I have been coming here regularly for years, and I would recommend anything on the menu, it's that good. There is always a line up during lunch and dinner time, but the line moves very fast. Well worth the ten minutes.

I was really looking forward to visiting here, as I've heard nothing but praise. I understand there were recent renovations, which only usually means good things. I'm not sure why they've kept the restaurant's name because it no longer looks like a 50's place. The decor is very boring grey, with a few accent colours. It could have been any "family-style" restaurant in the area. In a 50's restaurant the atmosphere is almost as important as the food.
I had a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and fries. The portions of smoked meat were pretty good but I was expecting more; the fries were below average. My dining companion had chicken fingers. They did look pretty good, not from the freezer section of the supermarket at least.
If you're looking for a 50's diner, don't bother stopping in here. The food was acceptable, but not worth my time to drive here, with better options all over the area. I doubt I'll be back. -

Sunday, Monday, Happy Days.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days.
Thursday, Friday, Happy Days.
The weekend comes,
My cycle hums,
Ready to race to you.
These days are all,
Happy and Free. (Those Happy Days)
These days are all,
Share them with me. (oh baby)
Goodbye grey sky, hello blue.
There's nothing can hold me when I hold you.
Feels so right, it can't be wrong.
Rockin' and rollin' all week long.
This place was so good, I came back twice in two nights. Just a traditional diner with good honest diner food. Almost makes me wish I grew up in the era except, I would have been a minority and probably segregated. Aside from that...
I love me a good traditional open face turkey diner (see photo). I so rarely have that, and I didn't grow up with turkey, but always feel warm and fuzzy when I can have it. Not many places serve it, and this was one of the better ones I've ever had.
As Fonzie used to say..... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy!Listed in: Omnomeriffic Yum! (TM), Lyrical Miracals

Great breakfast, super cheap and always fun.
They remodeled the place recently, so it has a much different vibe now. The old Fifties had a better atmosphere, but the new Fifties is nicer inside and looks like it seats people more comfortably.
The food is always good, comes in decently sized portions and is always hot. Made fresh to your order and the service is usually nice.
They say they have all day breakfast, but its not really true. My favourite thing about Fifties is the home style fries, which they only serve until about 12pm, then they serve regular fries after. Disappointing.
They have good dinner and lunch options though, and they serve good portions as well.
It is always busy in the morning especially on weekends. In some cases, you may have to wait half an hour so be prepared to go early.
But it is still really fun and the food is good, I highly recommend this to anyone shopping in Cambridge Centre or the surrounding areas, a great place to take a break from shopping. -
