Fish is amazing and will always hold a special place for me, as I used to live right down the street and was a regular.  My wife and I even had our rehearsal dinner there the night before our wedding and it was perfect.  Some highlights...

    1. This is already well-documented, but the Red, White & Blue special is killer.  6 blue points or clams, with a glass of wine or a PBR, for $8.  What.

    2. The raw bar is outstanding.  It's not the biggest or fanciest you'll ever see, but it's efficient, the products are super fresh and they know what the shuck they're doing.  Shellfish, stone crab claws, sea urchin...mmm.

    3. The seared tuna sandwich.  It's huge and it's loaded with fresh, seared chunks of tuna with a light mayo dressing and fixings.  If you like tuna, this is essential.

    4. Catfish sandwich, oyster roll or lobster roll.  Needs no explanation.

    5. Down East Lobster Feast.  1.25 lb lobster, steamers, corn, fries.  Winning.

    6. The burger.  It's actually delicious, with meat from Ottomanelli's across the street.  Who knew?

    7. The small plates.  Lobster bisque, fried oysters, twin tartare (tuna and salmon), tuna spring rolls, and lobster mac & cheese (OMFG) are all fantastic.

    8. The vibe and the staff.  Super chill and relaxed scene, seafood shack-chic decor, with a good mix of mostly classic and indie rock tunes.  The staff has turned over a bit over the years, but in general, they're friendly and attentive and happy to offer suggestions or make accommodations when necessary.

It can get crowded, but I highly recommend hitting them up if you haven't before.  Writing this review has not only made my mouth water, but it's made me nostalgic.  See you soon, Fish!

No point of writing a long and elaborate post on the red, white and blue special since everyone has but it's the main attraction of this place.

6 oyster and a glass of PBR for $8 is awesome. In fact, it was so awesome that we didn't care of the hazards of eating seafood on a Sunday.

Service is a bit ehh, especially when its slow. Yeah I don't understand that either.

If it weren't for the throngs of people outside, you'd easily breeze by this little seafood joint.  It really does look like a little shack transported from the coast of Maine and plunked down amid the hustling-bustling streets of the Village.

I came here around 7pm on a Friday night.  My friend and I had planned on getting here at 7:30, but I thought it would be wise to arrive early and put down our name.  Good thing I did! The guy who took my name down was very friendly  and said the next table for two would be ours.  Surprisingly, a table for 2 opened up in 10 minutes! My friend hadn't arrived yet though, so I had to pass.  Five minutes later, they called me again for another 2-top that opened. I laughed and had to tell them that my friend had still not arrived - this went on for two more times, but they were very good-natured about it. So though the crowds are large, the wait time for small tables isn't so bad.

Inside is dark and cramped, and you'll be sitting elbows to elbows. If you breathe deeply enough, you can smell a little bit of the sea. Service is prompt, casual and friendly, fitting for the atmosphere.  We were starving so immediately started off with 2 orders of their Red, White, Blue Special ($8 for a glass of wine/PBR and 6 Blue Point Oysters - classy!)  I was impressed - real Blue Points! Not some wan little imitations. These were fat, oh-so-plump, briny and resoundingly fresh.  It was like drinking the ocean.  A few I had were still muddy, and had some cracked shell bits in them but I really didn't mind. This is a casual joint, not some hoity-toity midtown establishment that charges $3 per half shell so I felt no shame in spitting out calcified oyster bits.  I don't know what it is about this place that leaves me just so darned chillaxed.  Maybe they imported some quaint fishing village vibes up from Maine too.

And while it's in season, it would be a down-right crime to not try the Down East Lobster Feast.  The MP that night was $22 for the first lobster with fixins' (i.e. a cob of steamed corn, 4 steamed little necks, and a side of fries), and $15 for the lobster a la carte after that.  Perfect - a lobster for each of us, and sides to nibble on.  They arrived no later than 10 minutes after we ordered, steaming hot and bright bright red. Fyi, these bad boys are served whole and intact, not broken down - you gots to work for your food here.  So put on your bib, pick up your cracker and flex your muscles.  Bucket for shell shrapnel is provided.  Hoisting my bug up by the tail, I judged him to be about the requisite pound and a quarter.  My friend and I fell into satisfied silence as we took to hacking, sawing, gnawing, cracking, plucking, and occasionally thwacking, for the next 20 minutes.  It was a damn good lobster - meaty and sweet, if a tad overcooked.  A squeeze of lemon, a sprinkling of Old Bay and a quick dunk in clarified butter led me to crustacean bliss.  A side note, their french fries are surprisingly great for a fish shack.  They stayed sturdy, crunchy and golden brown for a long time. Great with a dousing of Old Bay.  Actually, everything is good with a dousing of Old Bay.

