I must admit this review is going back to 2007 or so. but I'm new to this inter-webs so I'd figure the nice people of yelp and the people who actually decide to go to yelp for strip club advice (read: losers) would appreciate this review.

I was in town for a Red Sox game and decided I had enough of the Brass Rail and ventured here. It is a pretty scummy area of town, homeless, crackheads, the indigent. However I wanted to see some naked ladies, so I decided to go anyways.

Went in after the game, not a huge crowd but plenty of ladies. The stage shows were nice, one girl was really good and had sparklers and such. It was quite a production.

Booze are expensive 9-12 dollars for a mixed drink. They are however less expensive than the Brass Rail.

I was enjoying a beverage, when I was approached by a lovely young lady, she offered me the world in VIP, so I decided to give her a throw. I had to pay a VIP fee for entrance to the backstage area, whatever not a huge deal but sheesh the backstage area is far more seedy than the stage area. That being said the darkness and the fact that no one else was there tempted me. So I went back sat on a love seat, and the girl did her thing, however it wasn't that good, I was a little disappointed. I went back to my seat and grumbled to my friend.

At this time I was approached by an Asian woman. I don't remember her name, it might have been Asia (seriously) she started talking dirty in my ear, she had a white bikini on, the only reason I remember that was she had white nail polis on and it glowed in the dark (cool, no?) She offered me a little extra in the VIP, she wanted to know if I wanted her to play with my slide whistle, not being from around these parts I only assumed there was some super duper VIP area where they had live music playing for you while the girls dance. I was sold, we went to the backstage area, but this time we went into a dark corner, she spoke into my ear and made me another offer, she wanted to play with my slide whistle in addition to cleaning it with her mouth, now that is a full service club!!!

Begrudgenly I accepted, I began to touch her as she warmed me up, before I knew it I was in the bathroom flushing a prophylactic down the toilet.

It wasn't the best, it wasn't the worse, it was the most awkward, and it was nerve racking as well. Overall it is what it is...

Basically find the right girl and wheel and deal, there is money to be made and slide whistled to be cleaned.

I was pleasantly surprised by how not-devastatingly-creepy this place was. I've passed by several times and have seen mostly grizzled old chain smokers (male and female) hanging about, so I just assumed that it was a seedy old strip joint full of methed out strippers who looked 36 but were actually 24. Instead, it's a decent club with pretty comfy seating and a stage in the middle with an actual pervert's row (I'm looking at you, Brass Rail).

First of all, it was Saturday night. There was a decent crowd of people in their twenties celebrating birthdays. We had a crowd of about 15 people, about 1/3 of us were girls and we were all hooting and hollering, which the dancers all seemed to get really into. I'd say about half of them were good looking, and could do those crazy pole tricks which require an incredible amount of core strength. The other half were decent looking and basically did the lazy saunter and spin. A few of them danced to some 90s rock, which I was pretty excited about. At least one of the strippers was a coked out mess, and appeared to have fallen asleep on the lap and shoulder of one of our friends, before stumbling away, knocking against every table in her path. A couple were really cool and chatted with us girls for a bit and seemed genuinely quite nice.

None of us went for lap dances, so I can't speak to that experience.

A bottle of bud was $8.25. Steep, but still less than what you'd pay at a baseball game.

Ladies will be happy to know that there is a dedicated bathroom for female customers. Many strip clubs don't see a lot of women customers, so the ones who do come have to use the bathroom that doubles as the strippers' change room. Those places hover somewhere between a bathroom in Chinatown, and a bathroom in China in terms of cleanliness and creepiness. Therefore, I was delighted to go into a bathroom and see that it was a) clean and b) well lit. I was less impressed when a girl who was on month 2 of her meth habit stumbled out of a stall.

All in all everyone had a great time. We've already made plans to go back for the next couple of birthdays in our group.

This had to be my worst strip club experience.  EVER!
It could hardly even be considered a strip club, because the time it took me to drink a beer (Rickards, Rickets, I don't know), there was absolutely no talent on stage and the girls appeared bored, might have even been doing crossword puzzles, who knows!

There's a homeless shelter round the corner from here.

Only plus was that there was no cover charge.

Went on a rip of strip clubs across Toronto one night with a friend. Sadly we found this joint. Ranks right up there with North Bay's Fanny's. Haha

What a joke. Terrible terrible place. My friend was basically offered sex from one of the girls. It was dirty.

