Review from Edwin A.
This just opened recently in Thornhill in the former CIBC bank location.
Just spotted it as I was driving by, we were just talking about getting a thin crust pizza for dinner. Perfect because as I inched by to park, saw through the window this place has a wood burning oven.
We walk inside -- the decor is nice. Warm feel. They have a bar side that stretches the length of the restaurant, and the inside dining area has nice wooden chairs and leather surfaced benches.
For the food we ordered the following:
Caesar salad with grilled chicken
Spaghettini Cozze
Fresh mussels in a tomato sauce with white
wine and garlic
Pizza Sofia
Tomato sauce, mozzarella, portobello
mushrooms, fire roasted onions, smoked bacon
So what's my take on it,
Caesar salad - a little too libral with the salad dressing. Have a little more care with this please. The croutons, made from day old bread they have left over, (verified this with our server) was toasted too much and were as hard as jawbreakers. Every crunch we took travelled to the tops of our skulls. After a couple of annoying crunches I just picked off each one. I mentioned this to our server, he remarked "oh you like soggy croutons" no I don't.. but these are so hard. He looked at them, and said "yeah these look a little over done". $10
Spaghettini Cozze - their sauce a little much on the celery side, I hoped for something more neutral or an option like a rose or white sauce but it was so-so. The mussels were not consistent in size and were on the small side. $14
Pizza Sofia - it was done ok. So for wood oven pizza this is the only local choice in Thornhill I know of. There were 20 different types of pizza combinations to choose. $14
Quality of the food was average. I was expecting more though. It's not fine dining, nor it cheap eatz either.
Atmosphere 4/5
