While I like the Burgers, I think waiting 20 minutes for a single burger before the lunch rush is a bit much. Looking at the line up right now some people will be here for at least 45 minutes before getting to eat.

This place makes great burgers and the cajun fries are amazing. Overall everything is great quality and is well priced for what you get. Don't expect fast food prices here cause you're gonna be spending about $13/person at least for a standard meal... but its sooo worth it.

I must get my car steering checked, driving west on Wye Road this afternoon and car took over and swerved into the parking lot of Five Guys Burgers & Fries, in shock I stumble into the restaurant. Forgetting my diet (wait what diet?), I order a burger & regular fries.
This was 1230 during the lunch rush, four in front of me, great a long wait, but no my order was in took about 2-3 minutes from arrival until I was at my seat with my complement peanuts. In a very short time, had not even finished my peanuts, was that Oder 77 that was called out, can't be, I still have nuts to eat. But my order was ready, a hamburger to die for, the fresh made fries yummmmm, only complaint about fries, no order size smaller then regular, but I did manage to fight through the order. If you are a burger guy/gal let your vehicle swerve in like mine did, you will not regrets. -

Great place for burgers and beware, their fries are delish..but I suggest sharing them, the portion is huge!
I found the staff to be friendly and truly love their job! it was refreshing to see that a fast food place didnt have people behind the counter who looked like they did not want to be there.
Great addition to the busy South Common area:)
Will be visiting again soon! -

Wow. I was really impressed with the taste of the burgers and fries at Five Guys. They stand head and shoulders above other fast food joints in Edmonton (and area).
I went to In 'N' Out when I was in Vegas, loved it, and was talking to a friend about wishing we had them here. She said the closest thing was Five Guys, and she was right!
I went on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm, and it was busier than I expected it to be. There seemed to be a little bit of organized chaos going on behind the counter, but they must have their system down. Our food came pretty quickly.
Now, all the burgers come with two patties as the standard, so if you only want one, order the 'little (burger name)'. I had a little bacon burger, my husband had a regular sized bacon burger, we and shared large cajun fries - everything came to $18. Holy moly, yum. Just delicious. Kind of indescribable, actually, which is a little funny for a fast food burger. It was just so fresh and juicy and actually tasted like something, rather than a slab of cardboard with ketchup on it. The cajun fries were nice, too, although I still want to try the regular fries sometime. Even though I got a little burger, I still couldn't finish it!
I wish there was a Five Guys in Edmonton, but for now I'll have to settle for hitting this one up when I'm in ShPk. Sure it's more expensive than "regular" fast food, but it's also way tastier. -

I'm all for a good burger, in fact, I love a good burger. So, being that a new burger joint opened in the Park recently, I was excited to try it.
I have to say, I was a little disappointed after the hype I'd heard about this chain. They're opening businesses all over the place, including Calgary, but I'm not totally satisfied with what we experienced here.
I do have to give the business kudos for moving customers through efficiently. We arrived at around 6:00 PM on a Saturday evening and there was a substantial line-up. Even though the lineup was large, we still moved through ordering and getting our meal (take-out) in under 15 minutes.
The restaurant was clean and bright, with tons of staff working on at least 12 different stations - all in plain view of the patrons. Everything looked nice and clean.
On to the food. Both my girlfriend and I ordered double patty burgers with all the fixin's (lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, etc.). I had mushrooms, cheese and bacon on mine, my girlfriend had just cheese. The burgers tasted good, but I was frustrated from the start. The bun was WAY too small to contain all the burger inside. I ended up eating the last part of the burger with a fork as it had slopped all over my plate. The bun needs a serious re-design. The rest of the ingredients, including modest patties made from what looked like freshly ground beef were quite good.
Now, this chain claims to have some of the "best fries in America." Sadly, I wouldn't know. They fry their potatoes in peanut oil and I'm allergic. I know I shouldn't find this frustrating, but I do. With all the people out there who enjoy fries and a good number of them who are allergic to peanuts, this seems like a problem to me. But I guess I shouldn't feel slighted... I am in the minority on this one.
In summary, our experience was just OK. Service was friendly, burger was tasty, but really needed a better bun and not being able to have fries was a let-down. Time will tell if we give them another try. -