After we picked our lobster carcasses clean, we indulged in another dozen Blue Points (I think our server was pretty impressed by the speed at which we demolished our food).  They were just so darn good!  I love how they pay homage to the sea and treat the seafood in such a respectful way here.  Simple, not fussy, and just downright fun.  I'm positive I'll be returning in the near future to try more of their offerings (in particular the Angels on Horseback and the fresh uni from Maine *drool).  Cheers to the sea!

    Time Arrived: 8:15pm Saturday

Time Wait: No Reservations, 40 Minutes

    Party: 2 People

    Atmosphere: Packed, Loud

Food/Drink: To start, we ordered 6 oysters that were pretty standard for NYC (aka must be fresh). The lobster mac n cheese was a big hype here, so we definitely got that. This dish, though, was a disappointment. When it came out, I was thinking this looks like regular mac n cheese I can make at home (out of a box), sprinkled with some lobster. Yes, it was good (when is mac n cheese not), but not impressed.

One thing I did notice was everyone around us had whole lobsters as their main entree. As tempting as that was, I was more in a fish mood, so I ordered the Pot'O Bass (Sea Bass dish). I was pretty disappointed because I thought the broth, which the sea bass came in took away from the natural butteryness and flakiness that comes from this type of fish. Chilean Sea Bass in my opinion is one of the yummiest fishes out there, so soaking it in this broth definitely downgraded it.

Also had the Pan Roasted Red Snapper which was cooked well, but nothing spectacular.

    Service: Good

Overall: The atmosphere was super crowded. Tables are literally 6 inches apart from each other. The food quality was good, but the flavors were just average. I'd go somewhere else for seafood.

5 stars for the red white and blue special consisting of 6 oysters or clams (raw) and the house white, red or PBR for $8. Yes please, just keep 'em coming. And they did. I think 3 has been my limit in the half of dozen times I have been here.

2.5-3 stars for the rest of the food. Equating to the good ole 3.5-4 stardom. To be honest, next time I will come here  just the red, white and blue special and then go eat somewhere else. The lobster roll was a joke - $18 it was half a hot dog bun filled with decent lobster salad. I say decent since I mean lobster salad is always good but this batch wasn't creamy. There was no burst of flavor and buttery satisfaction that comes with the hefty price tag of a lobster roll. To be honest maybe because I was three glasses of wine deep but, it didn't have much flavor at all. I could barely taste the buttery bun it was almost more stale like in comparison. Makes me realize how good the lobster roll at my place in Jersey City is (yay Skinner's). On the plus side, the fries were damn crispy and therefore damn good in my eyes.

Fish, you'll see me for raw oysters and that sweet house white wine that gives you a headache after 3 glasses but, you won't get me on those expensive entrees no more. No you won't.

Great value. Fresh oysters and seafood. Definite bang for your buck.

$8 for 6 oysters or clams and it comes with wine or beer. Can't really go wrong with that. Also gave in and got the lobster after watching my friend tear through his. Delicious.

I think it's safe to say that this would be the last visit to Fish. When I go to a place that bills itself as a raw bar with good seafood, the only thing I really expect is fresh seafood. Sadly, this last visit didn't produce any.

We came in during happy hour, and ordered a couple of oyster and clam specials, crab cake, soup, and steamers. While the oysters were fresh, they did not come to our table clean. My companion and I kept spitting out seaweed, sand and bits of shell with each oyster and clam. From. Each. One. Sure it was funny, but it was annoying.

The crab cake came out looking like a dried hockey puck, and  was tasteless. My soup was so spicy that I couldn't even taste it. Worse offense of the evening was clam steamers that came out. Anyone that eats seafood and shellfish on a regular basis, knows that when steamers arrive to a table unopened, it means it's dead. When the clams arrived, the top layer of clams were covered with broken shell bits, the middle portions were slimy and disintegrated, (not plump bits that you'd expect to pop off easily), and the remaining portion were unopened. We counted half that were just DOA.

