Five Guys is a solid classic burger joint. Nothing fancy about, just great burgers, decent fries, sodas and peanuts in the shell.
I go out of my way to find great burgers and this is up there! Top 5 for sure! -
Review from Cody S.
A bacon cheeseburger with everything here is my favourite burger in Canada. There is nothing close to the atmosphere and delicious quality that they have at Five Guys. From the moment you walk in you easily notice the stacks of potatoes.....they turn those into massive piles of french fry goodness pretty quickly. I really don't know if any one person can eat as many fries as they give you.....imagine a large sack filled with fries.....now imagine even more fries then you just imagined. This is truth, friends. The burgers were more than delicious.....really happy they don't use frozen meat.
This is the closest burger one can get to the classic In-And-Out godly deliciousness in Southern California. I will be back again and again. -

So Yum! I have to say the system they have going on in these joints is a good one. They call out how many people are coming in the door to how many patty's need to be grilled. They also have a girl cleaning the tables who still keeps an eye out for who is entering the door to ensure she is back at the register to take the order.
Put in your order, grab your bevy (free refills), get some peanuts and enjoy. By the time you are finished your peanuts your burger and fries will be ready to consume.
Now when going here keep in mind 2 people can easily share a regular fries. They fill up the container and then just keeping dumping more in the bag. Pleny to share. The burgers are good and such tasty buns. Mmm mm good.
Also, keep in mind that Five Guys Burger and Fries places a close second to In -n- Out burger but so does not come near to their delicousness. As there is no In-n-Out this far north I am one happy camper going to Five Guys Burger and Fries any chance I get.
Great location when heading to the US. Perfect for a quick stop before hitting the border or heading home after crossing back into Canada. If you are heading into the US you may also want to check out their location in Bellingham. -

Two things to know right away: don't come here if you have a peanut allergy - they use peanut oil used to cook the fries and offer free peanuts for "appetizers." Definitely do come here if you are HUNGRY - between the free refills on pop, ridiculously large sized fries (and I think I ordered a small - to share!) and burgers loaded with all the toppings you can handle ... it takes eating-champ stamina to finish a meal. Best to bring a friend with a similarly healthy appetite and calorie-share.
I loved that outside of bacon and cheese, you could choose as many toppings on your burger as you like. None of this chintzy, 50c apiece for this, 1.00 for that business. The burger patty itself was very good - tasted just the way Dad makes it. (Have I used that one before? If I have, it's only because my Dad is a very good cook, and he got that way because he grew up cooking on a fishing boat for a crew of very hungry men. And he makes a mean burger because of it.) I only think that the burger could have done with a bigger, crispier bun to hold it all together.
Though I enjoyed the food very much, I have to ask, what is with the bragging-themed decor? I know your burgers are delicious guys, that's why I'm sitting here eating one. Take it easy with the "Greatest burger ever!" quotes from the Dubuque Sun-Times or whatever, 1999.Listed in: Surrey. Yes, Surrey.

Meh. Of all the times I have eaten at Five Guys (never this one) - I always had the yummiest burger. I think the Americans just do burgers better.
This place? Bun was cold. My cheese wasn't MELTY (not hot enough?), and the mushrooms WERE CANNED..and the other thing? Way more expensive. The canadian dollar is so hot right now, so why are you charging more for a burger I can get for $2 or $3 less in the Bellingham?
Mm hmm, I got your number. I mean.. I ate the burger, but I wouldn't come back to this location. -

Burgers are world class. Maybe better than Vera's. Definitely one of the best of the best. Fries are amazing. Hojme made style . Don't order a large fries. Too big for one.

