Eversince I was able to chew food I've been coming here. It's legit because my fave waitress has watched me grow up in her 20 years working there! My family and I generally come here for dinners and not dim sum so I'll speak for the dinner side of this restaurant.

First off, the service it great and recently it's nice to hear them speak English too! That way I don't feel so sad with my Chinglish. The entrees are always fresh and given in good portions for your family of 5, 10, 15..!

My favourites are the Sesame Chicken Salad   http://www.yelp.ca/biz...   A delicious combination of shredded tender chicken, bouncy jelly fish, fresh julienned cucumber, and pickled vegetables all tossed in a semi-sweet vinegarette and seseame seeds. If I could, I'd eat that 10 serving sized dish all by myself!

All of their meat, seafood and vegetable dishes are yummy. I don't think I've ever tried anything that wasn't good.

Note: A super super SUPER delicious dessert for dinner is their baked tapioca red bean pudding! It has to be ordered early on for them to have enough time to make it and bake it but boy is the wait and extra money worth it! A hot, sweet tapioca custard like dessert with the balanced sweetness of red bean on the bottom is a hot mess of delicious combination for your tastebuds.

Overall, lovely family environment to enjoy some good ol' chinese yumminess.

That's for the food, but a bit higher for the decor.  This has been like a rock considering the in's and out's of so many chinese restos.

Just went there for old-time's sake for the dim sum, for its area without driving to Richmond, what the hay.  At least you don't have to fight for parking.  Though it's just nice on the westside, can even go for a walk along Winona Park in the back.

Ordered the regular as I admit, I'm a boring person when it comes to dim sum.

The shrimp, chicken feet, & the shrimp egg noodles.

Yum yum, dim sum. Went for sum dim sum with Mum...okay, I'm done.

Anyways, I used to hit up the Flamingo on Fraser Street every once in a while when I was a kid, and my family was sad to see that it closed. But the Cambie location is essentially the same, except at ground level. I was in town last week and my mom and I decided to have a little dim sum before getting mani/pedis...perfect visit!

The food is good - like I said I've been going here forever so I haven't had much other dim sum experience, but I love the shrimp dumplings and sticky rice.

The service is not great, but who cares? You don't need great service, it's dim sum.

I enjoy it, I think it's tasty, and it reminds me of being a kid.

OH SNAP! Ive been coming here since i was a little kid!

Always busy, even to this day! and the food is fantastic! I can only testify on the dim sum and the testimonial reads "Killer Dope!!" fresh tasting, bursting with flavor and very satisfying!

So why only 4 stars?  The parking kinda blows if you come 15 mins after opening!.... fair warning....

After one dinner here it was obvious why Flamingo has been around Vancouver for years. The place was packed on a Saturday, yet the dishes came out all fresh, piping hot, and most of all, extremely tasty. I am partial to the gai lan and also this bowl of tofu cakes, and I swear if I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life it would be the tapioca. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of the ambience. I found dinnertime to be too crowded as in suck-in-your-stomach to walk between tables, plus it was very loud. I'm not in the neighbourhood much, however the next time I am and if I have the cash, I know where I'll go for a bite to eat.

I've been going here for as long as they've been open. This is my family's fave. Excellent variety and consistent quality. We order some more traditional and some more Western dishes. Try the lettuce wrap. Also, at dim sum, peanut dumplings.

I appreciate the factory-like speed of some Chinese restaurants. But when your order arrives within 1 min, you gotta wonder what's ahead for your stomach.

Ordered some standard dim sum items, all sucked. They must've nuked them. Maybe even twice. Soggy, tasteless, old. To call this place McD-like dim sum would be a compliment.

Local food hut for the city neighbourhood diners.
Can't go wrong with their fresh daily dimsum variety and dinner.
It can get pretty busy so we tend to come during the non-peak hours - we like quiet dining environment.
Oysters and Peking duck, lettuce wrap....gailan with garlic..spicy prawns...yummm.

This restaurant has been around for ages (I believe 30+!) and for good reason. They're consistent and to the older generation a go to for dim sum.

Rumor has it they are still one of the few restaurants in town that make all their dim sum themselves.

In case you weren't aware, a lot of restaurants get their dim sum items all from the same place and simply cook it up from its frozen state.

In addition to dim sum, I'm sure many have experienced here a banquet or some other similar function. Their execution of the various dishes is dependable and consistently top notch in taste.

One thing I love here is the lettuce wrap. Most places get the duck stuffing incredibly gross. Dry and chewy like someone shaved brown sponges onto a dish.

Here it's moist without being wet and full of juicy flavor.  Try it!

Come to this chinese restaurant for Peking duck, seafood, and baked tapioca dessert! These are definitely the highlights.

The Peking duck here comes with the crepes (vs. the little buns), and they're square! It looks great, and the texture of these crepes are about perfect. Thin enough, but still with great 'elasticity' - it's hard to describe in english. Be sure to ask them to make a soup out of the duck bones. This is delicious.

Seafood here is also terribly fresh. The prawns are huge, and can be cooked as is. All you have to do is peel them and enjoy. The clam is also delicious where they serve it sort of raw, sort of cooked. Add it to the hot pepper soy sauce, and it's fantastic.

And last but not least, the baked tapioca/red bean dessert. This is one of my favorite desserts ever. It's like a tapioca pudding on top of red bean paste, and then baked. This has to be ordered in advance though, so be sure to call a day before.

I also ate other stuff too, but the dishes i listed above are by far the only ones that i remember=)

Had a family gathering here and it was pretty good. The food was good and the service was decent. The atmosphere in the place leaves something to be desired, but generally good stuff.  They never rushed us out and treated everyone well in our large party.

The cod over tofu dish was excellent, best dish of the night.

    Overall a good experience

Have frequented this location for many years...usually go in a group of 8 or more.  This location is in the middle of a nice residential area with no other businesses around so it is quiet.  They have a small parking lot which wraps around the back & side.

The latest time 12 of us went for lunch.  We had a banquet style variety of dishes including crab which as always was flavorful & fresh.  Every dish was good.

We always get great service, but I must disclose my brother-in-law has been friends with the owners for many years.  At least 1 member of the owning family is usually at the restaurant.

Langara Golf Course, is a very short walk away so this is a convenient place to have a before or after round meal.

Excellent chinese food both for dim sum and the 10 course chinese family dinners. I recently went for a family gathering and loved every dish! The service is excellent as well. We had peking duck as mentioned and this is one of the few places that have a different bread option, which is what I actually had in Beijing! It's a bit more filling but I love it. The lettuce wrap was just as good. The ambiance is nice, the price is decent, and the food is absolutely yummy. This location has been here as long as I can remember. There is ample parking with 2 lots and street parking. I live very close by and frequent here often and hope to continue for many many years to come!

Solidly good Chinese banquet style food. The Peking duck and crab dishes truly rocked my taste buds. The warm tapioca and red bean custard dessert was unique and not overly sweet. A perfect way to end a 12 course meal!

Flamingo Beef Tenderloin, Crab in Black Bean Sauce and Lemon Breast of Chicken. It is worth the trip to Vancouver just to eat these dishes.