Normally, we're not the type to mention anything if a meal is bad, (I mean, that's what Yelp is for, right)? But we figured since this is seafood, it would be good to just mention it to the staff, so no one else is getting a bum deal on a pot steamers that night. Unfortunately, bringing anything negative up to the staff was like, accusing them of some sort of horrible offense. Our server, who was friendly at the beginning, started giving us attitude, and asking us if we wanted more clams, (no, they weren't fresh), "are you saying you're worried about your safey?" (no, we're saying they weren't fresh and that you may want to bring it up to the kitchen). "Well, the seafood comes in fresh everyday, so it can't be bad" (as he clears away the heaping bowl of dead steamed clams). Uh, ok.

After we left, we walked over to Joe's for a slice of pizza. Man, we should have just done that and saved ourselves $70, and the dissatisfaction of having a crappy meal.

Oh Fish. Why are you so delicious?
The food was good - no doubt about it. The clams on the half shell were fresh and the lobster meal was just perfect to fill me up. I was stuffed by the time I left. Their lobster bisque is delish!!

But there is minus one star for the service/space. As the night wore on it got really cramped and the waitresses would run back and forth between the tiny space between our table and the bar. I kept thinking clams would fall on me - but then again, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing?

I know everyone raves about the red white blue special but I want to rave about how FRESH AND WELL-SHUCKED the oysters.

There's are plenty of $1 blue point happy hour specials in NYC but if I'm gagging from how fishy it is or destroying my beautiful teeth cuz you smashed the shell, I'm gonna be pretty pissed off.

This place did not disappoint. Bonus, the rest of the menu is awesome! La la la la loveeeee it!

Fish provides both affordable and quality seafood in the West Village.  Its staff is down-to-earth and friendly, and it feels very much like a family business.  It has some great discounts during happy hour (e.g. noon till 4pm) and its "raw bar special" is a great deal.  I love sitting outside the restaurant during spring and summer evenings, to the right of the entrance.

Fish also provides west village residents with high quality filets that one could buy raw and cook at home.  Since Lobster Place on bleecker closed down, Fish is the best place in west village to buy raw fish!

    Highly recommended!!

Our group came here for a late afternoon snack and what could be better than fresh raw oysters in the West Village.

When it comes to the raw bar, I usually go for the oysters sourced from the West Coast, mostly coming out of the state of Washington like Kumomoto's (my favorite) but for this visit, we opted for the happy hour deal of Blue Point oysters with PBR beers, and what a great combination that turned out to be.

The space is pretty small and narrow, definitely very cozy with that marine-like ambiance.  There was no way we could fit our group of 12 people in one table so we actually had to split up.

The location is great since there are a ton of other restaurants and bars nearby to check out; we ended up taking a nice walk around the area since most of us were visiting from out of town and weren't familiar with the area.

    Fish is Delish!
    har har har

Got here with a friend earlyish on a Friday nite and only had a 25 minute wait.  It def gets worse though, and doesn't look super big for big parties.   We got 2 red white and blues to start, with 6 yummy briny oysters apiece and a drink each, good deal.

I tried the clam chowder which I don't normally eat but felt like going for it for some reason. It was great! Complex flavors, and perfectly cooked veggies.  I ordered the mahi mahi (fish of the day) blackened with beans and spinach.  It was a great portion, well cooked, maybe a tad overcooked, but completely enjoyable. My friend got mussels which were huge and she couldn't even finish them all.

We also managed to not spend a bill which seems to be our recurring problem when we go out to eat. Score for us~! I would happily come back.

I've heard pretty bad things regarding the wait time at Fish in the evening and have only been here once around 5pm before anyone else in NYC showed up - so I was readying myself for at least an hour wait.

Fortunately my dining mate arrived literally 2 minutes before I did, and was promptly given a table as long as she promised the host that I was down the block. This is unheard of, and definitely much appreciated! Super win for us on a Thursday evening at 7:30pm. We left around 10pm and there were still globs and globs of people waiting for a seat!

Of course we started with two of the bombass $8 house vino + 6 oysters deals. I remember reading rave reviews of the lobster feast, so asked the waitress what the Market Price was on it, "$19.99," she replied with a huge grin. And an extra whole Maine lobster would be just $14 extra. We were sold!

