Flo Tea Richmond  is located where once Ginger & Garlic Malaysian Restaurant and Grill and Honolulu Café used to operate. Across from Richmond Centre the restaurant is spacious with booth seats and tables. Unfortunately parking isn't the most convenient and if you don't arrive before noon, good luck!

They still serve a lot of the Malaysian food they had from Ginger & Garlic, in addition to Szechuan, mix-and-match combos, and even claypot rice. They have a lot of snacks and a gimmicky Herro Flo combo where you choose your flavour of mayo to be served alongside Crispy Salt and Pepper Chicken and Fries. This is not your typical Taiwanese bubble tea café as you would imagine it to resemble Pearl Castle or Leisure; instead they offer a bit of everything.

Again, I am here at Flo during a busy lunch hour to have catch up with my friend Kathy. While waiting for her I pre-ordered the Chinese mushroom and chicken claypot rice. Please note that this takes approx. 20 mins to prepare, so give yourself plenty of time or even call ahead so it is ready when you arrive!

The portion was quite generous as you can easily serve 4 bowls of rice. Best to share because I ended up packing more than half to go. One thing to watch up for when eating this chicken pot rice is that there are a lot of small broken bones - perhaps the knife skills or the knife itself requires some sharpening! If you find yourself craving claypot rice, you can always head over to James Snack  for the juicier version.

Kathy ordered the Black Bean Chicken Chow Mein. This came very quick and the noodles were crispy. The sauce itself could use a little more flavouring. This was more than enough for one person and she also had lunch for the next time!

Black Sesame milk tea, served in a to-go cup with lots of black sesame, but not milky enough. Typically I like to visit Flo on Granville St, I find that their hot almond milk tea is rich and tastiest. I think if the Richmond location can make some minor adjustments it can be a lot more.

So for an HK style cafe, I still like this place.  But I found this old receipt and it's still the same!  10% tips is good, 15% tips is Generous  Thank You Very Much!! Please Come Again!  OMG! Sounds like a friend of mine.  Is this how typical Asians have become?

Still, their lunch specials are darn good for the buck you pay.

And I was able to get some drinks that had no sugar in them.  Even steamed veggies with oyster sauce on the side, if you ask.

That tip thing still gets me bothered.  It reminded me of when restaurants were automatically charging you 15% during the Olympics. Now don't get me started on that!

So this last time it was a 4 stars, but that little quote they have has just got to go!

Flo Tea Room in Vancouver has always been a favourite place of mine so I was pretty happy when it opened up in Richmond.

I finally got a chance to try it out. The problem with the location of this place is that parking is super limited. In fact, when I went they actually had a parking lot attendant to give you an ETA of the parking wait time.

Inside, they have renovated the place a bit to make it newer than its previous tenant, Ginger and Garlic. Their menu is essentially the same as the location in Vancouver, with mini Flo meals available all day.

I got my usual baked meat sauce with chicken spaghetti, and added $2.00 for a red bean slush to my meal.

To me, the spaghetti is not as good as I've had it before, but the red bean slush was awesome. The perfect blend of red bean and milk, and just enough sweetness so that the flavor of the red bean is still there, and blended with just enough ice to keep the drink from being too watery. I was very impressed.

I'll definitely be back for the red bean drink alone.

This is the same Flo as Granville but the menu is unlike that of the Flo Tea in Vancouver. I found the food was much better than the other one, however, the parking lot is suck!

It mixes HK style cafe and Taiwanese meals.  We came here for lunch and found the portion of food and bubble tea were pretty good.

Curry beef brisket - curry taste rich and strong and beef brisket very tender
Pork chop, ham and egg spaghetti - quite blend but ok.
Prawn and spinach penne in creamy sauce - so creamy and delicious
Taiwan style Chicken nugget with fries - chicken pretty juicy and crispy.

The service was fine but a bit slow.

A bit below average Hk style restaraunt.  Same quality is ginger&garlic.  Come for the cheap late nights (fried pork buns & a drink for less than 5 dollars!)

This restaurant took over the old space of Spice House, and Honolulu Cafe prior. It's the standard HK style cafe fare in terms of menu and pricing. However, the quality is a bit lower than what I have experienced from KamDo or others alike. The set dinner I ordered was beef steak and skwered prawns with rice on a pepper sauce. The beef was chewy, prawns with shell made it very difficult to eat, and the pepper sauce has no spiciness at all. The only redeeming factor is the nice decor and comfortable seating. And fairly efficient and friendly service.

I have yet to eat at this location and only had bubble tea. I purchased a fantastic deal through red pocket with the price of only $2 including pearls!! I am a bbtea fanatic so needless to say this was heaven. You give your voucher and get a special stamp card that fills at 10 for the prepaid $20. I ordered a lychee coconut smoothie with mango jelly for hubby and passion fruit mango smoothie with pearls for me. Not sure what makes it a smoothie other than a slush style. The menu is big so there are lots of choices to choose from for my many, many bbteas to go. The parking looks tiny because the spots are designated. The inside is small but the decor is quite modern. The bbtea is usually good, but this time around it was a bit watery for my liking. The service is good, although a bit slow but that may have been because lunch time gets busy.
