going to try to escape the touristy confines of the harbour. -

My friend had a short wish list for our Victoria visit, and fish & chips was one of her must-dos. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with the fish & chips, which were lightly battered (nice!) but rather bland. However, the seafood chowder and especially the garlic bread that came with it, was awesome and redeemed the other food. My friend seemed to enjoy the crab cakes she ordered, although I didn't find them that exciting.
Service was good, and the restaurant is right on the water (literally--we were on a floating dock). They have an enclosed patio type seating area with excellent heaters, so we were able to enjoy eating 'outside' in the freezing cold. The view of the water is fun, especially if you are lucky enough to see the planes coming and going. -

Decent food, great view of the harbour
We always grab a bite here when waiting for a seaplane to Vancouver. Great pub food, excellent view of the planes as they take off and land. -

Quite good food, pleasant staff but noisy as it attracts high-testosterone male clients. View at sunset can't be beat and then there are the float planes to amuse the "boys".
They cheerfully replaced the "seasonal vegetable". Asparagus may be in season in Peru right now but not in BC--and it should never be served when it is tough as cardboard. -

This is a great place to grab a bite to eat. If you are fortunate, you may even get a table with views of the water. We went on Thursday night based on the recommendation of local street vendor. They have daily specials and Thursday is Steak night. The restaurant is small so it took about 30 minutes to get a table. Our waitress did a good job and we were even surprised when she remembered to our special requests as she worked to serve all the tables around us. Everyone agreed that the calamari was the best they had eaten in a while. On the downside, the appetizer came quickly but, our main dishes took a long time to arrive. So, if you are in a hurry, you may want to try another place.

We were having lunch here in-between seaplane and whale watching tours so we were a bit crunched for time. The service was friendly from the bartender but the waitress was a bit rude. I really liked the putine(sp?) and the BC salmon wrap was very tasty.

We came on the perfect day - completely clear and sunny - which is great for this little place which is in the float plane terminal right on the water. We had a hankering for beer and fish and chips - the halibut was soooo good. It does get a little bit loud when the planes land and take off, and it is a small place, but a nice find (it's hard to find too - just remember it's in the float plane terminal). Oh, and their bathrooms are nice, important when you are drinking lots of beer. :)

I came here twice. Once for adult beverages in the evening and once for breakfast. Breakfast was good tasting and good value (bacon, sausage, potatoes). Mostly bennys for breakfast (bennys is Canadian for eggs benedict I have learned). What I love about this place is the view- Victoria Harbor and seaplanes- and the fireplace. Not to menton it has a great deck.