The oysters arrived first and were nice and plump. We slurped those down fast and eagerly awaited our feast! Unfortunately, I'll have to take off a star for our wait time - it took forever for the lobsters to get to us! When they finally arrived, I'll be honest; it was the most beautiful sea creature I've ever laid my eyes on! Nestled on a plate amongst 6 clams (delicious - first time eating clams), a huge bundle of fries, and a large ear of buttered corn was this gorgeous lobster. Our second lobster was given to us separately on a different plate.

After taking in the food porn, my friend and I attempted to dig in. I say attempt because we actually had no idea what we were doing (this is coming from girls who don't even like to peel shrimp). After a lot of blood, sweat, tears, groans, and (accidentally) flinging shells towards the table next to us, we were able to eat the luscious lobster meat. Soooo worth it! Love that they provide a small bucket for the shells as well as dining aprons!

I definitely lucked out with our zero wait time, and the entire meal was only about $35 pp incl. tip and tax - such an amazing deal for fresh seafood! Although, we both agreed that next time we will settle for the already opened lobster salad and the amazing looking salmon and tuna tartar.

Great Seafood - Try the $20 Lobster Feast.  A must try

Fish is one of my favorite restaurants in the city for reasonably priced fresh seafood.  Everyone that works there is cool and friendly, and the restaurant has an all around laid back feel.  But now for the food.  I usually start with the Red, White & Blue special (6 blue point oysters or 6 clams on the half-shell with house wine or PBR; $8; upgrade available for different beers). The seafood is very fresh, and it's a nice warmup for the seafood feast to come.  Another option to start your meal is the Raw Sampler (1 of each oyster, 2 clams, 3 shrimp; $16), although the shrimp aren't raw.

If it's your first time, definitely go for the Down East Lobster Feast (~$19.95).  It includes a 1  lb Maine Lobster, steamers, corn on the cob and fries.  Plus, if you get a second lobster by itself it'll cost an extra $12, but they give enough sides so two people can share the meal.  The sides are tasty, the lobster fresh, and just an all around fun meal to eat as you get down and dirty.

Their Lobster Mac n' Cheese ($19) is loaded with flavor and is super rich.  The Maryland crab cake ($14) was also good and meaty, with less breading than other places.  I didn't realize it's served as one crab cake with salad, so just a heads up.

The Lobster Roll ($17.95) is served on thick cut toast bun and contains a ton of lobster meat.  I'm no lobster roll expert, but it was lightly dressed with mayo and tasted great.  It's also served with salad and fries.

Bored one day and looking for something fun?  Check out their All You Can Eat Steamed Maryland-Style Blue Crabs for $21.95.  Everyday between 12-4pm they offer this special, and although I've never had it, I have seen them dumping the crabs right on the table and people digging right into those crabs.

It does get very crowded for dinner with waits up to an hour, so I usually put my name down and head to the bar across the street.

I think this place is pretty solid. Probably one of the most affordable seafood/raw bar joints in Manhattan. It's worth the wait - they don't take reservations so come around like 7pm and put your name on the list. Walking around West Village is never a bad thing.

Fish reminds me of San Fran's raw bars, & small seafood joints. It's small, cozy and quaint, kind of squishy but in a tasteful way. They definitely try to fit as many people as they can in the restaurant with enough room to move.

Everyone's talking about their Red White & Blue special. It's half a dozen of Blue Point oysters (mediocre quality but still super fresh) and a glass of red or white or a PBR. Classy. If you're really craving some oysters, I'd get 2 of the specials to share with a friend. There's no harm in spending another $8. The prices are unheard of. If you are an oyster lover though, and actually like to taste different oysters from each coast - don't hesitate to order a few of the west coast oysters. I prefer West Coast because I like the sweet, silky oysters over the briney ones from the East Coast. It's kind of odd because my favorite oysters of all time are from the East Coast from Prince Edward Island but I digress...

We got 3 Kumamotos and 3 Fanny Bay oysters. They were noticeably more flavorful and sweeter. Good stuff.

We also got the lobster mac n cheese. I couldn't resist :(. To be honest, the macaroni was overcooked and a little mushy. The cheese sauce was watered down - not cheesy enough!! but the lobster bits were generous. Could've been better for sure. Not worth the $20 =/ - For $20 I'm expecting some real good cheesiness and al dente pasta at least!

