I picked out Finales for a late coffee date because it seems to be one of the few coffee shops in Winnipeg that is open after 10pm on a Thursday (open till 11pm each night actually.)
The longer hours were my core motivation for trying this place out, and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and comfortable the atmosphere was. Tables, comfy chairs, plants, a fish tank... all this contributed to a really laid back and rather cozy atmosphere.
The staff was really nice and didn't make a fuss when we were still there a few minutes past closing, and counter service was pretty speedy.
Their offerings were good - I had the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate, which was yummy and came topped with a generous amount of whipped cream and peppermint sprinkles, and the Cheese & Veg Fritatta on Flat Bread, which was very yummy, though heated rather unevenly (it came out of their display cooler and was microwaved I think - could have used a little extra time). Still, delicious. They also had a nice assortment of cakes, pies and dessert squares, which I didn't get to sample this time around but will definitely partake of next time I'm in there. The desserts looked like generous portions for reasonable prices.
There's a parking lot out front which is handy. The address is on St. Mary's Rd, but if you're coming south off the Norwood bridge, keep left onto Marion to get into the parking lot.Listed in: Wifi After 10pm