They did a very good job of promoting this place and getting some "Hype" about it going. However, next time, I think I'll head across the parking lot to Original Joe's, since it'll cost me about the same.
Don't get me wrong, the burger was good (I had a Bacon Cheeseburger with everything) and they gave me a TON of fries along with it...probably enough for 3 people, but I think for the price...My burger and fries came to $15 and change...I would much rather enjoy a burger at OJ's.
If they were to lower the price to around the $10 mark, I think I'd be a lot more interested in going back, but as it is, I feel it's a tad expensive for what it is. They do make a decent hamburger though... -

Seriously great tasting burgers! I got the double cheeseburger with nearly everything on it. The fries reminded me of ones served at a baseball stadiums. The quality and price of the burgers beats out Vera's Burgers any day!

Sorry... seems to be a take off of IN n OUT burgers in the US, though much more expensive and not as tasty. Not sure what it was, but their burgers did not measure up, nor did their fries. I hear people raving about this place but honestly, we thought the meat had a lot of gristle & the bun was cold. We gave it an honest try but won't be back.

Ask me what I did on my birthday?
ATE BURGERS AT FIVE GUYS!!!
Actually it was more about showing visting UK friends what American style food is like in comparison with the Canadian eating experience... but since their passports didn't allow a scoot over to Bellingham, Five Guys in South Surrey it was.
They have nailed the USA spirit look and feel and most importantly taste perfectly. We LOVED our burgers, and my British friends impressed by ordering a double with everything... holy god.
Love this spot, and it is in the middle of MEGA shopping... which is also a personal favourite.
If I save up calories maybe I can go back next year and roll around in their fries. -

My man, who recently completed the 10x10 challenge at the In-n-Out Burger (he's *that* crazy about his burgers), took me here on a night where neither of us could fathom cooking. Oh my god. Thick, juicy, not overcooked burgers. Burgers can be easily overcooked when being careful (see Red Onion's). And the toppings you could add were just want I wanted, and not a whole lot of what I didn't need (like Vera's - where I'm just never going to need to order the guacamole).
The fries were great - you really don't need more than one regular order for two people.
Warning - do not go here if you have a peanut allergy. They fry the fries in peanut oil, there are peanuts to snack on before your order is up, etc. There's even a sign on the door asking people not to take peanuts with them (ie not to leave the shells outside) due to allergies of neighbourhood children.
The place reminded me of the awesome burgers at Fuddruckers I used to have as a kid. -

Great location, very clean, new burger house, with very quick and pleasant service...
I would recommend for any burger aficionado to give this place a try. Fries where great and a huge portion - my GF and I split a large and left lots... Burgers were very fresh and meaty, cheese was very good also. The fried onions and mushrooms as standard condiments was a nice plus for those who like those things. Tomatoes and pickles are my favs and both were both very fresh and unique pickle.
I'll be back again and again - but not often as I need to save up each time I go... on the pricey side... -

Great burgers
I love a good Burger and 5 guys do a really good burger fries are great maybe a little over salted but good huge portion of fries 1 for 2 or 3 people is defiantly adequate just had small burgers (single patty) great size will be back there again soon in my top 5 burgers ( yet to try vera's) -

Despite my three-star rating I liked Five Guys. It's not cheap -- my burger, fries, and drink came out to over $13. There were so many fries there's no way I could have finished them all, so with two people, one could easily split the fries.
Speaking of the fries, they were over-cajun'ed. I liked the soggy nature of the fries that some others have mentioned but the cajun seasoning was too strong.
The burger did have a very thick slice of processed cheese on it which was actually pretty good.
Inevitably 5GB&F will be likened to a stalwart: How does it compare to our local favourite, Vera's? Well, I like the patties better and the buns at 5G. Toppings and sauces, the edge goes to Vera's. I also prefer the Five Guys fries to Vera's.
Five Guys is very reminiscent of Fatburger and I'd say they're quite similar. Overall we're pretty spoiled for choice here in Surrey as far as burgers go! Ideally, though, there would be a local, non-chain drive-in style burger joint with girls on rollerskates. That I'd pay to see. -

Great burgers. I have had 20 or so since this place opened. Come to think of it, that seems like a lot.
I started with: mayo, mustard, raw onions, pickles and now I copy my daughter: mayo ketchup. As long as the buns are fresh that day these are awesome. -

Ok, I am totally converted! This is my favorite burger place in the lower mainland. I still like Vera's and Moderne Burger, but, they are not as good as Five Guys! The quality, the quantity of food, it is unbelievable. If you like burgers, do yourself a favor and get to Five Guys!