My boyfriend got the lobster extravanganza hahaha. And I got the king crab legs. Both portions were ENORMOUS. If you're coming here for some hands-on food experiences, be prepared. It's gonna get messay messay. Each of our entrees came with two sides. I got corn on the cob + fries. The boyfriend got fries + creamed spinach (which was weird apparently... so not good I guess). Fries are pretty good. The corn was fresh and didn't taste chewy n stale like most corn on the cob I've had at seafood restaurants. The amt of crab legs was unbelievable. I had to put my bib on. DON'T BE EMBARRASSED BY THIS BADASSERY. Being involved in your food eating is not a bad thing. The lobster size was decent too. The crab legs were $35? and the Lobster dinner was $25 or something ridiculously good.

I will be back when I move to NY. I love and need my seafood fix and this place is so down to earth & delicious - you really shouldn't miss out on it.

Must try the all day deal "Red White & Blue" for $8 - 6 oysters or clams with house red/white or PBR. We sat at the bar. Our server, Natalie was awesome. You can munch on peanuts while the oysters are shucked. Don't leave the peanut shells on the bar, throw them on the floor. A very casual vibe. Came here twice on my 4 day trip to NYC. The happy hour deal is amazing, 6 oysters and a glass of PBR for $8. My friend doesn't eat seafood so she drinks my beer and I eat oysters. Perfect for me so I have more room for seafood (just like the olive theory from How I Met Your Mother). The lobster was also delicious. One lobster for $22 or two for $30, you really can't beat a deal like that.

We came here a sat night, and waited 20min for a table without a reservation (very reasonable)

The Red White and Blue special is a great deal, but you are getting 6 Blue Point Oysters (meh quality) with a glass of wine for 8$. So it works out your wine costs 50 cents, and you certainly get what you pay for.

We tried the shrimp cocktail, fish and chips, stone crab claws, and I had the lobster roll. All the seafood were certainly fresh, but my lobster came with a pile of fries, and the roll looked insignificant next to it ( not unlike men who are hairy down south... ). The lobster roll also had too much celery in it, and overpowered what little lobster they gave us..

Service was good, I accidentally ordered the wrong crab claws, and they replaced it with the dish I wanted without a fuss.

Final words: fresh ingredients, but lacking in taste and presentation.

Came here for the $8 6 pieces oysters/clams lunch special that comes with wine or beer. The oysters were super fresh and incredibly valuable for the price. We also ordered their clam chowder which was also very delicious, not the usual "can-food" taste chowder that we usually get in restaurants. This you can actually taste the chunks of clams in the soup, prepared freshly with the rest of the ingredients. Also, don't forget to get a side dish of fries at this spot, it's sprinkled with garlic and prepared freshly, goes very well with the oysters and wine. Can't get anymore delicious.

They have a great happy hour deal - 6 oysters and a PBR or glass of wine for $8. I know you can't be seated until your whole party is there and we had 10 girls so it would take a while. But after 2 hours when we were all there, the host gave away table after table before our eyes. He told me this table or that table would be ours, and then I watched him seat other patrons at them. Only when I mentioned something to the bartender were we sat - after almost 3 hours and at a terrible, squished table in the back by the kitchen door.
I understand it's hard to seat 10 people in a small place, but don't lie to me about our table. Just be honest.
The bartender Todd was so nice and bought us some drinks, and that is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. The food was fine but not worth the wait at all.
Also, Yelp says they have outdoor seating but it's really only two stools outside a window on the sidewalk. No tables.

Came here for the red, white and blue specials. Oysters were delicious and so was the Lobster bisque.

Came here a few weeks ago for a Birthday Dinner and I really loved it. At first I was skeptical of the casual atmosphere, but in the end I found it really charming. It reminded me of a oceanside shack in Martha's Vineyard with its beachy decor.

The food was also amazing. We started with some Blue Point Oysters, and the duo of Tartar with was really great. I had the Scallop entree with creamed spinach and loved every last bite.

I'll come here again for sure.

