I'm a big fan of this place!  Rarely is there a line to see the doctors, and they can do lots of testing on site.  I have always had a good experience as a walk-in patient.

My favourite person here: Dr. Darcie Sinclair!   Dr. Darcie has been my chiropractor since I moved to Toronto.   She has the most demonic thumbs, but they can fix ANYTHING.  Need a back crack?  She's got you covered.  Got a numb thumb?  No problem there!  What about a parched arch?  She'll fix that too!   She also gives you lots of exercises and stretches to do at home to help reduce pain and minimize visits.
Its truly amazing.    She is also incredibly nice and funny, so that helps!
Her hours are kind of annoying, so if its an emergency, you probably won't get in same day, but if you can, she is well worth the wait!

I visited the walk-in clinic this morning due to severe pain in my left-hand fingers due to a fall last week. While I was happy with the attention and care I received from Dr. Lam on my previous visit last week, I left the clinic very upset this morning because I had the misfortune of being attended (and I use the term loosely) by Dr. M. Myers.

Dr. M. Myers was extremely rude to the point of being obnoxious for no apparent reason. I had this strong desire to tell her to go to hell for being a jerk but I bit my tongue.

If you go to this clinic and she is the attending doctor, don't walk, run.

Went today (Friday) at 10:00 a.m.  I waited an hour in the reception and when I FINALLY got into the exam room, I waited another hour before the doctor finally came in.  It wasn't that busy, lots of empty chairs in reception.

The chairs in the waiting area are very uncomfortable - I had to sit on one of their magazine tables.  I would have to be desperate to go back to this clinic.  Definitely do not go on a lunch hour.

I can't count the number of times I've emailed, IMed or dictated the number and address of this walk-in clinic to my fellow downtown drones when they sniffle, "Kat, what's the name of that walk-in clinic you always go to??". I'm yelping it once and for all: MEMORIZE IT FOR WHEN YOU GET SICK.

If you live/work downtown and need to see a doctor without an appointment, come here. Don't waste anyone's time going to St. Mike's or Mount Sinai hospital - First Canadian Medical Centre rarely has a long wait and the doctors there can handle all your not-urgent-but-still-niggling healthcare needs, from UTIs and H1N1s to pregnancy scares, mono and whooping cough. They also have a full sports clinic with rehabilitation and massage therapy services if that's what you need.

Enter the First Canadian Place complex via Adelaide Street just west of Bay Street, and the clinic is immediately to your left when you walk in and up the stairs.

Don't come here without a health card. And don't come here as a substitute for a real family doctor - this is the place to go if you know you have something, but you just need a prescription, a doctor's note, referral, etc. The doctors are competent and friendly, but it's not like you'll get solid one-on-one time with them. They're here to get 'er done, so you should know this in advance. If you get a prescription and need to fill it, there's a Rexall Drugs in the basement of First Canadian Place (don't go at lunch).

Busiest times are obviously lunch hour from 12-2pm. You can call ahead to see what the wait time is like and a real person will answer the phone. Most importantly, the clinic is CLEAN and well maintained, which is more than I can say for the other walk-in option on Queen West at Spadina, where you leave with more diseases than you walked in with.

I've been seeing Dr. Lam for years and he is great., however; the staff i find have no bedside manner  (particularly  reception and the girls that do blood work). It seems they all hate their jobs. People, find a new job if you can't be pleasant, or at the very least don't be rude dealing with your  patients.

I found the nurses that I dealt with and one in particular to be really great. Overall though I'd have to say it's sort of like a factory; - assembly-line belt.  I had, as it  turned out, 3 broken bones in my foot.  Like a lot of us,. you figure its just sprained, elevate it, ice, etc. but when after a week it was still very swollen and bruised I went to the walk-in at being prompted by colleagues. They saw me late in the day, sent me for x-rays across the street at York-Adelaide which facility was closed by 5 so I went the next day. They did x-ray but couldn't fit me in for an 'ink'-ultrasound for 5 days. By then I was in horrible pain. Got the ultrasound today and then ordered an additional x-ray of the FOOT realizing that the previous x-ray ordered by clinic was not what was req'd - not ankle but foot. (BTW the imaging facility terrific & thorough). Back to walk-in for followup Doc hadn't read the latest results and said I was okay but to stay off the foot and ice it.   After I updated the doctor she opened the file which only contained last week's  results, and read it. They had actually lost my entire file and only had these older results so I provided a CD of today's results and they still hadn't found the fax sent to them this day from Imaging Co. Horribly frustrating for me.  Bottom line: I should have gone to an emergency department.  Go to them only minor issues.