I thoroughly enjoy eating cheeseburgers. I'm like the real life Randy (except for the greasiness) and not in an abusive relationship... ANYWAY... Moving on the burgers are delicious. They are decent for a franchised chain restaurant. The only real complaint about their cheeseburgers is they use processed cheese.

My boyfriend and I tried 5 Guys in South Surrey for the first time today...we will be back. Busy place and I can see why. The burgers were fantastic. Fresh, great quality beef, perfectly cooked. Lots of condiments to choose from. Fries were great too...and a large means a large! The service was friendly and fast. Not cheap...but worth the extra.

I love American style, drive through burgers. They're deliberately different from the restaurant style burgers you would get at say DB Bistro, Cactus Club, etc. These burgers are sloppy, melt in your mouth, artery clogging, goodness. They're also not the same as McDicks, Wendy's, or Burger King...which aren't technically edible imo.
My favourite, hands down, is the double double animal style from In-n-out burger. But they refuse to open up a location more than 200 miles from their meat processing plant. Their meat is 100% fresh, never frozen. Why do I mention this? Because Five Guys is similar though they have 600 locations across North America - this Surrey location being their 2nd in BC.
I had their bacon cheeseburger (comes with 2 3.5oz patties). Their Little bacon cheeseburger has 1 patty. The burgers aren't cheap...at $8.75 BUT you can choose as many topping as you like. I had sauteed mushrooms, onions, ketchup and mustard. 2 burgers and one regular fries (which, btw, can feed 2-3 people) came to just over $23. A little pricey. The verdict, not as good as In-n-out but a good solid, 2nd place finish. And considering In-n-out is a plane ticket away, this is pretty darn good.
The cheese on the cheeseburger is strong - very melty, thick cheese. In fact, this is the first CHEESEburger I've had where the cheese is very dominant. Good thing? Perhaps. I find it took away from the moistness of the burger. I might opt for mayo to go with my cheeseburger next time.
Also, on their site, they advertise 0 trans fat...which. I guess, is a good thing, but come on...you're eating a greasy fatty burger.
Fries are ok. They also have cajun fries which I would have tried but I knew they were massive servings and my daughter cannot eat spicy food. Next time - as there will be one for sure.
Forgot to mention, the space is huge. They take up two retail locations and they had at least 12 staff working. I ordered at 6:02 and my burgers were ready at 6:08. That's pretty damn fast. The place was also pretty busy at half full with a constant stream of people coming in taking out food. -

Bar none best burger and fries I've ever had outside of the BBQ burgers I prepare myself. Their burgers are huge so unless ur really really hungry stick to 1 patty cause 2 patties and fries will feed a normal person twice. This is not the standard fast food burger we're all so use to, their food is of the highest quality and the burger patties are made fresh each morning so no frozen patties here. The choices you have for toppings is endless, they even give u your choice of sauces which consisted of bbq, A1, ketchup and one other sauce that now escapes me but I found this to be a great option. Their fries are chloresteral free and there is no equal as far as taste and portion size goes, a regular side of fries will feed 2 easy, I'm 6'2 and 200 lbs and I couldn't come close to eating their reg portion with a burger. The decor and theme is racing with the most common detail being red and white checkered flags which cover the walls, counters and just about everywhere else you look, it's the perfect place to take your hockey or baseball team although depending on how much u like the person or people joining you going Dutch would be the smart move. The typical meal I found was an average price of about $15.00 with a drink which again was worth every penny and then some. If you're a burger lover you won't go wrong with this place, I had one friend ask me how it compared with "Fat Burger" and my response was a simple "it doesn't" in any way yet the pricing is on par. Enjoy people!!