I had to give it two stars because it was as good if not slightly better than Fanny's in North Bay and I gave that place two stars.

Definitely a club I will never step foot in again though.

The bar itself is small, but adequate, 12 stools and two draft taps.

Fimores stage is shaped roughly like a club on a playing card, which makes for great sight lines. Three poles also make for varied and interesting dancing and the girls are of a high quality given the area. The washrooms are spotless and seem to be recently renovated, the gents downstairs, ladies upstairs. A decent perverts row and the ubiquitous low backed comfortable chairs make up the rest of the club, roughly 25 tables in all. Filmores is a good-sized club that still manages to feel intimate.

We went on a Wednesday night and I enjoyed it.

    Pros:
    -- No cover.
-- Most of the girls were very attractive.
    -- Good music.
-- I liked the layout/feel of the club.

    Cons:
-- Drinks are expensive (about $8 a beer) but hey, there's no cover.
-- Some of the girls didn't dance too well but I doubt this is the only club with a few sub-par dancers.
-- The location may seem seedy to some. I ran into some shady characters outside but if you mind your own business you'll be fine.

Overall I liked it. Would return.

For someone who has visited all of the downtown strip clubs in Toronto multiple times over the years Filmores still remains my favorite. I suppose what draws me back to this place is how incredibly laid back it can be especially when you know what to expect of it.

Firstly, don't expect stellar service from the waitresses. They have forgotten about my order many times so what I do now is walk straight to the bar when I get in. Whatever you are drinking, make it simple e.g. Jack n' Coke, bottled beer (beer on tap tastes flat), white wine for the healthy, whatever. If you are planning to get a lap dance you might as well pay the $10 for the invisible-to-the-naked-eye stamp (goes on your hand) that allows you access to the "VIP" area along with your drink. Now have a seat, relax and watch the beautiful woman undressing on stage.

Within minutes (or even seconds) you should be approached by an exotic dancer who will offer you a private dance in the "VIP" area. Oh wait, no, she will be all friendly and what not first and THEN offer the private dance. Politely decline if you don't find her attractive, but expect a rude retort. Let it go, shrug it off. Arguing with her or insulting her will only lead to trouble. She will immediately leave after the "rejection" so relax, wait for another dancer to approach you. Same thing, don't find her attractive either? Say no. Now look around at all the dancers, some should be sitting down, some at the bar, some wandering around, some talking to customers. Do you find any of them attractive? No? Get out you picky bastard! Go to another club. If you do see one you like then approach her...yes, this is acceptable. Ask if she would be willing to give you a private dance. 9/10 times she will say yes. Good, let her lead the way past the DJ booth n' up the stairs. You've got your stamp and drink so you don't even have to go to the bar to get 'em. At the top of the stairs a bouncer will ask you to put your stamped hand under infrared light so he can see it and allow you through. Upstairs is another bar, a pool table I've never seen anyone play on, washrooms past the bar, black leather couches beyond the pool table where you will most likely get the dance. If it is full then she will lead you to the small hallway at the back where the big black leather chairs are. Standard $20/song, ask for the rules if you don't know them before proceeding. Enjoy!

Oh, if you are not interested in lap dances for some reason or simply can only afford a drink then temptation will hit you pretty damn hard. Out of the 30 or so times I have been to Filmores only 3-4 times have I bought a drink and watched the dancer on stage n' it was soooo boring! Like watching TV. Even with a friend or in a group it can get pretty lonely just sitting there watching beautiful women dance one after the other.

    More about the place...

It has a colourful history dating back to the wonderful days of free love.

The neighborhood surrounding Filmores is garbage. As soon as you exit Filmores late at night in a drunken stupor with the $20 left in your wallet (just in case) you should look for a cab immediately. Get out! If you can't find a cab then don't walk south, east and especially don't walk north on George Street. If you gotta walk anywhere cos you can't see a cab walk west towards the very commercial heart of the city known as the Toronto Life Square aka Dundas Square (Dundas & Yonge). I suppose you can also call for a cab but I've never done this. Once you reach the Toronto Life Square look up at Jack Astor's and Milestones, they got good bars, so does the Hard Rock Cafe. Chill, have a drink while smelling like ladies perfume/cream due to the intense lap dance you just got a few minutes ago.

Filmores is 'pricey'...aren't all strip clubs? Bring enough cash, don't use their ATM.

Anyway, that's Filmores in a nutshell. Remember, you are there to have a good time, so if you are still bored 30 minutes in just leave, nobody will care.
