After being the only one of my friends without a cell phone, I finally fast-forwarded to 2011 and got a plan with Fido.
Since I don't have a Credit card, I thought it would be tricky getting set up with a plan. Turns out all I needed was my Drivers license and SIN # and I was good to go! All payments can be made through my chequing account! That's pretty cool...
I opted for the "City Fido" plan which is $35/month for unlimited text messaging and phone calls. The only restriction is that you're charged additional monies if you talk or text outside the City "zone". This isn't much of a problem for me, as I'm rarely out of town. I also got an add-on package for $10 a month which gives me caller ID and voicemail. My monthly bill comes up to $50.28 per month (if I don't go over) which isn't bad for unlimited talk and text.
The woman who signed me up was helpful and friendly. Despite the craziness at the kiosk, she took her time with me and showed me the basics on the BlackBerry I got. They're also very thorough on letting you know what their return policy is, so if you find out you've got a "lemon" you can return it for a new one (within certain time frames, of course...)
I'm glad I went with Fido. I hear their Customer Service is better than most cell phone companies out there and their phone signals are prevalent. I'm stuck with them for 2 years, so I hope I made the right choice.Listed in: My FTR's