    Went here for lunch.
The place is cozy and definetely a place to have fish. The place was very quiet however at night the place can get very busy as we walked by it later and it was very busy.
The service was good. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad.
    Our order:
Lobster bisque was delicious, the bite from alcohol was excellent and not overly powerful. The seafood tower was good, the oysters were fresh and delicious however they were not shucked expertly.
As a sushi lover, we appreciated the fresh uni in shell. The stone crab claws left a little to desire, but we might be a bit spoiled from other places. The fish and chips was another highlight, the fish was very good, however the batter could have been better.
They had a good amount of beers on tap.
The entire thing with a drink each cost around $100 which is not bad.
Would go back there again, but wont be in rush!

My entire time dining here was practically begging for a review.

First, I will like to jump on the bandwagon by proclaiming that few can beat the Red, White, and Blue special. AWESOME. The night prior a friend and I had spent the entire evening looking for a place to get oysters that didn't cost an arm and leg and this is the place! AND A DRINK?! I sprung for the house white and it was good for the deal. All in all, $8 for everything that can't be beat.

I am guessing the staff also knows the popular allure of their special and scoff at the hoards (such as myself) that come through their doors for it. Basically from the moment I had order the special, the service went from mediocre to terrible. Our waiter barely exchanged more than five words with us and when our orders finally did come out, he basically dropped them on the table. I should have figured with a name like FISH, this was place was going to be a bit pretentious but sheesh! Further, I had to ask for the standard pre-meal bread which is fine with me (it's a busy place) but I couldn't help but think that our waiter was treating us like freeloaders.

I can understand as he figured that our grand total of $32 (we got two specials each) was not going to net him as much tip per percentage as other patrons but still, c'mon. Lastly, towards the end of our dinner, a girl next to be briefly screamed as a cockroach made its way from one crevice to another. I know it's NYC and am not sure if the policy is to overlook such things in reviewing, but was definitely something that stuck out (though by no means dismissive of my experience).

Came here for dinner with a couple of friends around 8:30 on a Monday night....certainly not prime time, but was still prepared to wait for a table given the restaurant's size/reputation. However, when we arrived we were greeted by the friendly hostess and pleasantly surprised when she led us to a table right away.

The menu is awesome...great variety and reasonably priced...we finally settled on splitting the seafood tower, which was delicious, fresh, and the perfect amount of food for an appetizer when split among 3 people. For the entrees, we got the mussels, which were amazing, the lobster roll, which was solid and the fish and chips, which was nothing special.

Still overall, the food was great and reasonably priced and this would be 4 stars for sure if it were not for the shoddy service. I don't see complaints about the service below, so maybe our server was having an off night, but there's still no excuse for the poor service we received. Our waiter had an attitude all night, from the moment we sat down and he made a number of comments that while not quite offensive, were certainly odd and unprofessional. Just a couple of examples: we're trying to decide how much food to order for the 3 of us, so we ask how large an order of mussels is...he just stares at us and sarcastically/confrontationally says "I have no idea, do want me to go and count the mussels one by one?" Shortly after this, he comes back to our table, inaudibly mumbles something and then says "so nobody here is going to answer me...great" and walks away 2 seconds later. All the three of us could do is exchange puzzled glances and wonder how this guy landed a job as a server in a classy NYC restaurant when the level of service he provided would fall short of what would be expected from someone working the counter at McDonalds.

Again though, I'm willing to give Fish a mulligan and come back because you just can't find many places in NYC where you are going to get better value for your money when it comes to fresh seafood.

Firstly this place is small and doesn't take reservations so your wait will probably be outside...but you can drink there and that is one of the only issues I had with this amazing find in the West Village.

The feel of this place was rustic and felt alittle bit like being transported to a sea shack on a rugged coast back in the UK. It's full of charm and very busy...which is what you want from a fish restaurant.

The Red-White-Blue Oysters deal was phenominal...6 oysters and a glass of wine for $8! We then followed it up with some clam chowder and lobster mash...both amazing!

Special mention should go to front of house who looked after us even though one of our party was late and it took some time for us to get seated.

I intend to bring friends, relatives, dates infact everyone I can back here in the future...they'll never get rid of me!

Had dinner with my friend.  We got the oyster special with a few extras as starter.  Very fresh.  Definitely the Bluepoint oysters weren't as delicious as the other ones...but sure is cheap esp w the special.

For Entree got scallops+spinach and chilean seabass.  Delish both, but salad better since sea bass was tad bit too salty.