I'm really impressed with this place. I was wanting a decent burger and was settling for A&W when I spotted this place and decided to give it a try. The food was really good. I love their fries and the cheese burger was enormous! It was way too much food for just me.
As for service, the people were pleasant, it was busy (to be expected as I was there at 12:15 on a Friday lunch hour) but I was out of there by 12:45 and there were 22 orders in front of me...
I recommend this joint for sure. -

5Guys is fast food, done slower... and better.
The regular burger is actually a double, and the "little" burger is a single.
There is nothing fancy about these burgers, so if you think you're going for some gourmet burger you should just turn around and maybe go see the folks at The Next Act, or talk to Chef Cowan at Hundred Bar and Kitchen.
This thing is juicy and cheesy. Just the way I like it.
And it isn't pretty. It actually looks a mess by the time i've finished loading stuff onto it. But it tastes good.
Really good.
It's greasy in a way that you know is wrong, but oh so right. Just don't eat 3 a week and you'll be fine.
You can top these bad boys with any amount of toppings from the huge selections, and I dare you to leave still hungry. At $7.50, it comes in right in between fast food burgers and sit down restaurant burgers.
The fries are a bit hit and miss here. Everywhere I've had them in the states, they are awesome. Here? They're about 50-50.
It's worth checking them out, and just FYI.... it's BYOD.

I have read many reviews online (On other sites) about Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and after eating there several times I am surprised by so many people saying it wasn't as good as they hoped, or that it was too expensive. I can't imagine the majority of people that like burgers not liking these. I guess the 27 person line up at 11:40 am on a weekday (In spite of it being 2 or more times the price of other places) speaks for itself about the taste.
I had the little bacon cheeseburger with only mustard and ketchup, and a small fries. I loved it!! The fries are like a real fish and chip shop fry.
I can see the size of the bun being a problem for those who like loaded burgers-eating while driving is not an option here. The burgers don't fare very well after being wrapped in real tin foil. They are very messy as they put ketchup on both sides of the bun, but I didn't find them greasy at all.
As far as the price goes, I would expect to pay a premium for fries and patties that are made in store, by hand, by staff earning between 10-14.00 an hour (According to their hiring posts). Imagine how much cheaper machine cut fries and machine formed patties would be.
There were 12 people on staff this morning, so It does seem a little slow considering the simple menu.
This place is already a hit, it isn't going away any time soon. It just doesn't really fit in with all the other burger joints where you can have a combo for lunch for 6 dollars or so. -

The best hands down burger joint in the Edmonton area!!!! My boyfriend and I tried it out yesterday- all I can say it blew both of us away! It was fantastic...the portions are very BIG! We shared regular fries which was more then enough for the both of us. He had a regular bacon cheeseburger, which is 2 patties and a ton of toppings that are FREE! I had a little cheeseburger that was a single patty and again a ton of toppings if you so wish!
They also have a nice touch of peanuts available to customers that are complimentary.
I would say it was reasonably prices for what you get.
This place is better then Fulton Burger and Fat Burger! Although they don't have milkshakes. :( -

Although on the pricier side of fast food with a bacon cheeseburger costing $8.49, regular fries at $3.49 and a regular drink at $1.99, the food itself is quite good. Regular burgers are actually 2 beef patties so they are larger then a normal burger and you can customize it with anything you want at no extra cost (i added grilled onions and mushrooms to mine)
Although I waited to receive the food, it was quite fast for how busy it was. The restaurant itself has a pretty cool vibe to it, with text snippets from reviewers plastered across the walls, big bags of french fries separating the seating from the order line and free peanuts to snack on while you wait.
I will for sure be going back for more. -

Why would I drive 25 minutes to a burger joint on a Saturday night? Why did the chicken cross the road? To order the best burger from a fast food outlet. Fresh, fast, and tasty. Great value considering what the other fast food burger joints offer. It's more expensive than a In and Out burger but you get more burger. The concept is the same, a limited menu and cooked right in front of you as you wait.

Gotta say - not too sure what all the hype is about with this place? To me, my experience was extremely average. Burgers are very fresh and there are lots of free toppings to choose from. Sides are huge and there are free peanuts! The price compliments the quality/quantity of the food well. Decor is neat, place is clean- but the walls plastered with raving reviews of the place is a little cornball to me. If your looking to sit down with some friends and have a decent burger at a fair price this is a good choice.

I don't often just go out for burgers, but if I ever do again, I'll be happy to consider this place.
Very busy on a Saturday evening around 7:00pm. Lots of families dining in and many folks just getting a bag to go. It was kind of noisey.
It's more like "Nine Guys & Gals" running around like crazy, but they're getting the job done. Trying to keep all the tables clean is not easy when you see all the shrapnel falling out of this burger. Not a place to bring a first date if you want to look cool. You will be covered in mayo and toppings.
The burger is as close to homemade as I've ever had. I would omit the cheese on my next visit as it is a slice of processed grossness. The fries are really nice, and I wish I had tried the Cajun spice, but be warned, they are cooked in peanut oil.
Overall, a bit higher than Mc*******, but who cares. It's real food.
I had trouble finding the franchise name as it is usually listed as:
"Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries". -

The Hubs and I have been to 5 Guys a couple of times while vacationing in the States, and were thrilled when one finally opened up that we didn't need a plane ticket to visit.
The menu is simple...there are burgers (with or without cheese) and there are fries (normal or cajun). There is also a grilled cheese and a veggie sandwich (I think) to appease non-meat eaters.
The burgers are fresh and juicy (the standard burger is a double, a single patty is called a "little"), and so yummy. They have a ton of fresh toppings that you can add to your burger free of charge - but remember the more you add, the harder it is to eat. I get grilled onions and mushrooms, and its certainly appreciated to have an option above raw white onions.
The fries are also really really good. And again, a big size - a regular will easily feed 2 people - and fried golden brown.
Everything is cooked fresh upon ordering, so its not an immediate turnover like most fast food chains - but the wait is definitely worth it (and there are bins of peanuts in the shell that you can help yourself to while you wait.).
5 Guys is a great addition to the burger landscape, and has become our go-to place when the alwasy-inevitable burger craving creeps up. -

Wow. Simply wow. Fantastic food, fantastic staff, and a decent price. It's almost on par with "In and Out" in the states. Friend and I went in, we where helped with the menu and how things work instantly. We waited maybe five minutes for our food, and the wait was worth it. We quickly learned NOT to order the large fries again. The portions are HUGE for what you pay for. The establishment is very clean as well, including the washrooms. Even the music, although a little on the loud side, fits the atmosphere perfectly. I will be back, that much is sure. I just have to make sure my stomach is empty enough!

I was very excited when my friend told me they had opened a Five Guys in Sherwood Park. I developed my love for this place in recent trips to Washington, DC and Phoenix, AZ. Visited this location for the first time in late Feb and was pleased it is just like the US ones I've visited complete with the bags of potatoes and bottles of peanut oil on display as well as the peanuts that you can grab and snack on while you wait. I ordered a cheeseburger (not the "mini" I typically get) and found out that the regular cheeseburger actually has 2 health beef patties. I like how you can pick toppings like caramelized onions, fried mushrooms, etc. In addition, I love that you don't need to order more than regular fries since they dump a whole bunch of fries into your bag after they have filled your container of fries. So I supposed I've established the portions are generous but the food tastes great too! Burgers juicy and you pick your toppings/sauce. Fries are fresh cut, crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside. Love Five Guys and will be back soon!