One of my favorite places in New York!! If you love seafood and you don't want to spend a lot of money. This is the place to be. Red, White, and Blue special includes 1/2 a dozen oysters/clams plus a beer or wine for $8! The lobster feast is awesome, whole lobster plus steamed clams, corn on the cob, and fries for $22. Best part is your 2nd lobster is only $14! Stick to these two specials you'll be satisfied! If you like crab they have AYCE crab special everyday from 12-4 p.m. for $19pp. I have not tried this special, still on my to do list.

We've tried quite a few items off the menu, not everything can be AWESOME!
    Dislikes:
    - Paella, I've read the reviews and I've seen it in person and it looks good, but there were just too many PEAS! Overpowering, you couldn't taste anything else but that. It needed some Old bay seasoning, lemon juice, and hot sauce to make it taste better.
    - Clams Casino - their supposed to be breaded clams but the water from the clams soaks up the bread crumbs so it tastes kinda bland and soggy.

I love the people who work here, their friendly and attentive. I'm not even from NY and they recognize me every time I go.

I have been coming here for years and whilst the lunch and happy hour specials were always amazing value the food was hit and miss. I went back for a catfish po'boy yesterday and it was superb, as were the previously soggy fries. The lunch plate was $11 and the wine special was a simple Chilean white for $4. BARGAIN.

This place has really improved, they always had great product (they catch their own) but had never had a decent chef, no they do. I seriously think they could aim higher with an even better chef, after all most would kill for the access they have to seafood. Should they ever hire a real chef and not just a line cook they would hit 5 stars in a minute, meanwhile it's a great spot and excellent prices.

This place is super legit.  I've been coming back repeatedly for the Down East Lobster Feast, which is always market price and has been $18-20 for the past year.  You get a whole lobster, some steamed clams, and 2 sides (standard is fries and corn on the cob, but you can switch for any 2 sides).  Any other restaurant in NY will charge at least $30 for lobster and call it "market price" but Fish is the only place that actually does it right.

My friends also swear by the burgers though I wouldn't know because I've had lobster every time I've been back.

Still a big fan of this place but the lobster roll wasn't as good the second and third time as I remembered it the first time.  The Red White and Blue special is still a great deal, and I'll be back specifically for that.  The Stone crab is pretty bomb too, especially with the mustard/mayo dipping sauce they give you.

One word. Wow!!! Blue point oysters totally on point with a pint of PBR. Tuna steak sandwich at 12$ out of this world. Tuna salad WILL feed a small family. Blackened catfish melts in mouth. Awesomeness all round. The Mac n cheese lobster looks divine as the table next to us gobbled it up large portion must share, good for 3 as app. Thankfully I live right next door!!!

So I finally had the lobster mac and cheese, I write this with disappointment, it was gritty...not cool.

The seared tuna salad, was horrid. We sent it back, even though it was embarrassing. Our server was cool about it. The tuna was so fishy and we could just barely swallow it down. The greens were fit for a pasture, I'm not sure what it was rocket/daisy leaves, either way, it was not sorted in fact there were plenty of old yellowed decomposing leaves in there. The green were hard, like I said fit for a cow. lol

Thankfully fish came though, on our next visit, ottomanellis beef burger with blue cheese was excellent as was the cod sandwich.

    Great take out place too.

As all the other reviews say, this a great, authentic, delicious find.  The Red-White-Blue $8 special (6 Blue Point oysters + a glass of Chardonnay) was so awesome, I literally ordered it twice.
My dining companions enjoyed the Fish Market soup (as well as the Lobster Bisque and the Clam Chowder ...basically, you can't go wrong with the soups), and the King Crab Legs for the main.

    Highly highly recommended.

    Well worth the wait!

Rainy Friday night, but still had to hang about an hour or so before a table for two  was ready for the lovely wife and I (we were sorta celebrating her b-day). Very cozy, yet trendy place. The lobster bisque was amazing and the "angels on horseback" made my wife an oyster fan (she used to hate 'em).
On to entrees, sorta b-day girl had the blackened catfish and enjoyed it immensely. I went to town on the lobster feast (or fest) plate and really got down and dirty.....corn on the cob, fries, steamers, and cracking, crushing and pulling on the main event. MMMMMMMmmmmm, was in seafood heaven.
So if you're cool with the wait, and if you're eating anywhere in this area you better be, I highly recommend this restaurant. A little pricey but nothing ridiculous......cant wait to go back and take advantage of the lunch specials!
